Re: [efloraofindia:205248] Unknown plant forID

2014-11-04 Thread Prabhu kumar Km
Actually it is a rare collection.
There is no colour photographs available for this species for comparison.
I have collected this specimen in July, that means it will be take 4 month
for identification.
I have identified the specimens based on its aroma and whorled nature of
leaves directly gone to Lamiaceae.
But unfortunately last minutes only I have checked its aroma.
It is a endemic species of South India in rocky areas in evergreen forests
Its Conservation status in Vulnerable.
No detailed studies conducted so far except Taxonomy.

Blue and yellow forsythia, Blue and yellow pea tree...(FORSYTHIA because of

I went back to searching my specimen: pea like flowers on a shrub or a

found Caragana ... wiki has a page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caragana#mediaviewer/File:Caragana_distribution.svg

and my choices boil down to Caragana aurantiaca or Caragana pygmaea

I have not seen any seed pods on the specimen I have seen or photographed
in September this year... PLant has that drooping habit that SIVA has shown
above.

[efloraofindia:205210] Thanks, Gurcharan Singh ji for the Nymphaeaceae and Nelumbonaceae Fortnight

2014-11-04 Thread J.M. Garg
Dear members,
It was a lovely Nymphaeaceae and Nelumbonaceae fortnight all because of
wonderful coordination by Singh ji despite busy schedule. He resolved many
mysteries of complicated Nymphaea species during this fortnight &
identifications looked quite easy (though they were not). Hardly any
species went unided. Cultivated plants has always been his forte.
Along with this he was also the Star of Menispermaceae, Berberidaceae,
Nymphaeaceae and Nelumbonaceae Fortnight with max. number of posts
(despite hardly posting half of his collections due to busy schedule).
Wonderful work, Singh ji.

[efloraofindia:205194] Re: All time Best Flora photographer on efloraofindia

2014-11-04 Thread Aarti S. Khale
This is the most difficult thing to dochoose one.
There are so many that I admirethe list is endless.
Dinesh Ji, Prashant Ji, Garg Ji, Gurcharan Ji, Vijayasankar Ji, Rawat Ji,
Satish Ji, Pankaj Ji, Nidhan Ji, Neil Ji, Balkar Ji, Ritesh Ji.
Really very difficult to choose one of them.

[efloraofindia:205183] Re: All time Best Flora photographer on efloraofindia

2014-11-04 Thread Vijayasankar
I have loved and appreciated several pictures posted by Pankaj, Prashant
ji, Dinesh ji, Satish ji, Gurcharan ji, Garg ji, Nidhan ji, Balkar ji, Neil
ji, Surajit ji, Aarti ji, Smita ji, Anurag ji, and many others. Of course
everyone has a unique talent that need to be appreciated.

But if I have to select one 'all time best photographer' who consistently
showed us beautiful quality pictures, it would be Dinesh ji. To me, his
pictures are always unique, cool and aesthetically pleasing. He has the
talent to add beauty, through his lenses, even to the not-so-attractive
weed flowers, leave alone the naturally beautiful flowers. Great work,
Dinesh ji!

2014-11-04 Thread D.S Rawat
Congratulation Prashant Ji.
It was a nice journey of GHNP for ourselves too; thanks for all uploads.
Rewarding for me to understand the flora of GHNP. Though I have the
document 'Flora of Great Himalayan National Park' by S.K. Singh and
G.S.Rawat but seeing plants (in beautiful photographs) is far more
interesting than reading in black and white.
Thanks for this great show which is still continues..
