Re: [hlds_linux] VAC performance issues. (new thread, sorry about the earlier mistakes)

2009-06-17 Thread Thomas Hjorth
yeah, that is kinda my plan, but I would like it to only apply for the
VAC servers and not the master servers, since they will use the external
IP and show that on the browserliste instead just a single IP.

Does Valve have an official list of VAC, auth, master and whatever
servers similar to their listing of content servers?

Given that amount of servers behind a single IP,
I would at least say it's not unreasonable to assume
that the VAC servers might be throtteling your requests.
And instead of randomly assigning IPs you could maybe
 use 1 IP per 100 servers ;)

And a lot is what number? From what I've seen no problem with less 5
servers. Also problem could be throttling as you said, but just because
you are in spammy or botnet neighborhood, just my thoughts.

answer from Valve, NO.

 Hi for all.

Question for Valve - you plan will relase America's Army 3 dedicated server
 with hldsupdatetool?
I think it good idea, will download dedicated server files in advance.

 Andrey.

Most likely it will be there a few days after game release, windows
version is already there in the tools section.

 Hey Alfred,

Is this like the Half-Life 1 Engine beta hlds0319 update? Meaning, it
was a published as a beta Half-Life 1 Engine update though released as
a CS 1.6 update after several weeks? The reason I ask is we run a few
TFC servers still and the hlds0319 tested fine for us though we missed
out on the release because it was title a CS 1.6 release, lol.

Anyways... figured I'd ask. Should we run the update cs0616 being it
would more then likely impact the Win32 Server Engine again?

 Thx
