Hi Michael, If you have a problem with someone using an abreviation, nickname, etc for something you should try and be more constructive about it. Instead of throwing a fit, as you did below, it is much more reasonable to say, "I don't know what RSW is, and have someone explain it to you." After all, those of us who have been on the list quite a while have gotten use to nicknames, abreviations, for lots of games like SOD for Shades of Doom, GTC for Tank Commander, LW for Lone Wolf, MOTA for Mysteries of the Ancients, etc. So if you need clarification all you have to do is ask nicely, and someone will tell you what you want to know. What is not exceptable is sending a post like the one below. Consider this your first official warning. On 2/23/11, Frost wrote: Well, I just looked up RSW on Google, and got a stock report and something about SouthWest Florida International airport, and I'm figuring this has absolutely NOTHING to do with the game previously mentioned, whatever the hell it is. Re: [Audyssey] mvc 3 arcade mode playthrough
I'm not saying the music is bad. I like it, I just like to hear some variation in the music... and every stage seems to consist almost exclusively of procussion or a few plunked out notes here and there. And, compared to other games, MK's music is just a bit generic for my tastes. Compare these four songs, for example. MK: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3394499/Mortal%20Kombat%20Deception%20-%20Arcade%20-%2007%20-%20Falling%20Cliffs.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3394499/Mortal%20Kombat%20Deception%20-%20Arcade%20-%2011%20-%20Lower%20Mines.mp3 Soul Calibur: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3394499/SC2%20OST%20-%201-07%20-%20Brave%20Sword%2C%20Braver%20Soul.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3394499/SC2%20OST%20-%201-11%20-%20Eternal%20Struggle.mp3 The MK tracks aren't bad... and I liked them. But soul calibur... another kettle of fish entirely. The MK music was turned down pretty low, just enough to be able to hear it and contribute to the atmosphere. Soul calibur had both sound and bgm turned all the way up. Nifty! Revenge is sweet. Just for an added twist, how about having the chicken respawn after one minute and keep track of the number of chicken kills players achieve. It would certainly add value to the clocks as players tried to extend game time to kill more chickens. Try searching for what you want. Most times it will come up with something if not right on topic. I search up anything I might be buying or want reviews on. [My Reply:] Hi David, About the only way I can see to do it is to generate a text file with each sector, followed by it's connecting sectors, the way it was in Tradewars 2000, back in the pre-internet, Bulletin Board System days. Since the map had 1000 sectors, the map was 1000 lines long, but I still had to create the map by hand, calculating routes from point A to B, to keep from using up my movement turns. I was spending the initial phazes of the game, mapping, finding a cluster of 3 or more sectors with only one way in that was defensible, creating planets in them, and mapping space stations routes which had the best trade potentials. It took a bit of work, even while I was sighted, but I'd think a list of sectors and their connections is the only way to go, and another list of trade sectors and what's being sold in them. That way you can see so-and-so is selling wheat and buying farm machinery, and whats-his-face is selling farm machinery and buying wheat, and they're only a few sectors apart. Voila, you've found a trade route. I used to love finding little clusters with a tunnel of sectors leading into them. Plant all your defenses in the tunnel to make a multi-staged defense against the bad guys, and protect your planets and stations, and create your own trade routes the way you like. Then go find the guys doing the same, stomp their guts out, take over their stuff and mine the crap out of their sector, so when they came back to the game, they'd be really ticked at you. <.evil grin.> Anyway, if Retro Space Wars is anything like Tradewars 2000, I think I'm gonna enjoy kicking your butts. <.grins.> Michael -- Linux User: 177869 # Powered By: Intel # http://rivensight.dyndns.org Postings Copyrighted 2010-2011 by: Michael Ferranti --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] mvc 3 arcade mode playthrough
Yup I'd already seen this, it's pretty cool. There's a whole series of these clips focusing on different characters. Search Youtube for Mortal Kombat 9 gameplay to find them. Lu Kang's one is cool, Noob Saibot's one has an awesome combo in it toward the end, but there are a few of them that worry me a little, like this one for Scorpion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g62X9pLGiKQ Something about the speed of that, or lack of it, irks me. It feels lumpy. Plus, the music is the weirdest thing I've heard in mk yet! I'm hoping that it's a case of each character plays dramatically differently though, because Scorpion seems this slow in everything I've seen, and maybe the soundtrack is a grower, who knows. This interview is awesome too, only a few key bits of game play are audable, but Ed covers quite a lot that's worth hearing about with the dialogue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izVZsnCiaWk On 2/24/11, Yohandy wrote: > Well I know that this video's getting me psyched for the game. check it and > tell me what you think! > http://goo.gl/VcKvR > - Original Message - > From: "Scott Chesworth" > To: "Gamers Discussion list" > Sent: Tuesday, February 22, 2011 7:55 PM > Subject: Re: [Audyssey] mvc 3 arcade mode playthrough > > >> Hmmm, agreed about MK's gameplay not being as deep nowadays. Luckily, there are going to be a few retro MK and Tekken titles on hand for retribution purposes lol. On 2/22/11, Clement Chou wrote: > Hope you have a good time!
