Index entry: highlighted page number out of sequence

2008-12-23 Thread Klaus Daube
You can higlight the page number of a particular index entry ba ending
it with a character format. However, in FM8 the page numbers will no
more be in sequece:

Define a character format to see the effect in the index.
On page 1
Enter a single level and a double level index marker, e.g. "bobbemaise"
and "tales:bobbemaise"
On page 2 enter the same index markers, but with ending charcter format
"bobbemaise" and "tales:bobbemaise"
On page 3 enter the same index markers as on page 1.

In FM 7 and 6 you get this index:
bobbemaise 1, 2, 3 with highlighted 2
tales
   bobbemaise 1, 2, 3 with highlighted 2

In FM8 you get this index:
bobbemaise 1, 3, 2 with highlighted 2
tales
   bobbemaise 1, 3, 2 with highlighted 2

Is this a bug in FM8 or a hidden feature?

That's a difficult question... ;-)

Either way, to get the page numbers sorted properly: add a space before the
character tag in the index entry.
For example: "bobbemaise " and "tales:bobbemaise "
