Hi, yes, it does work without a driver. I've been using mine for three  
years now. Earlier this year the scroll wheel became loose and they  
sent me a replacement FOC, so support seems good.

Can anyone tell me whether McCallys IceMouse works on the G4 with 
10.3.9, and whether it needs a driver? I am confused about a couple 
comments on their site and so am now looking for someone with real 
world experience in the matter.

NO, it should work out of the box, correctly. OS X has long supported  
two-button scroll mice without any additional drivers.
