Sweaty Fjords During Winter
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Joe (7 year old gelding), gets pretty sweaty after an hour of steady ring work or trail riding - soaked to the skin sometimes. Aside from getting him into better condition - how do I handle this with his long winter coat and colder temperatures? I've never needed a cooler sheet for my other horses because they dried so fast, but should I be putting him in one? I have been brushing his hair up and back until his body cools down to a normal temp, but do I need to stay with him until he dries completely? Kate and Joe (basically, the best pony ever)

How did that horse know to back up to Martie for a tail rub? He has never done that to me and my first thought was he was threatening her. But he knew a Fjord person. Then my old boy, Trakehner, who has been going at a weaving gait put on a canter and extended trot, he only fell twice but in the same slippery spot, and wowed even me considering I had been thinking of putting him down the day before. Vet thinks he may have EPM. So we all enjoyed their visit and they are delightful people.
