It's the part of IE that causes most of the security problems, which  
I think I heard they are going to do away with or disable by default  
in IE7.


That said, there's an ActiveX project for Firefox, but I have never  
tried it

Also, the MLS, at least for my Board of Realtors, although I think  
the MLS system is universal, is designed to use ONLY the latest  
version of IE. To get that, you will have to use one of the latest  
iterations of VPC. Your best bet for your real estate business  
would be to buy a copy of VPC 7 with Win XP Pro.


Agreed.  IE7 will not work with anything earlier than XP



BTW, from my experience, you don't need any of the software that is  
being peddled to agents to "help improve your business, get new  
clients, etc.". It is a waste of your money.


May be true (I have no reason to doubt you), but if there's "company  
software" you're probably going to be expected to run it regardless.

My wife was a real estate agent. Much of the MLS stuff worked fine with 
Macs, since it's basically web-based. Not sure what other software you 
use.
