[Audyssey] 7-128 Software uses SAPI Voices in their games.

2010-08-07 Thread Phil Vlasak

7-128 Software now uses SAPI Voices in their games.
7-128 Software games that are BL rated have always self-voiced as well as
worked with JAWS.

But our voice was, well... not shall we say very "elequant".
We've changed that.
Now all of our games that are accessible to gamers who are blind can use the
Speech Application Programming Interface (SAPI) voice or voices you already
have installed in your Windows computer.

* Our new SAPI capability is in all of our Inspector Cyndi in Newport games.
* It's in 3 very different Tyler memory games: Kim's Game, Snowflake, and
Orchestra.
* It's in3 Woople word games: Definitions, Synonyms and Antonyms, and
Scrambled Sayings.

* And it's in all of our Pizza Games for children.
* And, of course, in our GameBook and PizzaBox.
Furthermore, when you install any GameBook game purchased after 1 August,
2010, your GameBook and all of your previously purchased GameBook games are
automatically upgraded to SAPI, totally FREE!
Similarly, when you install any new Pizza game purchased after 1 August,
2010, your PizzaBox and all of your previously purchased Pizza games are
automatically upgraded to SAPI, again, totally FREE.

Thank you so much for your kind words Dark, Phil and Thomas! Our
programmer is taking a week off - it was a challenge to get SAPI in
place and to have it update the GameBook as well! But you can now use
your favorite SAPI voice instead of Kevin.

If anyone gets the credit for it - it is Dark who made the comments that
finally convinced marketing to agree that we should temporarily drop new
development and retrofit SAPI to our existing games.

Anyhow we hope that everyone can use their favorite SAPI voice now and
not have to depend on the shark!

Kevin was a free TTS voice. We used it because when we started to develop our
games, we couldn't afford to buy the rights to use a better voice. Also we
were learning the technology that goes with self-voicing. When we changed to
SAPI, we also smoothed and improved the interface and hope that you will find
our games much better than before.

Hi Phil,
Thanks for the news. That rocks. I happen to like the 7128 games and
it is very cool they are now Sapi 5 compatible.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] 7-128 Software uses SAPI Voices in their games

2010-08-08 Thread dark

Obviously I have an undiscovered tallent for strategical complaining, ;D.

Seriously, i'm actually very pleased about this developement, sinse the
voice really wasn't great in terms of gaming, especially considdering that
so many 7-128 games depend upon the correct hereing of words, or
understanding of text and comments, all of which will be much improved by
using any sapi voice, and especially by serious gamers who will
probably have good voices anyway as discussed earlier.

Beware the grue!

Dark.
