Joining ArtTeam

2009-04-22 Thread Israel Rodríguez
Hello,

I was talking with Máirín Duffy about join Fedora Artwork Team and she
said me that I could start with
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Artwork/DesignService

I'm a Spanish Linux user who started with Fedora 7 and now I'm using
Fedora 10. I'm 17 years old but I'm involved with Linux user community.
Last year I "founded" a network of blogs which talk about Fedora: FBN
(http://fbn.homelinux.org and our planet:
http://fbn.homelinux.org/planet). Now we're writing a Fedora 10/11 user
guide in Spanish (on PDF).

I think I will start with any request of
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Artwork/DesignService (probably, the
Aleyoop icon)

Regards

Israel R. Alonso

OK, I contacted with the requester and he liked this. About your
observation:
- Yes, are available, then I link it.
- ok
- Yes I used the same photo, then I write it credits (the requester ask
me if I can do some variations with the lions, to use this in next
releases, and I will do it.
- If Art team want it, I delete the gradients (or I make them smoother)

ok?

Yes, software is the only difference (ArtRage, is entertaining, but not
proffesional and Photoshop Elements is only a propietary software you
can get using the GIMP and f-spot togheter). If you will use it as a
replace of mouse, I recomend you the small bamboo. But if you will use
it for design, Bamboo Fun (medium) will be better (but it's only a size
issue) if you want to be more confortable drawing.

Just my opinion, more questions? :)

In Spanish, I think that "Coming soon" could be translated to
"pronto" (it's only "soon" but the "real" translation is "llegando
pronto" and isn't good). "Arriving in" could be translated to:
 - "Llegando en"
 - "Llega en"

configuring wacom tablet with LinuxWacom

2009-04-24 Thread Israel Rodríguez Alonso
Hello Team,

Sorry if this should not have written here but I thought that is the art
team and perhaps someone has a tablet.

Máirín Duffy gives me this link to make my tablet (Wacom Bamboo FUN A5Wide)
on Fedora (http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/). I did this:

cd linuxwacom(...)/prebuilt
./install

and it started to install:

Installing Wacom man page..
Installed under /usr/share/man/man4

Installing wacom_drv
wacom_drv.so installed under /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input

Installing utility programs (wacdump, xidump, xsetwacom)
Installed under /usr/local/bin

Installing wacomcpl..
Installed under /usr/local/bin

You need to compile and install wacom.(k)o manually if your kernel is out of
date.

After adding your Wacom tools into /etc/X11/xorg.conf, please restart X
server or simply reboot your system to run the new Wacom X driver.

---
Then I added this lines (
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=212355) to xorg.conf (created
with Xorg -configure :1).

I rebooted and... tablet doesn't works! XD (it appears on Extended Devices
window on Inkscape and GIMP)

Have you got any idea?

(sorry, again,if this does not look anything here)

I tried to install linuxwacom packages from repo befor try this metod :) But
I think in other linux distribution the pakage provided on the repo is
diferent (x11-imput-wacom and wacom-tools) and in the distributions which
use that packages, tablet works out-of-box.

Hello Paul,

I have a Bamboo FUN (isn't proffesional but works well and the size is
perfect for me (A5) but in my case, in Fedora doesn't works (in other linux
it does) but I know some people who have other models and works fine. Isn't
too expensive (but neither is upmarket)

I'm sure that reading the documentation in
http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.netyou can activate it (my english level
make too dificult for me :D)

Surely, other people on the team could help you better than me ;)

My graphire is 4" x 5". It looks like you can get a refurb 4"x5" graphire

Yes: size, series (because mine is 8.5" W x 5.3" D-active area, but is a
bamboo fun) and importation issues.

Re: configuring wacom tablet with LinuxWacom

2009-04-24 Thread Israel Rodríguez Alonso
I edit the xorg.conf. And if Fedora repo drivers doesn't work, you install
linuxwacom drivers, edit the xorg.conf and reboot (I did this last time).

I use this xorg.conf configuration for tablet:

Section "InputDevice"
 Driver"wacom"
 Identifier"eraser"
 Option"Device"
"/dev/input/uinput-devices/uinput-wacom-graphire4-6x8-tablet" #USB ONLY
 Option"Type" "eraser"
 Option"USB" "on"#USB ONLY
 Option"PressCurve""0,0,100,100"
 Option"Mode" "Absolute"
 Option"Speed" "1.5"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
 Driver"wacom"
 Identifier"cursor"
 Option"Device"
"/dev/input/uinput-devices/uinput-wacom-graphire4-6x8-tablet" #USB ONLY
 Option"Type" "cursor"
 Option"Mode" "relative"
 Option"USB" "on"#USB ONLY
 Option"Speed" "1.5"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
 Driver"wacom"
 Identifier"pad"
 Option"Device"
"/dev/input/uinput-devices/uinput-wacom-graphire4-6x8-tablet" #USB ONLY
 Option"Type" "pad"
 Option"USB" "on"#USB ONLY
 Option"Button1" "6"
 Option"Button2" "7"
 Option"Button3" "4"
 Option"Button4" "5"
EndSection

And then I added this to Server Layout:
InputDevice"pad" # For Intuos3/Cintiq
21UX/Graphire/Bamboo tablets
 InputDevice"stylus""SendCoreEvents"
 InputDevice"eraser""SendCoreEvents"
 InputDevice"cursor""SendCoreEvents"# For non-LCD
tablets only

Finally I configured the tablet on Inkscape and GIMP.
