Re: [Goanet] Congress rebirth?
Joao, You are 100% correct. No one in this forum talks about corruption and scandals as you did, that caused Congress failure. On Fri, Nov 21, 2014 at 5:45 PM, Joao Barros-Pereira joaobarrospere...@gmail.com wrote: Who needs tiatr when we have the Goa Congress? We are now informed that Luizinho Falaero has called on senior Congress leaders to groom the young leadership. What can they teach them other than how to be corrupt and use their position to make a lot of money illegally? If there is anything good that they can teach them it must be a closely guarded secret, even more so than than defense! He says with a straight face that Congress leaders need to do introspection and find out what has gone wrong with the party! And, if the party needs to apologize to the people they should be prepared to apologize to the people. For what? For robbing the people of Goa more than the Portuguese ever did or the whole of India more than the British Raj even dreamed of? Tiatr is nowhere as good as this and our Goan actors or IFFC stars are nowhere in the same galaxy of stars. Goans, even unschooled Goans, are not going to be taken in by all this, and if the Congress Party is really sincere they should all get together and have a mega meeting where they will reveal how an ordinary Goan can go from rags to riches! I'm sure the whole of Goa will attend this meeting, and it will be more popular than IFFC and all the other festivities included.

[Goanet] ACCHE DIN FOR THE VERY DUBIOUS NARAYAN NAVTI
Narayan Navti who is currently Goa’s acting Chief Electoral Officer and also the Director of Panchayats is awfully tainted. The alleged BA degree he had claimed to have obtained in 1988 from Osmania University in Andhra Pradesh is allegedly fake and has gone missing from the government records. As per the government records he is only 12th Std which he passed in 1978 at the age of 19. Narayan Navti joined government service as a Talathi on 10 th March 1987. In 1993 based on that fake BA degree he was selected by the Goa Public Service Commission and posted as Joint Mamlatdar at Satari. As Narayan Navti is currently under the scanner of the Vigilance department, how does the government allow such a stained officer to hold very senior positions? But it is now “Acche din” for the beleaguered Narayan Navti because of his very close links with the RSS and the saffron brigade. The Goa government’s now known guiding principle of Zero action against the corrupt has also come to the rescue of Narayan Navti. If that is true then it's shame on the Church, its an act of disrespecting the Saint. Police, committee members etc were posing for camera in groups with the relics in front. 'Do not photograph persons', O that's only in Basilica? Moreover, devotees were impatiently waiting in the Q, it was around 1.30pm and they have not started taking from the Q yet Mass was also extended just for the purpose of thanksgiving by calling out their names up to three times (bilingual) . This could have been avoided. It has now become a fashion to thank everybody by their names and even public applause, be it a feast or funeral. Little consideration has been given to those people who come from far and wide. The Church committee did well except the Photo session part in the Se cathedral. Looks like Police has taken over the event from there. There was no discipline even amongst the priests and Church members, everybody was too close to the casket, something that disorderly organised and the police were called in to do the job? What more, people were watching it all Live on the Giant Screen. There was a helicopter like remote controlled noisy devise flying over (taking aerial pics /Video of the relics?) I wonder, if they have taken any prior permission from the authority. It could have been anything.. [Goanet] Fwd: Sporting Clube de Goa overcome Calangute
*Sporting Clube de Goa overcome Calangute* Boima Jerry Karpeh netted a fine brace as Sporting Clube de Goa overcame Calangute Association 3-0 in Gfa’s Goa Pro League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Saturday. Sporting Goa led 2-0 at the interval. It was a comfortable victory for Sporting Goa, who brought back Anthony Wolfe into the side to partner Boima Karpeh upfront, while Glenton Wolfe was rested. Sporting Goa took the lead after just thirteen minutes, when Boima was lurking to opportunistically tap in a wonderful cross from Anthony. Just before the breather, the Flaming Oranje stepped on the gas one more time, with Boima feeding Mauvin Borges who performed a repertoire of dummies and step-over’s, before letting fly a stiff grounder into the far corner of the net. In the second session, Sporting Goa continued to dominate possession and kept raining shots on the Calangute goal. If it was not for the heroics of the Calangute custodian Gerard D’Mello, it could have been worse. In the final five minutes, Sporting Goa substitute Joe Pereira collapsed in the box after falling victim to a reckless challenge. Boima stepped up to convert the penalty and seal the three points for the Flaming Oranje. PHOTO: Sporting Clube de Goa Captain Boima Jerry Karpeh jumps high to win the aerial ball. The priests arrived at the Basilica at about 5.30 pm and proceeded to the Mausoleum in the Chapel of Fr Francis Xavier, where Archbishop Ferrao invoked a short prayer before the Relics of St Francis Xavier. After reciting the prayer, the Archbishop and priests observed a few moments of silence. The solemn ceremony to lower the crystal glass urn containing the relics of the famed 16th century Jesuit missionary was then set in motion. Under close attention of the Archbishop and the priests, a team of skilled personnel carefully and reverently lowered the casket from the mausoleum. With reverence befitting the occasion, the personnel then carried the glass urn containing the relics to a short distance, where they handed it to Archbishop Ferrao and the five priests. The clerics then carried the casket to the historic 17th century Sacristy of the Basilica. Standing before the relics, the Archbishop and the priests sang the renowned Konkani hymn ‘St Franciscu Xaviera’, bringing to an end the solemn ceremony at about 6 pm.The relics were left in the Sacristy for the night, amid a strong security cover. They will be brought out on Saturday and taken to the Se Cathedral where they will be kept for veneration.Millions of pilgrims and devotees are expected to attend the six-week-long Exposition, which will commence with a Solemn Pontifical Mass on Saturday at 9.30 am, at which Archbishop of Mangalore Aloysius D'Souza will be the main celebrant. The mass will be celebrated at a specially erected pandal outside the Basilica. Besides Bishop D’Souza, Archbishop Ferrao and some other bishops, and a large number of priests will concelebrate the mass.Once the relics have been placed in the Cathedral, the Archbishop will incense them and will pray along with the priests gathered. The devotees will then be allowed to kiss the Relics and can continue their journey of faith to a big pandal adjacent to the Cathedral, where the Religious Congregations will be showcasing their charisms and how they live it. An exhibition on faith by the Diocesan Centres and stage presentations to live the message of faith in the present context are part of the Exposition programme. There will also be counselling and prayer line services in the pandal.===http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/goa/Faithful-proceed-to-Old-Goa/articleshow/45235696.cms Faithful proceed to Old Goa OLD GOA: A corner of the Basilica corridor, nearest to the mausoleum housing the Sacred Relics of St Francis Xavier, has been much coveted by pilgrims through the years, for they believe it offers them a few days of proximity tothe saint.Although the Sacred Relics will be placed in the Se Cathedral for veneration this year, the devotees that have slowly begun to trickle into Old Goa continue to head straight to the Basilica of Bom Jesus to occupy their usual spaces in the corridors.Luciana Monteiro is among the scores of pilgrims who have made this area their home for decades, right from their childhood, during the annual run-up to the feast of the Spanish saint. Now, all of 76-years-old, the frail lady from Bastora hopes to stay in the Basilica precincts for the next 10 days.My children and grandchildren are working. They have no time to stay here. They will come in the morning, attend mass and go to work, Monteiro said, leaning against the few belongings she had brought with her.Every year, thousands of pilgrims visit Old Goa to participate in the nine-day novena to St. Francis Xavier. Numbers are expected to swell this year as his Sacred Relics are lowered for veneration. While most devotees come for a day or two, a few hundred pilgrims stay for the entire duration of the novena. The situation is expected to be no different this year, except for the fact that pilgrims may stay on for a longer duration.Monteiro is not alone
