[Audyssey] Klango question
Hi all, I could ask this on the klango forums, but I couldn't read the answer, so that's why I am asking it here. I can not read the text using klango. When I tab to a text field in which is a text, I hear the message text area or edit line, but I don't here what is written there. Also I can not read the text using the arrow keys and any other reading commands... Please, what would you suggest? Thanks! That seems pretty unlikely. The Klango games I've tried so far have been fairly simple ones. It's probably possible to build something like that using Klango though. Same with a really good interactive fiction game player. However, I suspect we're more likely to see something like an audio arcade game or more of the simpler puzzle-style games. I've enjoyed being proved wrong before though. Re: [Audyssey] Klango not working
Hi Hanna. as I said, it was the Klango player which was not working, either crashing and going silent, or running without Sapi. thanks to Kuvosh's suggestion about setting the windows environment to 2.1 speakers instead of surround, it seems to be working now. Hi, I'm the one of the people who are responsible for the Klango Player, a new accessible multimedia and community center. We would like to invite all developers to submit their software to a new Software Catalog we will be launching in a few days. Some time ago we tried to create a few audio games and other small programs for the listening people, but after a year we already knew that reachability of the VI audience is the main problem of such activity. Because we didn't want to give up, we stopped making games and started designing a new software platform which could be used as an efficient medium for delivering (acessible) software and other interactive multimedia content to broader, worldwide VI audience. It took us almost two years to finish the first stage of the adventure. We are happy to announce that the final version of the Klango Player 2.0 will be released on 6th October. With a single download, and thanks to Player's simple user interface, even non-experienced blind users (not only geeks like you;) get easy access to the Player's functions and some additional Klango Programs (through a built-in install/update mechanism). Now, we are finishing the puzzle by adding the Software Catalog dedicated to all developers interested in publishing their software to the community. If it comes to the community, it grows everyday with new users from all over the world ...without any advertisement from our side. Even now, when the Player is online just for two months (as a beta), we have over 1000 users and each day hundreds of people log into Klango and have a good time with it (take a look at the forums). New language versions are being developped by users themselves ...and so on. So... getting back to the point of this email: if you're a developer and the Klango Community matches somehow your target audience, simply submit your software to the Catalog. :) It's a simple operation and you can be sure you'll gain a lot of new users for your applications. If you submit your app, it will be listed in the Player's menu and users will be able to download, install and run it directly from the Player with just a few keypresses. Of course, submitting aplications to the Software Catalogue is completely free. More detailed information about the Software Catalog and details of the submition process can be found in our Partner Panel, http://partner.klango.net. You have to own a Klango Account to enter the Panel, but we hope it's not a big problem for you :) Simply download the Player and create one. We suggest you to get the For Testers version, because it's almost up-to-date if it comes to various features. It's URL is http://setuptest.klango.net. You can also read more about the player at http://en.klango.net/readme/. Please note that the possibility of downloading your applications is not available in the current versions of the Player. If we recieve your submission(s) to the catalog (through the panel), we'll release a final-beta version next week to test how the machinery works in real conditions before we enter full 2.0. Hi list, Does anyone have any ideas as to why my Klango menus aren't working? I managed to fix my SAPI5 problem, am currently playing Jim Kitchen's games no problem, but the Klango menus just aren't working at all. I've attempted to email the Klango team, but the email bounced back as undeliverable. Thanks. Hi. Do you have a voice that doesn't work properly? Maybe the menu voice is trying to use one, or something that doesn't support stereo panning for some reason. Can you try changing the menu voice? But you probably can't, because the menus don't work. - Original Message - From: Damien Sadler [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Friday, September 26, 2008 11:51 AM Subject: [Audyssey] Klango Hi list, Does anyone have any ideas as to why my Klango menus aren't working? Re: [Audyssey] Klango Software Catalog - would you like to submit your software?
thats quite good, will users of the system be able to access this as well as other klango services from within the player be able to access this online? like on the actual website? also at some point will one be able to get an account on the website and signup there as well as the player. if a load of stuff comes up I may recomend this stuff to other normal non blind etc people. However I doubt they will want to get the player just to view a catalog, although the player seems to be almost a new os at least a shell. good work on it by the way. I'd like books to be avalible to on the website at least the downloads for them and search to, also would be good if at some stage in the future users could use their userid as some sort of email address on the site or maybe a msn passport thingy. keep it up. to be honest I think all klango stuff is a load of crap. I'm not blaming this on the developers involved in this but all the klangogames.com stuff is old software which came out with the first generation of the klango shell. This latest version is able in addition to playing games, to play files, radio, download and play books, and other podcasts. You can get themes, etc. Now I wander if klango will become a linux type os for the blind. if so I am tempted to switch over from windows, especially after I heard all the bad wrap today on del turning off stereo mix and then charging 99 bucks to get it back to satisfy the riaa. Re: [Audyssey] klango
Hi shaun, I'd find that highly unlikely. Klango is just a specialized runtime environment for Klango applications using the lua programming language. that is kind of like saying the .Net framework is going to become its own operating system someday. Not going to happen. As for a Linux for the blind, sheesh, there is already such a thing available. Why would someone need to reinvent the wheel? shaun everiss wrote: to be honest I think all klango stuff is a load of crap. Hi. Well I know this stuff was mentioned a while ago on here. I have discovered through various blogs that klango has 2 parts. There is the klango game thing we are used to but then another called klango player. You can run games, play files, download audio books and stuff. And well it makes you feel like you have a apple mac. First go to www.klango.pl to get the latest game engine if you want the engine. then www.klangogames.com to get the games. www.klango.net is where the player is, most stuff can be gotten in the program If you don't care about winamp or anything well this may be cool for you. Its like another os, and its free. I hope that someone can make things like net brouser, office type programs and email type things with this. All in a single program which has been designed and tested by hundreds of people who in large majority are blind. Over a year of hard work, thousands hours of testing and disscusions gave a great effect. Please check it out. Tell us what do you think about the Klango Player and take part in its further developement! We are looking forward to hearing from you! You can post your comments and suggestions to the forum and use Questions Answers mechanism directly from the Player itself. In the case of problems with running Klango Player, please read the readme file and use the support form at http://support.klango.net . And now the best part: the Klango Player is a _FREE_ software and you can download it for free by pointing your web browser to http://setup.klango.net . However, please forgive us, our main web site (klango.net) is still under construction. All the best! Re: [Audyssey] Klango player!
I was wondering when someone was gonna post about this. This software is absolutely awesome. You can tell it's still in it's early stages, but the developers are really friendsly and are fixing errors as people report them. it's worth checking out. and it's free. which is nice. - Original Message - From: Jimmy Odin Kristoffersen [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Saturday, June 28, 2008 12:20 PM Subject: [Audyssey] Klango player!
