David,

It's not always that particular string; it depends on what type the financial
institution tags the transaction with. For example when I pulled in my credit
card this morning the descriptions all began with "Generic debit;".

This new misbehavior happens only with AQBanking, which doesn't and hasn't ever
populate the Notes field. The OFX/QFX file importer inserts the "OFX ext. info"
string into the Notes field.

I have not tried it with other transactions. It is happening with the same
transaction, but I created it several times and with different versions. I
also completely uninstalled and reinstalled software.

2017-07-06 Thread David Carlson
Sorry, I am confused about field names. Is that new message in the
description field instead of the current data or is it actually in the
Notes field where the previous message was prepended to the FI note?

It's a new feature [1] that was supposed to apply only to HBCI, so there's an
option to enable it on the HBCI import dialog but not the OFX one where it's
enabled by default.

GnuCash not working

TWIMC,

I just downloaded GnuCash from the Ubuntu Software site. When I start it up
all I get is a blank screen with "Cancel" and "Save" in the upper left
corner. Anyone know what is going on?

What version of GnuCash and what OS/Distro and version?

Does this happen with every report or have you tried only one so far? Does the
error message display in a dialog box or in the report tab?

Please attach a trace file [1] from a session after encountering the error.

I'm not able to replicate this. Does it happen when you reuse any transaction

David

Thanks for the quick response.

When I type in the first couple of letters in the payee field, the full
name is auto-populated. I then hit the tab key to have the full
transaction populate with the most recent values. Gnucash crashes right
here. When I restart the program, I can sometimes (2.6.16) get the
transaction to work one time, but 2.6.17 doesn't give me even that before
it crashes again.

2.6.15 didn't seem to have this problem for me.
