[Bug 472639] New: Review Request: Scilab - Numerical Analysis toolkit
Please do not reply directly to this email. All additional comments should be made in the comments box of this bug. Summary: Review Request: Scilab - Numerical Analysis toolkit https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=472639 Summary: Review Request: Scilab - Numerical Analysis toolkit Product: Fedora Version: 9 Platform: All OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: medium Priority: medium Component: Package Review AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED] QAContact: [EMAIL PROTECTED] CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED], fedora-package-review@redhat.com Depends on: 439630,464781,468797 Estimated Hours: 0.0 Classification: Fedora Spec URL: http://dhd.selfip.com/427e/scilab.spec SRPM URL: http://dhd.selfip.com/427e/scilab-5.0.1-1.fc9.src.rpm Description: Scilab is a scientific software package for numerical computations providing a powerful open computing environment for engineering and scientific applications. rpmlint -iv output is empty. Notes: *Requires Javahelp2, which is only available in F10 (I believe). I cheated and used an RPM available here: (http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/fedora/devel/i386/javahelp2-2.0.05-5.fc10.noarch.html). Package review is bug 439263. *In-program help has not been built, we probably want this. *The makefile that is included seems to call gcc gfortran for the install target to perform some final linking operations -- this seems very very odd. What to do? Do I need to make gcc and gfortran Requires: of scilab? It also really slows down the %install target of rpmbuild. *I get a *lot* of file listed twice warnings from rpmbuild -- is * recursive in the %files section? Notes to other packagers/reviewers: *Scilab is fairly big. It takes a while to complete a build -- ~1hr on a 2.1 GHz machine. If you plan to rebuild more than once or twice, use ccache to speed it up a little (not all the time is spent on C/C++ compiling though). *I am having problems getting PVM to link correctly, as such I have disabled it -- if anyone wants to have a shot at patching this, please do. I have left the patches that fix a few problems with PVM in there for anyone looking at it. Probably just needs someone to correct the PVM_LIB value. *Need to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to find JVM (libjava, libjvm, libhpi) before running scilab-bin. It can't find it for some reason *I have not tested parallel building to see if it works, how do we test this? Finally my upload bandwidth is not terrible, but it isn't massive, so patience when getting the SRPM :) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Fedora-package-review mailing list Fedora-package-review@redhat.com http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-package-review

Or just drop the macros entirely and save the typing. I do not see this so much sense to pay attention. But ok, I fix it. rpmlint complains about the .packlist file. Honestly I'm not sure why you would even need to package it, and if you check the perl package template you'll see that it deletes .packlist files and then goes through and deletes empty directory trees. In fact, perhaps you might want to take a look at the template; it might give you some hints for better ways to do some things. Install the rpmdevtools package and look at /etc/rpmdevtools/spectemplate-perl.spec. I have long thought about it file... Very thanks for this hints. I get few lines fronm this spec template (see spec changelog for more details). In any case, it's always useful to run rpmlint on your packages (both the source RPM and the final built packages). Off course! Now it is produce only 1 warning, but it is too erroneously: $ rpmlint -i xls2csv-1.06-1.fc9.src.rpm xls2csv.src:32: W: rpm-buildroot-usage %build %{__perl} Makefile.PL INSTALLDIRS=vendor PREFIX=%{buildroot}%{_prefix} $RPM_BUILD_ROOT should not be touched during %build or %prep stage, as it will break short circuiting. so, it is wrong, because usage of %{buildroot} there is not touch this dir!!! It works better and doesn't crash as easily as before. Issues I've run into (and which may cause users to submit problem reports: * Music became loud noise after the first fight. Pulse Audio was still working fine (i.e. I could start a music player as a test), but in lordsawar it needed several attempts to make the music return. * At the end of a test game (the remaining two enemies surrendered), confirming Quit did not close the game window. I could choose and confirm Quit again and again, but that didn't help. Killing the process worked. The build log contains a few interesting warnings that are worth an investigation: gtksdl.c:218: warning: the address of 'SDL_windowhack' will always evaluate as ' true' playerlist.cpp:367: warning: deprecated conversion from string constant to 'char *' player.cpp:862: warning: suggest parentheses around within || Packaging-wise it's fine. * A desktop menu icon could be added. * You could use --vendor= instead of --vendor=fedora when installing the .desktop file APPROVED -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Fedora-package-review mailing list Fedora-package-review@redhat.com http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-package-review
