Re: [VOTE] Release the Apache Pegasus 2.1.0

2020-10-22 Thread vongosling
Hi,

-1, binding

1. There are many files without a license header.
2. License file has not listed the dependencies statement. AFAIK, there are
many MIT and other licenses in pegasus.
3. It would be nice to list the release note when voting for release. I
usually encourage peoples to do it. Someone may be interested in your new
version. and quickie help to vote for release :-)
4. I also recommend to add release-manual to your website. The community
could vote as your guide, thereby avoiding unnecessary rc1, rc2, rc3...

p.s
I really understand the license difficulties in some of the c++ projects
when the first release in podling. Here are two references[1][2] for you.
In addition, I hope you could check this link carefully[3]:-)

When all issue have been resolved then I would name it DISCLAIMER, probably
best to keep DISCLAIMER WIP at this piont.

Thanks, Justin. After removing stale issues and adding the statement on GPU
license, assuming we address any other license issue in the next rc, should we
name it as simply DISCLAIMER instead of DISCLAIMER-WIP? I thought it should be
the case and just want to confirm.

Best,
Sheng

Just carry my +1 (binding) here from the previous vote thread.

I suggest that we provide a dockerfile for building and verifying so others
will be more easy to verify your release.

Thanks.

Questions from Dave Fisher

2020-10-22 Thread Andrew Wetmore
Hi:

I tried and failed to subscribe to this list, so I have to remember to
check the archive to see responses to what I post.

Dave Fisher had these questions/comments about our page of Infra info for
podlings:

(1) Since you show .asf.yaml there should be a short paragraph and a
pointer to that documentation. - I will add those

(2) Regarding LDAP do you think it’s worth discussing that it is usually
maintained in whimsy? - I will check with the team. Can't hurt!

(3) Is there a document that describes the ICLA to account creation
process? Or should I ask the Secretary? - There is such a page, but it is
in the Foundation area on the main site. - we discuss it here [1]. I will
provide a link to it.

1. https://infra.apache.org/new-committers-guide.html

Thanks for the feedback!
