RE: [hlds] HLDS_proc

2004-10-07 Thread Napier, Kevin
If I can get a hold of rob I'll ask him to consider releasing the source
since I'm fairly certain he's lost all interest in developing for stuff for
the the hl\source platform.

It manages HLDS processes. It can also allow customers and staff to
start/stop servers on their own through a web-based interface. It can also
run HLDS as a Windows service instead of regular application so they start
up automatically when Windows starts up.

If it was developed on a regular basis I would probably still be using
it. Now I use FireDaemon, but may try ServerDoc soon as well since it
closes HLDS error message windows that are not part of windows
debugging/error reporting (FireDaemon does not yet do this).

Rob normally puts time bombs in his beta software, which they will

  quit

working after some time. I know there was some in beta 2, but not
sure

  if

   he

   put one in beta 3.

I simply reverted back to ServerDoc for now.

That would be cool.

I found it a shame after I donated to the project (a mere $30 or so) he
apparently disappeared. Hopefully he'll either release the source or make
some updates.

I liked hlds_proc simply because it always restarted the server, even after
one of my die hard crashes that caused a nice popup error, and serverdoc
would never restart the server after that.

Says that on startup for me too, but when I change the map it seems to
go away. Haven't had any players connect to generate more log messages
though, so we'll see.

I'm guessing it's not the normal hlds server files, but a newer one?

Just make a new directory off your root (like c:\srcds, for instance)
and throw a copy of hldsupdatetool.exe in there. Run it like you
normally would:

C:\srcds\hldsupdatetool.exe -command update -game Counter-Strike
Source -dir .

And that should do it for ya. Make sure you're only one directory off
your root though, otherwise you'll run into problems (at least that's
been my experience).

Get the hldsupdatetool.

Then do hldsupdatetool -command update -dir . -username yourusername
-password yourpassword -game Counter-Strike Source

This is the same method as the beta server. It converts the beta to
full version.

[hlds] Way to lock windows HLDS fps?

2004-10-07 Thread chrispwns

[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
I want to lock my server's fps at 120.
I was wondering if there's any commands to do so?
Am I going to have to get Ping booster? I really don't want to ;(

I currently use a flash running, but my customers change the sys ticrate and sometimes
their servers are going at 1000fps.
Thanks in advance.
