[Gimp-user] Miniature in top left corner when opening tiff images scanned with Nikon Coolscan V
Hi! I am having trouble editing tiff images captured using Nikon Coolscan V. Gimp shows the image with a miniature of the same image added in the top left corner. I can't make it go away. This happens both on Linux and on Windows. When viewing the same image using gThumb (Linux) or Windows Image Viewer (Windows XP), it works just fine. Why is this? Does it have something to do with the Nikon ICC profile? What can I do to prevent this? Hardware: Nikon Coolscan V. Scanner software: Nikon Scan 4.0 Some images edited by Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0. Scanning and editing has been made on Windows XP. Thank You very much ! I can't make it go away. This happens both on Linux and on Windows. This is the preview thumbnail stored in the file by the camera, the Gimp interprets it as another layer so it appears on top. Either delete the layer or tell the camera not to generate thumbnails in the first place. -- Bruno ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
[Gimp-user] Re: Gimp 2.2
Hi Grady, I'm forwarding your mail to the GIMP user's list - bugmaster isn't the best forum for this type of question, and you're more likely to get a decent answer and some help over there. Cheers, Dave. Grady, Jordan wrote: Hello, None of the plugins or script-fu work on my machine. For those of you who don't know Computer Arts is a very popular design magazine with awesome tutorials. Has anybody heard back from them or designers that have used the software? I'm willing to follow up and ask them about it. It would be great to hear from a large base of pro designers about Gimp. Pro designers you mispelled pro developers with patches or lots of sponsorship money :P I'd be very surprised if readers of Computer Arts magazine had any new comments that haven't already been discussed on the mailing list or discussed. Did they include any kind of a review? Based on their past comments I'd expect lots of criticism for not being more like photoshop. Generally they do complain about programs for not copying or doing better than the market leaders. They probably also neglected to mention features like PSPI which allows Photoshop plugins to be used, and didn't mention the photoshop style keybindings which can be found in psmenurc. -- Alan ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
Re: [Gimp-user] what causes platform color differences
They both look pale on my Linux driven monitor. It sounds like you are hitting a gamma issue. I -think- the Mac uses a gamma of 1.8 where as Linux and Windows is usually set to a gamma of 2.2.You might check out this site and see if it helps: http://www.normankoren.com/makingfineprints1A.html#gammachartOn 5/22/06, Never you mind [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:I'm having trouble with a background image http://www.australiantoyweekly.com.au/images/fun-bg-10.png and http://www.australiantoyweekly.com.au/images/fun-bg-10.gif.The image is very pale. It displays nicely on my Mac and my FreeBSD boxbut on the Windows machine the reds and yellows are completely washed out. What causes such a difference in display and how can I minimise thateffect?malcolm___Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDUhttps://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
