Re: [Finale] Plea for help TAN
The 6/9 chord was very common for this style of music. I believe this to be Db69. Harold On Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at 08:36 PM, Chuck Israels wrote: > At 8:34 PM -0400 5/21/02, David H. In addition to the root, we need a 3rd: F (check), a fifth: Ab (check), a sixth: Bb (check), and a ninth: Eb (check). Voila! A Db 6/9! Or wait a minute! Maybe it's an Eb9sus in 3rd inversion... :-) Doug ___ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

Re: [Finale] Plea for help TAN
I've always used the basic added 6th chord, close scored. Works well. [Finale] Numbering pickup measures (was Dumb question)
I can usually see the need for standards and consistency, but in the case of measure numbers, I favor practicality. I agree with David Bailey that the details don't much matter as long as the score and all of the parts agree. Please note that sometimes a pickup occurs in the middle of a piece, perhaps at a meter change. Some composers are careful to weave this pickup into the prevailing meter, but others are not -- and especially in work for the stage, it can be important not to imply a gratuitous, measured pause with make-up rests. Sometimes a stray pickup measure can result. Should that (partial) measure have a number? I vote yes, so I can refer to it directly, i.e. I find it a little clearer to refer to "measure 348" than to "the pickup to measure 349". (As Abel Korzeniowski notes, in either case it's critical that all extracted parts contain the correct, explicit rests in the pickup measure.) And my usual policy of laziness dictates that I stick to Finale's default behavior unless there's a compelling reason not to. ___ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

Sound advice - I've wasted lots of rehearsal time forgetting *that* one! --- On Mon 05/20, Wiz-of-Oz wrote: > When you start numbering from the first full measure > (which seems the most logical, a pickup is just an upbeat to a full > measure after all, isn't it?) > just make double sure that you didn't forget to input apropriate rests in > all silent voices of the pickup, > so that every extracted part would clearly show an upbeat to the first > measure. > You do not really want the Horns to see 11 measure rest at the beggining, > instead of a pickup + 10m rest. > > best regards, > Abel Korzeniowski > > > ___ > Finale mailing list > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > http://mail.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale > Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web! ___ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
