RE: Re: [DISCUSS] Incubating Proposal of DevLake

2022-04-10 Thread Hezheng Yin
Hi Felix,

Thank you for your interest in DevLake and we're excited to have you as our
mentor.

- Both DevLake and DevStream (https://github.com/devstream-io/devstream) are
initially developed at Merico. DevLake is a DevOps data platform while
DevStream is a DevOps toolchain manager, which helps developers install and
integrate DevOps tools (like yum or apk for DevOps tools). They're led by two
independent teams but do share a few contributors.

- We don't know GitHub user philipjung164 and he is not a contributor to
DevLake. We're not sure why he duplicated DevLake's repo on GitHub without
forking it. While browsing his GitHub profile, we noticed that he also
duplicated Apache Superset and CNCF Jaeger in a similar fashion. Do you have
any advice regarding these dup repos on GitHub?

Thanks again and please let us know if you have any other questions.

All the best,
Hezheng

Re: [DISCUSS] Incubating Proposal of DevLake

2022-04-20 Thread Hezheng Yin
Hi JB,

Thanks for your interests in DevLake. One key difference between DevLake and
Gobblin/NiFi is that Gobblin/NiFi are domain agnostic general frameworks while
DevLake specializes in the domain of software development data. This focus
allows DevLake to better “understand” the data that it ingests, cleanses,
transforms, analyzes, and visualizes for developers. At the foundation of this
understanding is DevLake’s data
model
built on top of the software development process. We’ll keep expanding this
model as DevLake supports new DevOps tools (data sources) requested by the
community. If you have any other question or suggestion, please let us know.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Best,
Hezheng

Hi,

Thank you all for your guidance. This is extremely helpful as DevLake works
towards its first ASF release. We'll address all the feedback and re-start
the voting process.

And to be sure, we should go through the community vote step again before
making another voting thread in general@incubator.apache.org. Is this
correct? Thanks in advance!

Re: [VOTE] Release Apache DevLake (Incubating) v0.11.0-rc1

2022-06-24 Thread Hezheng Yin
Hi Felix, thanks for the suggestion. If we were able to resolve the
licensing issues Justin raised, would you still recommend us switching to
WIP DISCLAIMER?

Hi Justin, thanks for the clarification. We have gone through all the
image files in the release:

1. All flaticon icons [1] are replaced with blueprintjs icons [2] that have
Apache 2.0 license.
2. For images created by ourselves, do we need to formally license them? If
so, is there a guideline that we can follow?
3. In DevLake UI, we also make use of GitHub/GitLab/Jenkins/Jira logos on
the integration page. We found their logo usage guidelines [3][4][5][6]
online but couldn't find a formal license for these logos. For example, the
GitHub Logos and Usage page [3] states it's ok to "Use the Octocat or
GitHub logo to advertise that your product has built-in GitHub
integration". Is it compliant with Apache policy to include such logos in
the release?

We'll restart the voting process on the DevLake mailing list once we
address the issues above.

[jira] [Created] (INCUBATOR-274) Gives Orbit (orbit.love) access to GitHub repos

-

Summary: Gives Orbit (orbit.love) access to GitHub repos
 Key: INCUBATOR-274
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INCUBATOR-274
 Project: Incubator
  Issue Type: Task
  Components: git
Reporter: Hezheng Yin

Dear Infra Team,

I'm looking to set up Orbit (orbit.love, a community growth platform) for
DevLake. I ran into a permission issue when I tried to give Orbit access to
DevLake's repos as shown below:

!image-2022-12-07-18-27-43-771.png|width=598,height=637!

Is there any workaround that may get this integration working? Thanks in
advance for your guidance!

Description:
Dear Infra Team,

I'm looking to set up Orbit (orbit.love, a community growth platform) for
DevLake. I ran into a permission issue when I tried to give Orbit access to
DevLake's repos as shown below:

!image-2022-12-07-18-31-47-181.png|width=950,height=1012!

Is there any workaround that may get this integration working? Thanks in
advance for your guidance!
