,soccer promoter
Jose Menino do Rosario Furtado  alias JOE MENY was born on 19.03,1952 to Mr
Luis Piedade, Mrs Marcelina and passed away on 26.11.2022,He has 3 sons, Fr
Mark SFX, a priest and a blessing in the family. He was named so after
grandmother's favourite actor who died on the day of  his birth. A devoted
husband, retired prematurely as a chef on ship to  care  for his late
ailing wife Mrs Maria Francisca .A strict disciplinarian had  a vision for
his children to excel
He studied  Segundo Grau in Portuguese and completed his SSC..He devoted
his time and meagre resources to further his passion of  Kon Literature in
Roman Script. at 18 years and  a was a voracious reader. He wrote his
scripts on board the ship and then directed, staged his dramas in the
villages etc. initially  with children providing them a platform. He staged
a drama with all ladies as the cast. HIs knowledge of solfege, playing
clarinet enabled him to set the musical  score for his plays  His plays 1.

He was  a good organizer and promoter of  Soccer.. He was most dedicated
member,  associated with Sarzora football club and founder Chairman of
 VILLAGERS OF CHINCHINIM UNION sports and cultural  in 1989 ,It was a real
challenge to coexist with. established club, scout for layers  and
financial constraints, Resources were raised through tournaments,
donations, coupons.,  fellowships and gatherings.  Velim , Navelim
,Assolna  youth were also encouraged, Training programmes on Saturdays,
Sundays, October and May vacations with local coaches helped to identify
talent. Participation was in third division and under 14 and 16 age groups
.Many teams were fielded in numerous village tournaments with great
success. The club revived the football sports in a big way , specially when
the other club was  practically dormant Attention was also given to other
sports activities He carried on surmounting obstacles without its own
premises, ground etc.Many of the club players have found a career opening
with  professional  clubs, The club has registered its identity in the
soccer field making the village proud once again He was a trained GFA
referee too.
Recognition was his crowning glory of  appreciation for his gigantic
efforts in the field of Konkanni literature as playwright, poet, composer
and a  novelist. ZOIT in 1980 received KBM Sahitya award.. AILI FUR MURMANT
PUR was awarded by International . Year of  the Child,  Goa Chapter He was
honoured with Kala Gaurav Puruskar in 2013.2014.. Dalgado Konkani
Academy Puruskar in 2012  raised his status as a writer of repute and
worthy of recognition and honour
Joe Meny has reached the heights of excellence in Konkanni literature  and
achieved laurels as the  founder chairman of sports club. Chinchinim is
proud of his  valuable contributions and salutes this humble and  simple

This juror Lapid has caused similar embarrassment of  love and hate
relatiobship in  his own country supporting Palestine and Israel  being
accused.The Ambassador of Israel has disowned his insensitive  remarks.The
point is why such a  critic and film maker was appointed as  head of jury
in the first place ,
without systematic background check and his known views on holocaust
supporter

IT is a fact that many Indians too have different, divergent  opinion about
facts,  exaggeration, sensalisation an attempt to polarise It is a right to
agree to disagree but to label it  as vulgar and propaganda  is a different
issue.The film  fraternity in India  is silent about his observation and
indifferent  for the fear of backlash His caustic remarks create turbulence
in India and indirect support of genocide
What action can be taken against Lapid except condemnation and censure.In
the bargain he is hogging limelight internationally for time being

As taxpayers money cannot be poured down the drain, any new project or
proposal the Government plans to introduce should be well thought over and
planned in keeping with the available infrastructure and feasibility. This
is what should happen. The reality is different.

Over the last few years the Tourism Department amidst much euphoria
introduced Hot air balloon, amphibian’s vehicle, helicopter ride, Hop on
buses, Women taxis and other fantasies which all soon came a cropper. Those
responsible for ushering in such projects should have been brought to book.

At Bambolim that very ill designed underpass near Goa Medical College is
another casualty where the taxpayers have had to foot the bill. That the
Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) lacked technical
experts is very evident as they have failed to work out that there would be
flooding during the monsoon in absence of a proper drainage system and
installation of hydraulic pumps. As a result the underpass turns into a
swimming pool during the monsoons with neither the St Andre nor St Cruz
MLAs having cared to speak out on the subject of this ill conceived
underpass which is on the border of their assembly constituencies. Nobody
knows why all those shops were built which have remained unused for years
since the opening of that underpass.

The state of the roads across Goa also doesn’t seem to be the concern of
the authorities. In the peak of this Tourism season, the roads across
Anjuna and Vagator are very accident prone especially for two wheelers as
driving on those potholed roads would land you in hospital with serious
injuries. Driving along those roads makes you feel like passing through a
mining zone with dust pollution galore. All this while those in Power are
merrily snoozing and snoring in chauffeur driven vehicles.

The major handicap that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant faces is his inability
to communicate in English which for a State like Goa is a great
predicament. Recently addressing a conference he is quoted as having said
that Goa was a tourist ‘parasite’ instead of saying ‘paradise’. What a
gaffe which put us all to shame. Pramod Sawant should have on a priority
taken a crash course in English so that he could attain the much needed
skills of the language in which our State is governed as well as the
international medium of communication.

Pramod Sawant is better known as Property Sawant on account of the huge
property empire he swiftly amassed. But had he cared to enrich himself with
the much needed English skills he would have attained what matters the most.

Goa’s first Chief Minister Dayanand Bandodkar may have also not been
conversant in English but in those days perhaps it did not matter as Goa
was just a Union Territory and Dayanand Bandodkar was anyway a charismatic
Chief Minister and a leader of the masses, alike, of whom Goa has not seen
another one.

For now, Pramod Sawant would be well advised to restrict his sermonizing to
Konkani and Marathi to save the State and its people from such needless
embarrassment.

Another Ghastly murder

The gruesome  murder of Sharda has found echo in another similar case
The step son along with mother Poonam plotted to eliminate the husband ,
the nuisance .The flash point was sale of her ornaments  and gifting the
proceeds to his old wife, mother of stepson.Besides his lecherous behaviour
towards his wife was of serious concerns.He also was constantly disturbing
the peace in the family.
They got him intoxicated   adding  some drugs too and ensured he was
unconscious.They then slit his throat ,left the body to drain, cut it into
ten pieces, stored  in the fridge and with the mother disposed of the
remains together in a polythene  bag
The incident happened in June but has surfaced now
The plot is a rerun of latest case making national headlines
Has this  been a familiar modus operandi   in the past, presently coming to
light , an
ingenious way to hide identities and ensure  secrecy to avoid   detection

If Goa is going to the dogs was vividly reiterated with the hard ground
evidence of that sordid reality today at Miramar beach this morning. A very
sad day for Goa.

That the stage managed drama CLEAN - O - THON organised by the Goa
Government in collaboration with Divyaj Foundation headed by wife of
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was a scam to say the
least that fooled no one is now not in doubt.

Late last night the Corporation of City of Panaji ( CCP) truck drivers were
made to scatter garbage all over the beach so that the VIPs could this
morning farcically clear it.

What happened at Miramar this morning only reflects to what cheap levels
those in power in Goa can stoop for publicity and pocketing money of the
State exchequer, which is empty anyways.

We can only pray for Goa as the political class has dared to cross all
ethical limits.

[Goanet] THE BASIC TENETS OF OUR CONSTITUTION ARE BEING ERODED

On 26th November we observed our Constitution Day which is also known as
National Law Day. We have a lot to reflect on what has been going wrong
with the very guiding principles of our Constitution being flouted with
impunity. On 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted our
Constitution which was drafted by a committee headed by Babasaheb Ambedkar
who played a pivotal role in its drafting.

Perhaps the founding fathers never visualized or anticipated that Money and
Muscle Power would one day rule the roost in our country’s political arena
with persons lacking morals and ethics assuming Power. So now there is a
need for urgent amendments to our Constitution to safeguard those
fundamentals while leaving no grey areas for manipulation and towards this
the Legislature, Executive and Judiciary must look within.

The loopholes that have crept in the Anti-Defection law must be plugged.
The Autonomy of the Reserve Bank, Election Commission, Enforcement
Directorate and the CBI must be restored. And more importantly the very
vital Independence of the Judiciary can never ever be compromised. Let us
all sincerely commit to protect and ensure that the doctrine of our
Constitution is strictly adhered to in letter and spirit with no room for
fudging or fraud.  Only then will there be something to rejoice and
celebrate on our Constitution Day.

caustic  remarks and personal attacks.Dignified and respectful utterances
on issues  and authorities.He has fought all his battles legally and  even
prrpetual confrontation with LG democratically. AN intelligent ,highly
qualified academically  ,simple and approachable is certainly worthy of
highest position.A single person standing against might of Govt and witch
hunt by Central agencies with courage,detremination.trust of voters and
belief in his programmes
His model is decried  as freebies to the deserving, where as the rich and
powerful get subsidies, relief from loans in crores.He does not stress on
manifestos though  expresses fulfillment in total and beyond
He challenges the electorate to discard  him  next failing on his
assurances. It is a welcome model of political campaigning without
breathing fire , hatred , revenge and disrespectful  slogans
His educational  reforms, medical camps, free electricity ,water, war
against pollution, safety of women plugging the loopholes of corrupt
practices have earned him dividends and massive mandate twice  in Delhi and
Punjab and perhaps bound to make inroads in Gujarat too.
His rise and ascendancy is sending tremors and shockwaves in those aspiring
for a monolithic hold.
For the first time in many years the campaigning is based on issues that
touch the poor and totally free from hatred ,revenge and debased personal
attacks ,an absolute poor substitute  of dignified   behaviour
People are seeing the  welcone change  of respectful approach  towards
winning.The way he takes on and answers questions from critical press is
praise worthy and admirable. He campaigns alone without galaxy of orators
even in local  body elections.May his tribe increase The change is hopeful

[Goanet] RIDDING GOA OF SEWAGE MUST BE A TOP PRIORITY

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had the rank audacity to falsely claim that
Goa was Open Defecation Free (ODF) from 31st August 2019. It is over three
long years down the road and the very grimy ground reality is there for all
to see with people urinating and even defecating out in the open
everywhere. In the hills, the fields and along the riverside across Goa we
see it all. Along Goa’s riverside it all gets released in the waters where
we catch fish from. With no sewage line in place, many are releasing their
raw sewage through pipes into the public drains and the fields. It is an
unacceptable situation and the onus is on the government to ensure that it
is mandatory for every house to have a septic tank. This is required to
ensure that a health menace is avoided.



What a shame while the entire pollution of our Rivers, Lakes and Water
bodies with sewage flowing from the cities and villages is a matter of
concern. Even in the capital City of Panaji, the Rua de Ourem creek and the
Santa Inez Creek is an absolute eyesore and says it all.



Our Politicians living in glass houses should humbly  realise the plight of
our common man facing and enduring the dilemma of those malafidely ignoring

first free ourselves from the stench of rampant corruption and lack of
proper governance that our State is besieged with.
