This message is from: "Harold Kane" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hello friends, Sheri here, Does anyone care to respond to my request for advise concerning driving a 2 1/2 year old fjord named Redford (Regent), he's a red fjord. He is already ground driving between 2 lines very nicely. My hopes are to make him a therapeutic driving/riding horse for people who have disabilities. I have read Heicke Beans book. It is very niceseveral. I work with professional trainers, quarter horse people, and I have had numerous appaloosa horses, but I have not driven yet. I have ridden for 9 + years. Any advise would be appreciated. I read this digest everyday, like you wouldn't believe. I believe that no one knows everything, but we each have something to offer, no matter how much already know. Thanks ever so much. sheri ps Redford is carrying me in the walk and trot for short amounts of time and is very agreeable so far. >* > >

This message is from: "Harold Kane" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I have only written once on the digest. I am a new owner of a 2 year old fjordhorse named Redford,(Regent). He is a red fjordhorse. My family has owned a number of different breeds of horses in the past. I work for the Reins Therapeutic Riding group in Wisconsin. We provide safe riding experiences for people who have disabilities. I want so much to thank publicly a woman in River Falls, Wisconsin for her generous contribution of a 7 year old fjordhorse named Baldur's Harold, to our program. The Reins program is able to offer a service to people because of wonderful humans like Maurine in River Falls, Wisconsin. Harold was picked up yesterday from Baldur Farms and dropped off at his new home. He is such a nice guy out to pasture with the other horses, mostly arabs. My husband HAROLD,,, hehe,,, thinks he is perfect for the program and I absolutly love his reds/yellow color. We all agree that his wonderful peaceful and kind attitude will serve all of our special needs clients well. Thank you Maurine and family for your donation. These fjordhorse people are really something special. I sure enjoy being part of such a wonderful group. The horses are really something special too. If you don't mind I would love to update everyone on Harold's progress from time to time. I sure enjoy everyones input here on the fjorhorse digest. can't wait to check mail now, I learn so much. Thanks! Sheri

This message is from: "Harold Kane" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Just wanted to write in that I just returned from an overnight camping trip with my new 2 year old fjord named Redford. Ive had him about 2 months, Im new to the breed after owning apps. for about 6 yrs. My dream has always been to ride the trails and go in water alone or with other horses and riders along. I went with friends to a 4-H campout in Wisconsin. We had purchased 12 foot cattle gates that attach to each other to use as a round pen type turnout. It worked great! I saw similar with John Lyons.we bought6 pieces at Fleet Farm for $46.oo ea. My friends couldnt believe Red had only b een under saddle for 2 months, never even cantered. We went in a group of 6 people/horses. We even went in the river, he just walked in and took a drink. I actually had tears coming down my face. I kept yelling, "this is what life is all about". I had so many people stop and ask about him. What type of horse etc. etc. My red Fjord,, Redford..is everything I hoped him to be. Im a happy camper t onight. sheri >* > >

This message is from: "Harold Kane" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -Original Message- From: fjordhorse-digest <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>Thought you'd like to know that my new 2 year old Red Fjord and I went on our first trail with another woman and horse. The seasoned trail horse, quarterhorse, spooked 6-7 times, my horse, Redford never spooked once. I've only had him under saddle 7 times or so, always in an arena. Guess I got the horse I wanted, calm steady and strong. Sure love this new bred. Sheri
