Jean-Gabriel,

Pourrais-tu jeter un œil au mail ci-dessous et au fichier ci-joint. Il
me semble que nous avons la plupart des disques proposés. Mais
peut-être y en a-t-il 1 ou 2 plus rares que nous n’avons pas ?

i...@jewishlibraries.org

I have a collection of old vinyl phonograph records of Jewish music,
which I inherited from my parents.  Some are from the 1970's and
1960's.  Some may be from the 1950's and 1940's.  An inventory of
these phonograph records is attached.

I would like to donate the entire collection to a Jewish
library, museum, or organization that collects such phonograph
records.  I will pay all shipping costs.  In return, I ask only for a
written acknowledgement of the receipt of the donation for income tax
purposes.

Please forward the inventory to your member libraries and any
Jewish museum or organization that might be interested.

Sincerely yours,

Louis Feldman

2019-02-25 Thread Heidi Rabinowitz via Hasafran
The Jewish Learning Matters website is seeking articles by librarians,
recommending books for kids on various Jewish values. I wrote an article for
them called "Mindful Bunnies and Thankful Elephants Inspire Gratitude" which
you can read here:
https://www.jewishlearningmatters.com/BD-Mindful-Bunnies-Thankful-Elephants-Inspire-Gratitude-3313.aspx.
A $100 honorarium is offered for accepted articles! Here is the call for
papers with all the details:
https://www.jewishlearningmatters.com/BD-Call-for-Entries-Librarian-Approved-Kid-Tested-Books-Blog-Series-3300.aspx.

I hope you will consider sharing your expertise. This is a great opportunity
for AJL librarians to share our knowledge with Jewish educators!

[ha-Safran] AJL Jewish Fiction Award Committee is Seeking Two New Members

2019-02-25 Thread Yermiyahu Ahron Taub via Hasafran
Dear Colleagues,

The AJL Jewish Fiction Award Committee is seeking two new members. This is
an exciting opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant field of
contemporary Jewish fiction; to connect with and learn from a group of wise
and committed colleagues; and to honor outstanding writers. We are looking
for avid readers who:

Enjoy reading literary fiction

Feel comfortable expressing an opinion about what they’ve read beyond “I
liked it” or “I didn’t like it.”

Are willing to commit the time to read 7-10 books in a 12-month period.

Past or current involvement in a book discussion group would be a plus.

I have completed my term as Chairperson of the Committee. As Outgoing
Chair, I will be handling all matters related to the 2019 Award. Rosalind
Reisner will be the Incoming Chairperson and will be handling the 2019
publications and the 2020 Award. Please write to Roz directly off-list if
you are interested in serving on the Committee. Roz's e-mail address is roz
at the reisners dot net.

It has been an absolute joy to helm this committee and to serve with such
distinguished, committed colleagues. Thanks so much!

Regards,
Ahron

Re: [ha-Safran] New haggadah for families with young kids

2019-02-25 Thread Ann Abrams via Hasafran
Thanks so much, Claire!

If other safranim have recommendations of haggadot, particularly those
published in the last five years, I would be appreciative if you'd let me
(and maybe all of hasafran?) know, as I'm curating a recommended list for
my congregation.

BTW, I recently heard a term that maybe some of us would enjoy using:
Book Concierge.

Best,

Ann
