Re: [hlds_linux] Server Crashing / Freezing - "DataTable warning" console floods

2012-10-29 Thread Marco Padovan
In certain cases it reaches very high levels and make your server
hang/freeze.

This extension cures it:

http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?p=1817962

but hope one day even vanilla servers without sourcemod can be "cured"
with an official fix ;)

Re: [hlds_linux] Server Crashing / Freezing - "DataTable warning" console floods

2012-10-29 Thread Rudy Bleeker
I can confirm this on a vanilla 'eventmix' halloweenserver running on
Ubuntu server 10.04 LTS, and also some variations on the error:

DataTable warning: (class prop_dynamic): Out-of-range value
(-.x) in SendPropFloat 'm_vNormal', clamping.
DataTable warning: prop_dynamic: Out-of-range value (.x) in
SendPropFloat 'm_vNormal', clamping.

I've noticed that the first with "(class prop_dynamic)" always has a
negative value, the second slightly different error always has a
positive value. Hopefully this means anything to anyone at Valve.

It doesn't seem to affect my server in any noticable way though, so
for now I'm just treating it as console spam that I can ignore. It's
logged in my console.log though if anyone at Valve wants to see it.

Has anyone been having problems with their Linux tf2 server crashing on a
map change. It seems to happen once every 1 to 2 days for me. The console
says this:

L 06/07/2011 - 23:11:48: "tv_password" = ""

solving this problem Tue Jun 7 23:12:32 EDT 2011: Server restart in 3

I'm going to enable "-debug" tomorrow morning (when server is empty) to
hopefully catch more info on this... No DMP files have been created.

Re: [hlds_linux] server crashing.. is there a restart script for windows

2010-10-21 Thread edman747
I have a Windows Powershell v2 script that pings HLDS every 5-30 seconds
then send an info query. The script will optionally restart HLDS on the last
map when it crashes or freezes. And log some info about what map was
running, etc.

used serverdoc for a while it also works.

You could use a simple batch file, such as this one from SRCDS.COM, to
launch and re-launch your server when necessary.

"
@echo off
cls
echo Protecting srcds from crashes...
echo If you want to close srcds and this script, close the srcds window and

start /wait srcds.exe -console -game cstrike +map de_dust +maxplayers 16

I am running a css server with sm-hosties and mani mod. For some reason this

the command line to restart this server?
Maybe something is bugged but I have installed sdkhook and updated the

Any help would be appreciated

on a side note: some lr commands will "timeout" clients on my linux version
but I have not tested them fully.

Re: [hlds_linux] Server Crashing after 30.09 Source Engine Update

If you run mani, you need the new gametypes.txt
http://www.mani-admin-plugin.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=90&Itemid=73
and of course update to the latest sourcemod snapshot.

yes, that works
we had only one thing in common: zBlock addon.
without zBlock the crash doesn't happen.

You could try a -verify_all in steam to make sure you've got the newest
files and that they are fully there.

Map change crash? Hmm...as said before try updating the server, might help.
Also make sure the map is actually there. :)

Other than that...strange problem.

RE: [hlds_linux] Server crashing on linux

2006-10-06 Thread Juston Griggs
I have Half Life 2 DS set up on my linux server and it runs fine if I use
this command:

./srcds_run -debug -console -game hl2mp -port 27015 +ip 192.168.1.85 +map
dm_lockdown +maxplayers 5

But if I try to start the server with another map, say like this:

./srcds_run -debug -console -game hl2mp -port 27015 +ip 192.168.1.85 +map
dm_c17 +maxplayers 5

I get this error...

./srcds_run: line 426: 17973 Segmentation fault (core dumped) $HL_CMD
cat: hlds.17959.pid: No such file or directory
email debug.log to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Fri Oct 6 03:17:10 EDT 2006: Server restart in 10 seconds
Fri Oct 6 03:17:12 EDT 2006: Server Quit

Also, when its running, and I go to the admin panel & click on "change map"
the server crashes. How can I fix these issues?

Thanks.

I thought logmod was obsolete since its functionality was available
natively by the engine after about 1.1.1.0 release. Unless they've
added some new features, maybe it's no longer supported?

What features of logmod are you using?

Crashed server logs are useless. Why? Your OS optimizes disk access by
buffering data in memory before writing it to disk. This usually happens in
4kbyte blocks (but it is possible to have a different buffer size).
You might be thinking: 'yeah, so what has this to do with my crash logs?'
Well, a LOT. The optimization actually happens in the memory of the program
writing to disk. If this program crashes, the remaining data in the buffer
is never flushed to disk. For HL this means that the log of the crash will
die with the server. And that's why you are seeing 4096 byte logs.

My bet is that the crash happens when the server finishes loading and starts
running the map. If you really want a log, use output redirection. Run your
server like:
./hlds_run -game cstrike myoutput.txt &

That will create the file myoutput.txt with all output that was written to
the console. Be warned though, this file can, and will grow extremely large
after some time!
