I'm with Harry on this one. I have about 30 amplifiers of all different
manufacturers, most anyone who has ever produced amplifiers. The SGC-500 is
the bomb. It is a rugged auto-band switching solid state amp. Protection
circuitry for most any fault. No ALC required, Perfect for pairing with a
Flex radio. I've had mine for about 3 years now and nary a problem. I run mine
with a 35 amp power supply feeding a large Gel cell. The recommend a 90 amp
12 volt power supply, but I already had the P/S and gel cell.
The AL-1500 is also a great amp. In the last 5 years I've only made one
repair to mine. A cold solder joint from the factory. Either amp (or both
amps) would be an excellent choice for anyone's station.

I have a couple amps. My favorite for contesting is the AL-1500yep, it
blows a lot of smoke!!! My favorite all around amplifier is the SGC-500. I
have it connected to a 17 volt power supply and it puts out 700 clean
Watts all day long. Run a couple fans on the heat sink!! The SGC-500 allows me
to run it internet remote with no sweat operation. It automatically is on
theright band with its autotune capability. The ability to turn it on and
off and reset ?remotely along with seeing if I have popped one of the
protection circuits is great. Virtually industructable!!
