[Audyssey] what would you like?
Dear list! In the last days i have tryed some programming languages like basic4ppc, VB6, and so on. My question is now: On wich platforms do you like games? Do you like games on the windows mobile platform? Do you need games for the Symbian fones? Or do you like games for the PC only? Please send ous your opinion and we will se what we can do! I can't answer your question propperly as I don't know what type of game you have in mind. It all depends on the type of game you make. Sertain games are just too memory and processor intensive to run on the symbian phones for example. And if you use large sound files, the game will get too bulky. Although there are people using other opperating systems like linux and mack, the majority of people use only windows or has access to a windows pc. I would like a game for the simbian platform, but it all depends. I won't install a game onto my phone that takes up 100 mb ! So make us a game and then we'll decide if we want to buy or not. I like games on whatever I have that I can use. right now that would be windows xp and higher, and at some point symbian but really its windows and for most that would be the case. Hi Claudio, Well, my first choice would be games for Windows. My second vote would be for Linux based games. I'd also like to see the Mac games market grow. However, that said attempting to target multiple operating systems and devices is by no means an easy task. I know, because I have tried it with C++, Java, and Python and you always lose something by trying to do too much by supporting everything. For example, if you target a MS Windows platform, even an older one, you can take advantage of Sapi 5, DirectX, etc which has proven themselves to be good technologies for game developers. On Mac OS and Linux their game development kits aren't as well featured, and are holy different from those available on a Windows based platform. Even using something like Java has disadvantages as you will base your code of the jdk rather than take advantage of operating specific development libraries and development kits.
