I see the same errors with FreeBSD 7.1-PRERELEASE and FreeBSD 7.0 ...I'll
hope that they will fix this soon.

Herk.

Yep, map only appears to change in the query information after a client
connects.

Additionally, the rules information doesn't appear to be reflected
real-time either. I had previously assumed rules information was now
resynced on map change, but on further testing that doesn't even seem to
be proper.

This is all presumably because they have the steamclient library pumping
out the server queries now, instead of the engine doing it like it used
to. I assume they don't sync changes immediately to the steamclient
library.

Pretty major undocumented changed. :/

Steam support said, we have a problem but i think valve has a problem
and not only one with the new protocol update.

Here you can see one of the "new features" from hl update.

I have upgraded the server again. But still see these crashes. I jumped
some upgrades last time. ie: some installed ports.

I am currently running FreeBSD 6.4 w linux_base-fc-4_13.

One server is actually not crashing. Or has not at least since 01:30.
The other 3 are crashing.

I also get this:
MasterRequestRestart
Your server needs to be restarted in order to receive the latest update.
L 10/26/2008 - 18:08:04: Your server needs to be restarted in order to
receive the latest update.

But its already updated:
$ rm ~/.steam/ClientRegistry.blob
$ rm InstallRecord.blob
$ ./steam -command update -game cstrike -dir . -verify_all
Checking bootstrapper version ...
Getting version 34 of Steam HLDS Update Tool
Downloading. . . . . . . . . . .Steam Linux Client updated, please retry
the command
$ ./steam -command update -game cstrike -dir . -verify_all
Checking bootstrapper version ...
Updating Installation
No installation record found at .
No installation record found at .
No installation record found at .
Checking/Installing 'Counter-Strike Base Content' version 25

Checking/Installing 'Linux Server Engine' version 40

Checking/Installing 'Half-Life Base Content' version 12

HLDS installation up to date
$

I am linking all the binaries and certain directories to save space and
only have to have one directory updated per server. I have checked all
links and cant find anything that can produce that error.

A nice feature would be the server to spit out what files that needs to be
updated. Maybe just print the first one that needs to be updated.

I don't see these issues, where does it crash? "debug.mpsafenet=0"
might need to be added.

I can change my name in the console, it's just in the options menu you're
not able to modify it, and you should be able to.

In the options menu of DoD and TFC, there is still the locking to Steam
Community name.

Re: [hlds_linux] Half-Life 1 Engine Update Released (fwd)

2008-10-25 Thread kama

Hi!

The server crashes under FreeBSD 6.x while using SMP. I have not tried any
other version of FreeBSD. Without SMP they dont crash, at least not as
often. The crashes occur on a empty server and could be within a couple of
minutes and sometimes it works for over 30 mins, but eventually they will
crash.

One other issue is that the servers coredumps when exiting them. It does
not crash on a vanilla install. So I dont know if it is a metamod issue or
if it is a issue with the server itself when it comes on handling the
plugin.
