Yes, a book would be useful. But I'd question why you're doing it. If
you're hoping to make money, then I'd say clearly the market for FVWM
isn't big enough, and it's not going to happen (having published a
book myself, I know a bit about this). If you're wanting to write it
simply to increase the level of knowledge about FVWM, then I think
it's a great idea. But at that point, I don't know if it would even be
worth publishing it in paper format, as opposed to, say, just a PDF.

Not to make money, no.

And publishers like No Starch Press publish books on lego, for instance. So
I'd hardly say market-share is really a limiting factor. :)

Hello Thomas Adam,

 Hello all,

I toy with this idea at least three times a year, which must mean something.
:) I know I've asked this in the past of most people, but I will ask it
again -- not so much in terms of the particulars -- but if there's enough
 interest.

Would a book on FVWM be useful?

Maybe. I had started writing a Book about FVWM 6-7 years ago and had
stoped because I was a lot overworked... It was a part of a series of
books about Debian GNU/Linux from the installation too the WHOLE
configuration...

BUT, -- nothing about KDE and GNOME!

Pure X-Windows System with WDM and FVWM!

I am thinking more in terms of discussing how/what to do with FVWM, and
what's needed to achieve it. The standards behind how FVWM manages windows,
and how FVWM allows the user to control what this means, etc.

ACK

In the past I have called for a co-contributor, but this has fallen though,
so I figure if it's ever to get off the ground, I'll probably have to go it
 alone, alas.

Hmmm Shit! Currently I am stressed again! :-/

What do people think? Whilst I realise the idea is a little odd, seeing as
a window manager changes a lot, but there's a tonne of stuff that could so
easily be written to make it somewhat timeless over different revisions of
 FVWM.

Yeah, when I started with my FVWM Book it was easy, but now in the last
6 years FVWM has changed a lot...

 Kindly,

Ich habe echt Lust, da mitzumachen...
