ok. Perhaps this should be a question for the cloud sig?

Cool.

Great!

fedimg is the thing that uploads the official cloud images, so if it
does gp3, then the fedora images are gp3. :)

Sounds great! Thanks for finding all this out.

Meeting Agenda Item: Introduction Leon

2023-04-03 Thread Leon Khan
Dear Fedora Infrastructure team,

My name is Leon (*IRC handle : leonkhan, FAS user name leon82 *), and I am
writing to introduce myself and express my interest in contributing to the
Fedora Infrastructure team.

I have a few years of experience as an M365 application support specialist.
One of my areas of expertise is effective communication with people.
Besides that, I am a hobbyist Fedora user, and I always find it very
interesting how things work in a Linux environment. I am keen to dedicate
myself to learning Linux system administration skills.

I have my own testing machine and will be happy to offer at least 20 hours
per week of my time to contribute to the Fedora Infrastructure team.
However, as a new contributor, I am not sure about the first few steps that
I need to take to get started. Therefore, I would like to politely ask if
any group member could guide me on the first few steps of open-source
contribution in the Fedora Infrastructure team.

I am eager to contribute to the community and will try my best to make
meaningful contributions to the Fedora Infrastructure team. I look forward
to hearing from you!

Thanks

Leon

The volume types are passed on command line.. but if not, then it is read from the config... that I modified. OMG I
screwed that! And actually told fedimg to generate standard, gp2 **and** gp3!

I reverted this and will wait till this get approved by FESCO and let change
owner to do that. Sorry.

But that does not affect what type we use in AWS for data volumes.

I changed all Copr volumes to gp3 already. After the Fedora release and after the freeze I will migrate all remaining
volumes.

Re: AWS gp2 -> gp3

2023-04-03 Thread David Duncan
Awesome news. We will add all of the flags once they are approved. There are
three that we are focused on in the cloud instances:
1) gp2 volumes by default -> gp3 volumes by default
2) IMDSv1 fallback -> IMDSv2 required.
3) classic bios boot -> uefi-preferred boot.

While you're making the modifications on COPR, I suggest that you look at all
of these in sequence.

Great!

Our current docs start at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Infrastructure/GettingStarted

But there's some folks working on a revamp/re-write. That should get you
going though. You can join us on IRC/Matrix for our standups and
meetings!

Again, welcome.
