Call of Duty: Black Ops was an epic fail. Gamehost that doesn't care, they
release map-packs instead of patching the actual game and so on.

 At least valve cares.
Look at Call of Duty, look at Battefiled. Every year a new game, 1-2
updates and the game is left alone, exclusiv servers, no linux files and
 so on.

If you complain think how worse things could be ;)

No, honestly i don't understand this - gravity will pull you back

I've noticed several of our maps have broken due to the fact that
the trigger_push is not acting the way it used to. I have done tests with
hammer and shown that when a trigger push is pushing you at an upward angle
it will push at the speed of push and then slow you down once you exit the
 trigger.

Any ideas what might be causing this or if this is a permanent change?

We will release an optional update this afternoon.

It will fix the crash bug caused by the Righteous Bison.

It will also throttle the diagnostic spew about invalid positions / angles.
We'll look at the specific types of entities causing the check to trigger and
fix them to avoid it. The spew is alerting us to entities with suspicious
positions / orientations, and helped us identify the crash.

I don't think you can have a stable server without changing the map every few
hours, this because the engine keeps the current/map time into a float variable
and after a while adding very small values to it won't do nothing...

We will release an optional update this afternoon.

It will fix the crash bug caused by the Righteous Bison.

It will also throttle the diagnostic spew about invalid positions / angles.
We'll look at the specific types of entities causing the check to trigger
and fix them to avoid it. The spew is alerting us to entities with
suspicious positions / orientations, and helped us identify the crash.

[hlds_linux] Hammer: Screens in TF2

2011-08-01 Thread James Botting

Just a question, does anyone know what happened to the screen entity in
TF2?
It seems that TF2 is the only source game that dosen't support dynamic
screens in the map. Is this true or is it something my mapper is doing
wrong?

Many thanks

[hlds_linux] 25 people in a 24 slot server?

I have +maxplayers set to 24, and -replay flag turned on, but people
are still able to connect (via console) to a 25th slot, making the

Is there... somewhere else I'm supposed to define 24 players or what

Re: [hlds_linux] Upcoming Red Orchestra 2 Beta and Ranked Server Program

2011-08-01 Thread John Gibson
I apologize for taking so long, but I finally got around to sending out
responses to the people that messaged me regarding the RO2 beta and Ranked
Server program. Looking back I should have made them two different messages,
because it was a little tricky to tell who was interested in hosting a
server for the beta, and who was a GSP interested in being involved with the
ranked server program.

So just to be clear, if you are just interested in hosting a server for the
beta and you got an e-mail from me requesting you fill out an NDA, please
ignore that NDA part :) You won't need to sign an NDA to host a server for
the beta. That was mainly meant for GSP companies.

If I missed anyone that was interested in hosting a server for the beta, or
a GSP, please e-mail with either the subject RO2 Beta Server if you are
just interested in hosting a server or GSP interested in the RSP and RO2
beta if you are GSP. That way I can keep all these e-mails straight :)

Well if you have your server registered then it should be linked to a

 I hope so.

Although the storm of mails have halted a bit.
I still see crashes which actually stop my server from restarting. This was
 still ongoing by valve right?

Re: [hlds_linux] 25 people in a 24 slot server?

2011-08-01 Thread ics
This is exactly the reason why i do not run replays on servers. No
matter to what i set sv_visiblemaxplayers, players are still able to
connect to it. Only difference is that they get booted due to last slot
being reserved for admins only but the server browser in-game shows
23/24 when there is replay on the server. Things are fine without the
replay.

I have +maxplayers set to 24, and -replay flag turned on, but people
are still able to connect (via console) to a 25th slot, making the
server 13 vs 12 with a replay bot.

Is there... somewhere else I'm supposed to define 24 players or what
is happening here?
