Now you could not get me to use lilo I also experimennt with lots of kernel versions and modifications. I routinely keep many kernels as boot options. Grub makes it all easy. I to keep a lot of kernels around just in case something went belly up. Being able to edit grub at the boot screen is nice too. If you can switch, it is well worth it. I also use Grub, but only because the interface is nicer and I don't have to load the boot sector every time I update the kernel. However, there is a catch.
