ctfmon = office - i kill mine w/o issue
nvcpldaemon = nvidia fluff - i kill mine w/o issue
KernelFaultCheck = i'd google that diagnostic but not sure if you need
rest of it is the acronis shit which you may or may not need... I'd
kill it unless you wanted automated backups or w/e

NONE of those are required for XP to boot however.

[H] What MUST run at XP start-up?

2009-05-24 Thread Veech
I'm looking at what I run in XP at start-up in order to reduce boot time. I
found a great tool called C Cleaner. I've used it on 2 machines so far and
it has really helped. The only things I now have running at start-up on my
main box are:

ctfmon.exe
NvCplDaemon
KernelFaultCheck
TrueImageMonitor.exe
AcronisTimouterMonitor
Acronis Scheduler2 Service

Are all of these necessary or can I disable any of them from running on
startup?

thnaks..

[H] Thermal Spec

2009-05-24 Thread Winterlight
My 3.06 Xeons have Thermal Spec of 73C. I don't want to exceed that
when overclocking...right?

How do you know what your Motherboard temp should be? There is no
reference to it in my ASUS manual. MBM shows this as the case temp,
but my actual case, measured by a wired probe and suspended in the
case, is half of what my MBM case temp is, which they take off the
motherboard. Thanks.

Composite: up to 100' without any real loss, 200 for more

Dvi is trickier, after about 35 feet loss is significant

Hdmi about 40 - beyond that you are better off using hdmi to ethernet links
(see monoprice).

I would like to show my computer videos on my TV.
How long a video cable can I use?
The TV is in another room.

All depends on how you are sending the signal - coax, svideo, component,
composite, ethernet, etc.
