Try the above anyway.  There are known problems (and LORs) in kbdmux.

No i have a normal ps/2 keyboard connected to it.

Chances are you're using a USB keyboard.  Place the following in
/boot/loader.conf and reboot the machine:

hint.kbdmux.0.disabled="1"
