Using -dir. it should separate the directories.
The only problem I can think of is if you'd like to run an orangebox mod
alongside a tf2/dods install. They use different orangeboxes and so would
conflict ( crash).

There is alot of theories on the web. I have a file named hlds and within
this file i have used the tag -dir . to download the files for l4d and
l4d2
and so on.
I could of swore that one page i looked at said to download the server
files
in different dirs.
Also, is there a chance that u can make a hard copy of the files and use
them to rebuild the servers in case of a hd crash or a os upgrade?
While the hlds download is very good-it can be time consuming.
