[Hampshire] Embedded Java on the Raspberry Pi - Oracle running on-line training course

2013-10-21 Thread Jerry Webb
Hi,

Oracle are considering running an on-line course for teaching how to use
embedded Java on the Raspberry Pi and are gauging whether the public
take-up would justify the effort involved. Would you be interested? If
so, there’s a Survey Monkey survey from them running (see below) as a poll
that you should respond to?

Cheers,

Jerry

Hi All,

I would like to further stress on top of Martijn's mail. Guys please take
the survey if you are interested in it, this sounds like a very good
opportunity to go embedded on Pi using Java. I've just done the survey and
hope for more to join. This is exciting stuff...

Hi all,

Would be cool if everyone can take a couple of minutes to reply on the
survey below so that a decent free online course can be created for hacking
Java on the Pi!

We are currently planning a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) which would
be offered for free and would be designed to help people learn about Java
in embedded applications, specifically using the Raspberry Pi.

To really make the course useful will involve connecting things to the Pi
and then writing code to become part of the Internet of Things. We have
ideas about what we can do for this, but would like to understand what
level of interest there is and what kind of cost (for equipment) is
acceptable.

To do this we've put together a short survey that you can find here:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MLZCWJT

We would really appreciate it if you could forward this to your JUG
membership. The more we know about what people want, the more we will be
able to ensure we deliver the appropriate content.

Thanks in advance,

Simon.

Depends who is choosing, mine is still perl though node.js is interesting
me recently.

I thought python is the language of choice for the raspberry pi.
