[funsec] Issa Announces Oversight Hearing

2012-01-09 Thread Rob, grandpa of Ryan, Trevor, Devon & Hannah
You have got to be kidding me. A guy with the name "Issa" is launching
hearings
on infosec?

http://j.mp/A9G3fG (U.S. House)

"House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell
Issa (R-CA) today announced that the Full Committee will hold a
hearing on January 18 to examine the potential impact of Domain Name
Service (DNS) and search engine blocking on American cyber-security,
jobs and the Internet community. [...] The
Committee will hear testimony from top cyber-security experts and
technology job creators."

Competing bill, much narrower focus, and executed with this fairly
revolutionary "public comment" interface that drilled down to each section.

Issa's been excellent.

As of course has Wyden, who's really gone to the mat with this
hold/filibuster in the Senate.

I didn't say his proposal wasn't a better one than SOPA. I just still think
all these hearings should have preceded any bills being introduced. ;)

Speaking of Issa, this is seriously disappointing:
