I don't have dvb myself but a recent posting on ILUG suggests you will
need the vdr sc
plugin.

[Freevo-users] dvb-s on freevo

2007-02-23 Thread Jaap Struyk
Hello,

I'am planning on adding an dvb-s card to my freevo box to record
tv-shows on ly before doing that I would like to find out a few things,
maybe one of you guys can help out on this.
First thing coming to my mind is: how much heat does a dvb card produce?
(if it's a lot, I have to build a small box around my pci card so the
heat doesn't affect the rest of my system)
Second is more complicated, since I'am living in Holland most channels
are encrypted and I have a smart-cart for encryption.
I have a dreambox dm500 for viewing with the card inside and there are
programs around that can read the card and share the codes on the
network so I could use that system for encryption.
I know that something like that is a "grey" area since it can be abused
but in my case it's fully legal (I think), maybe someone knows how this
works or knows some docs about it?
