Daniel, have you ever tried mw-dx with SSB?
For example on 1539 and 1548 using LSB would
eliminate the whistle from upper frequency.
SSB also in many cases gives more readable audio.
Also when scanning the band it shows you a weaker
station carrier, which you might not notice on AM.
Personally I always use SSB when DXing.
Of course using SSB depends on the quality of the receiver's SSB unit.
