Re: [GLLUG] Web hosting

Dear all,

Thanks to everyone who replied. I went with mythic beasts in the end,
though am thinking it would be a good idea to spread my (too) many sites
over a couple of hosts, and will be keeping other options in mind.

Thanks very much!

Can anyone suggest a decent web host, using linux servers?

I've not yet used them myself, but Mythic Beasts do that kind of thing
and are fairly well regarded.

Can't say I've noticed and I've been with them since 2004 maybe, but
I'll keep an eye out.

I'm wary of recommending anything, but I have used Dreamhost in the
States for at least 20 years with many sites and no major issues for
general web hosting. They run Ubuntu now, was Debian which I preferred,
and you get console access and ssh. This is for shared hosting.

Oh PS Dreamhost founders are behind Ceph, just for interest's sake...

I too would recommend Mythic Beasts on the grounds of general cluefulness.

Another option might be BitFolk - https://bitfolk.com/ - who are
similarly clueful. With them it would be a case of having your own
entire VPS, but one of the many things which you could do with it is web
hosting.
