important information. Muslims should now refrain from using the term
"Mosque". I was flipping through this book the other day
called:"THE COMPLETE IDIOT'S GUIDE TO UNDERSTANDING ISLAM"
(They call themselves idiots) and it is filled with fun facts.
One of them concerns the word Mosque."We will be totally wrong to
assume that the word "Mosque" is the English translation of the word
"Masjid". I am sure none of us ever wondered how this
term came into being when it really had little in common with how it
sounded compared to 'Masjid'. (We were very young when we were
taught this English word. Our minds then were not critical nor
analytical, so we didn't dare to ask or challenge our teachers. Right?)
Anyway this book pointed out that the term 'mosque' is
derived from theSpanish word for "mosquito." It was termed as such
because during theCrusades, King Ferdinand said they were going to go and
swat the Muslimslike mosquitoes". (Where else can they find
Muslims in large number to be swatted if not in a Masjid?). So, they
cheekily termed "Masjid" as "Mosque".So, my dear Muslim brothers and
sisters, refrain from using this word, which isobviously a disgusting slap
in the face to the Ummah. Let us Educate our brothersand sisters to
the history and etymology of this word. And let us replace it with the
word, which is MEANT to be used: Masjid! The Place of Prostration!!
Not Mosque: the place to be swatted! Was Salamualaykum Warahmatullahi

When I received this story
from the respected brother, I immediately shared three articles with
him (see below) that completely refutes the myth that Mosque comes
from Mosquito. I awaited his response hoping to receive confirmation from
him that he had forwarded my three (3) articles to those who received
his article. Three days expired and not a word from him so I sent him
another email enquiring if he had received my email. Again no response was
forthcoming. And to my dismay, I received today from another source who
unwittingly forwarded his advice, to almost fourteen (14)
yahoogroups. So this is the reason why you are now reading my communique.

This Mosque/Mosquito story is a
misconception which has been circulating for the past 3-4 years mostly
by well-meaning Muslims and posted by Islamic websites. In
shaa'Allaah after reading the following three (3) articles below, please
remember not to forward this untruth should you ever receive it. If
you happen to receive the same, then share the three (3)
articles with the senders. It just reflects badly on our
understanding of our own Islamic terminology which may
open Muslims to ridicule. It's baffling why the author
Yahiya A. Emerick would include this misconception in his book
The Complete Idiots Guide to Understanding Islam. A spoof ...
a gimmick - at the expense of Islam - surely not? I'd like him to be given
the benefit of the doubt that he was sincerely unaware when he quoted it in
his book. If so, then it begs the question, who are the
originators of this misconception? Bears giving this some thought, don't
you think? In shaa'Allaah, through our joint efforts, this ridiculous
misconception will be made known to everyone and eventually find
itself classified in the www.truthorfiction.com and www.urbanlegends.com websites under the category: fiction/hoax! And

I was flipping through this
book the other day called The Complete Idiot's Guide to Understanding Islam
and it is filled with interesting facts. Some stuff I didn't even know. One of
them concerns the term mosque. According to the author of this book the
English term mosque is derived from the Spanish word for mosquito and came
into use during the Christian invasion of Muslim Spain in the 15th century.
The forces of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella boasted they would swat out
Muslim prayer houses like mosquitoes.
Well, the "Complete Idiot" in the title is the writer,
not the reader. How disappointing that such so-called etymology could make
it into print. First, the Spanish for mosquito is
mosquito. It means "little fly", mosca being "fly" and
-ito being a diminutive suffix.
Mosque first came to English in the late
14th or early 15th century from French mosquée, and

Moslems and non-Moslems alike in Ghana agree on one
thing: the organization of the annual Hajj pilgrimage
to Mecca is porous. Our lead story yesterday on the
subject, not surprisingly, attracted much public
interest. 

What many people do not know however is that it is not
a new development. For as far back as living memory
would stretch, Ghanaian pilgrims have always
complained about the hardships that their agents and
the Hajj Board have been putting them through. 

We need not go over those here. Now the question is:
What can we do to improve things? 

We have a few suggestions. 

These include the following. 

1. A permanent Hajj Company organised in line with
Ghana's Companies Code. 

2. A Board of Directors to perform supervisory
functions and a Chief Executive or Secretary General
to run the company. 

3. Permanent secretariat with the appropriate
secretarial, operational, accounting, research and
administrative staff. 

4. Seed capital to be provided by the government and
other relevant stakeholders 

5. Organization to be divided into two sectors:
Northern and Southern. The northern sector can be
based in Tamale, which has an airport with a long
enough runway to accommodate big planes. 

6. Strict accounting and auditing conventions to be
adhered to. 

In short, we must be more professional. The Ad hoc
approach has not worked and so must be discarded. It
is not an envious record for a country to have as
being responsible for 30% of the problems experienced
by the Saudi authorities before, during and after the
Hajj. 

Ghana has developed that reputation. 

There is no time to waste. 

Vice President Aliu Mahama has already given the
assurance that, there would now be a permanent body to
handle Hajj affairs. Now's the time.

A few months ago, as I was flipping
through the many channels late one night, a show entitled “On the Wings of
Eagles” caught my attention. This show, which was really nothing more
than a “paid advertisement” from a coalition of Born Again
Christian and Jewish Zionists, was being shown over and over again on many
different channels. They tried to present this as a “sort of
documentary” of a mission of mercy.

As I watched this show, it began to sink
in what their mission was. They were collecting money ($250 to bring ONE Jew
from the former USSR to Israel) to help “airlift Jews” from the former USSR “home” to Israel. They kept showing footage of new Russian immigrants
landing at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport and being greeted as “New Israeli Citizens”
coming home. The narrator of the program made it seem that these
“Jews” (I use this term with a great amount of reservation since it
is widely known that more than 50% of these so-called Jews are not Jews at all)
were being delivered from Pharaohs grip all over again!

As I watched I was bombarded by calls to
call the 800 number and make a donation of $250 for every Jew that I want to
bring “home” to Israel and fulfill God’s will. The narrator
kept on emphasizing that this is one way of pleasing God and that he would
bestow MANY blessing on those that helped with this worthy cause…After
about 30 minutes, I decided to call the 800 number and have some
“fun”…

Operator: God bless you! How would you like your
name to appear on the certificate of blessings?

Me: Thank you! But before we get into that, I want to get some
information if that is OK with you?

Operator: What can I help you with?

Me: Well as a “Christian” I want to thank you for
all you are doing. God bless all those that seek to help others. I think that
what you are doing is a worthy cause…

Operator: GREAT! How many Jews will you be helping
to bring “home”

Me: Wait a minute not so fast! Let me finish…

Operator: OK sir, but we are very busy assisting
others to achieve their blessings from God…

Me: Anyway, as much as I find your cause a worthy one AND
being a “Christian” myself, I want to know if my money could be
used to bring “HOME” Christians to Palestine, after all,
Christianity’s origins are in Palestine AND there are hundreds of
thousands of Palestinian Christians who are refugees because they were
ethnically cleansed from their homes by the Zionists… Would it not be
also a source of blessing AND a way to please God to alleviate their suffering
and bring them home? What do you say?

speaking to a supervisor)…I am back, sir at this time, this mission of
mercy is limited to Jews only…

people are calling from all over the country…

WASHINGTON , February 11 (IslamOnline.net & News
Agencies)  A Christian Radio station cancelled an
advertisement on an event promoting dialogue with
Muslims at the university of South Flordia , according
to press reports Friday, February 11. 

The ad was highlighting an event promoting dialogue,
to be held Saturday, February 12, between Christians
and Muslims at the US University. 

This is exactly why we need to be doing programs like
this,' said Ahmed Bedier, director of the Central
Florida office of the Council on American-Islamic
Relations (CAIR). 

There's a lot of misinformation about Islam, and
relations are strained. Not only here, but all around
the world, he was quoted by Miami Herald as saying. 

Christopher Gould, general manager at WTBN-AM, claimed
the 30-second spot didn't serve its listeners,
alleging the group recruits people to Islam. 

Gould further added that his decision is in keeping
with the company's philosophy to serve evangelical
Christians. 

If the Church (of Jesus Christ) of Latter-day Saints
or (Jehovah's) Witnesses wanted to run a spot
promoting their religion, we'd do the same thing, he
said. 

We're here to serve evangelical Christians. 

No Conversions 

Bedier, however, said his groups intent was not to
convert people, but to encourage dialogue, protect
civil liberties and promote mutual understanding. 

Islam exhorts us to engage in dialogue with others
and to build good relations with our neighbors, said
Bedier said in a press release before the launch of
the dialogue. 

The Tampa interfaith community is fortunate to have
leaders who seek dialogue and preach tolerance. 

The event, entitled Biblical and Quranic
Perspectives, invited Muslim and Christian scholars
including Reverend Dr. Duncan Ferguson, Director of
the Center for Spiritual Life at Eckerd College, and
Dr. Jamal Badawi, professor at St. Marys University
in Canada. 

The Tampa Bay-area station will refund the Muslim
organizations $300, Gould said. 

The contract had been signed by a sales manager when
the promotions department reviewed the ad. 

Gould claimed he checked out the councils (CAIRs)
Web site and concluded the group is clearly
interested in recruiting people to Islam, a charge
denied by the organization, the biggest Muslim civil
liberties group in North America. 

The language was very gentle, and its under the
guise of tolerance and discussion,' he said. 

But the fact is, they want to grow their
organization. 

That is not the group's intent, Bedier charged. 

Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam,
encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower
American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote
justice and mutual understanding, according to its Web
site. 

The organization has 31 offices and chapters
nationwide and in Canada . 

Misunderstanding 

A narrator opens the spot with: Our world today is
torn apart by mistrust and misunderstanding. We have a
choice: live in ignorance of each other or work to
create harmony and tolerance. 

Listeners are then invited to a historic dialogue'
between Christians and Muslims who will share their
perspectives on Jesus. 

The event is intended to show that the two religions
have more in common than differences, particularly
among conservative worshippers, Bedier said. 

We're very close when it comes to social issues. We
don't drink, we're against abortion and we're
family-oriented. But we have to have dialogue to know
this about each other. 

Bedier also said Islam is the only other major
religion that believes Jesus was sent by God. 

WTBN is owned by Salem Communications, a radio
broadcasting company with Christian and family-themed
programming. The chain owns 104 stations nationwide.

 Alaykum is the best way to meet a brother. We must avoid picking and choosing whom we confer this basic right upon. All Muslims regardless of their social status and position in society should be afforded this "gateway" into our personal space. The Salaam is the best of icebreakers as it immediately brings down the barriers that we unconsciously erect around ourselves to shield us from alien invasion"Ø   when he invites you, respond to him;  When a Muslim brother invites you to a celebration, you are obliged to go, even if he didn't attend the Eid celebration you had last year. Accepting an invitation for a wedding celebration or the naming of a child is about sharing in the joys of a brother as well as joining with other Muslims in a social gathering.Ø    when he seeks counsel, give him advice;  When a brother comes to you with a problem, seeking advice, give him what he requires even if it means that you are undermining yourself in the process. Remember, you desire the best for him, don't you? Be sincere in your advice. Never take what has been told to you in confidence to another person except to demonstrate a point; even then, his identity must not be disclosed or alluded to.Ø   when he sneezes and praises Allah, say to him: `May Allah have mercy on you (Yarhamuk-Allah)' . When a Muslim sneezes, yawns, lets one go, or even when he trips and he remembers to praise Allah, we must respond to him with a prayer for Allah to have mercy on him. If we find a brother either negligent or ignorant of the need to praise Allah in all things, then we must set him right as far as his responsibility to himself and to others. The lesson is: praise Allah in all condition and appreciate the one who does this!Ø    when he is sick, visit him When you go and visit a sick brother, take a small gift along with you that will help lift his spirits. If you are unable to afford a gift, then ensure that you go armed with words of encouragement and hope from the Qur'an and Sunnah. Don't be put off by the fact that the brother is much more learned than you  you are there to lift his spirits, not to compete against him. Pray
 for him and let him pray for you too.Ø    and when he dies, follow his funeral  Attending the last rites of a brother is of utmost importance. Speaking well of him and seeking forgiveness for him will ease his condition in the grave with regards to questioning, bliss and punishment. Upon following him to the grave, one should now not turn his back on (abandon)
 him. Not abandoning him after his death is to take care of his families, remembering him in duaa regularly, and doing sadaqah (charity) on his behalf.

NABLUS, February 11 (IslamOnline.net)  I was born
here in 1924 and my father was buried the villages
cemetery only 6 months before people were forced out
back in 1948. The few signs remaining of the villages
Arab and Islamic identity are under attack, who would
help?

The speaker is 81-year old Mohamed Sulaiman Abu Leil
and the village is Lifta, located at the northern and
western entrances of Al-Quds (occupied East
Jerusalem). It is the second largest village in
Al-Quds, according to 1945 statistics.

Abu Leil was speaking, through his tears, to
IslamOnline.net about Israeli plans to wipe out the
few remaining Arab marks of the village.

He was speaking just after spotting two Israeli youth
stepping out of a house, with another girl holding a
video camera hot on their heels.

The girl has just ended shooting a pornographic film
inside the house, located in the village of Lifta to
the west of Al-Quds City, where most Palestinian
residents had been forced out, following the creation
of Israel in 1948.

The scene was a part of what local inhabitants say an
Israeli attempt to reverse its true Arab Islamic
identity.

For its part, Al-Aqsa Society of the Reconstruction of
Islamic Shrines said Israelis had turned the old
houses of the village into nightclubs and private
property for Jews only.

Every house has a Private Property. No Entry sign
emblazoned in Herbrew on its façade, according the
Society, based in Umm Al-Fahm, part of Arab lands
seized by Israel in 1948.

Even Lifta mosque was not spared. It is daubed with
graffiti on love affairs and has empty bottles of wine
inside.

Construction Plot

Israeli Al-Quds Municipality, for its part, has
declared a plan to build a new Jewish district at the
village, which is feared to lead to the destruction of
many old buildings -- still defying Israeli plans --
for the new constructions to take place.

The decision raised fury among the inhabitants of the
village.

The plotted constructions in the village (on the
debris of the cemetery) is no less than an extreme
degree of oppression, Abu Leil said tearfully.

Complaints were lodged against the Israeli
construction plans, Al-Aqsa Society said in a
statement, a copy of which was obtained by IOL
Thursday, February 10.

Israeli authorities responded to the protest,
considering the village mosque and cemetery as holy
sites  which means they could not be demolished for
the new plan.

The Society refused a compromise for turning the two
sites into public places for fear they would be turned
into restaurants, museums or exhibitions - as was the
case in other 400 villages forcibly evacuated after
the creation of Israel.

Luckier

The Israeli plan would also ban the return of local
inhabitants massively expelled from the village
despite winning judicial rulings in favor of their
comeback.

Still, most inhabitants of Lifta are luckier, since
they took refuge in nearby areas in Al-Quds - unlike
over a million other Palestinians forced from all of
the Palestinian territories in 1948 to neighboring
countries.

Muslims at present are passing through a crisis. Their unity is at stake. The controversy over so-called Ashraf and Ajlaf has deepened the crisis and some people are trying to exploit the situation for political gains. The community is going backwards day by day, Muslim ghettos have emerged in major cities while their representation in politics and other fields is decreasing. The cause of Muslim backwardness is Muslim leadership itself which failed to unite and awaken common Muslims.Muslims lagged behind because instead of working for social upliftment, some of them worked hard to destroy whatever unity they had while other communities progressed. The census records of 1961,1971,1981 and 1991 do not give any religion based data. However, the National Sample Surveys (NSS), the reports of the Gopal Singh Committee (1983) and the Minority Commission, Institute of Social and Economic Change, Bangalore and the Gujarat Institute of
Development Research, Ahmedabad show that Muslims are badly under-represented in education, government jobs and even in private entrepreneurship. Muslims constitute about 13 per cent of the total population of the country. According to the National Sample Survey 1988, 52.3 per cent Muslims were below the poverty line and their average monthly income was only Rs150, that 50.5 per cent Muslims were illiterate, and in government jobs their share was a mere 4.4 per cent. Only 3.7 per cent Muslims got any financial help, five percent received bank loans and only two per cent got industrial loans. The NSSO report of 1990 presents the same picture. The facts contradict the claims that Muslims are being appeased. Muslims are victimized through communal riots. An atmosphere is created systematically for anti-Muslim pogroms. Before Bhagalpur riots (1989) leaflets of Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Manasabha were circulated which said, "Hindu brothers, you must immediately awake and
sacrifice your wealth and body for the protection of the Hindu people and nation and for the declaration of this country as a Hindu nation". The same was the experience of Gujarat riots 2002. Muslims have not learnt any lesson from major riots like Moradabad (1980), Bhagalpur (1989), Nellie (l987) and Gujarat (2002).The Hindu-Muslim unity was in its zenith at the time of the Non-Cooperation- Khilafat joint action. The unity became an eyesore to the communalists. Hindu communalists exploited the Hindu-Muslim riots in Malabar in south India in 1921. The riots are known as Moplah rebellion. Tenants, mostly Muslims had rebelled against Hindu landlords. The rebellion revitalized Hindu communal leaders. After World War I, Hindu sabhas were founded in some provinces in 1922. They operated as a pressure group. No doubt, some people are doing their best to uplift the community. Syed Shahabuddin through his writings and Majlis-e-Mushawarat. Syed Hamid's Rabita Committee
is active in education and health. Efforts of Zafarul Islam Khan, editor of MG, cannot be overlooked. Prof Iqbal Ansari is advocating for dialogue and reconciliation among communities. But if they do not get support of Muslim masses, they will not succeed in their endeavours. Ulama should work for the awakening of common Muslims. People who are engaged in constructive work for the community should be encouraged.

TORONTO - Her voice quivered. Barely concealing her anger, Professor Amina Wadud's words bellowed across the hall, "I am a nigger and I can't do much about it." Wadud, who was speaking to a Toronto audience on Sunday, was responding to a questioner who asked her to address internalized racism within the Muslim community and if that had anything to do with the hostility she had faced from a section of the crowd.
The 300 people, who had packed Toronto's Noor Cultural Centre to hear the internationally-known scholar of the Qur'an and the role of women in Islam, froze in stunned silence as they digested the impact of her words. Eyes piercing towards her hecklers, Wadud leaned forward and stared down a group of men at the back of the hall.
"Usually I wear the hijab, and when I am wearing it, most Muslims do not consider me African-American; I pass off as a South Asian," she said. "But when they see me without a scarf, they can see my African locks and they know I am Black and suddenly their attitude changes. The fact is I am a nigger and you will just have to put up with my blackness."
This time, part of the audience erupted in applause, cheering her every word. Others started walking out hurling insults, and two men were heard jeering her, "You are just another CIA agent."
Amina Wadud, Professor of Islamic Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University and author of Qur'an and Woman: Rereading the Sacred Text from a Woman's Perspective, was speaking as part of a series sponsored by York University and the Noor Cultural Centre that has brought a number of academics to speak on the current state of Islam and the Muslim world.
Wadud's reputation preceded her, resulting in standing room only in Toronto's most progressive mosque, the only place in Canada where men and women pray side-by-side in separate enclosures.
Midway through her speech titled "The Qur'an, Women and Interpretive Possibilities," Wadud waded into the minefield by addressing some difficult passages of the Qur'an. Breaking the ultimate taboo in the Muslim narrative, she stated that despite the fact the Qur'an explicitly asks for cutting off the hands of thieves, she did not agree with the Qur'an. She said she understood that this was a very difficult subject to talk about, but she would be dishonest to herself if she did not express her views.
She maintained that as a Muslim with Allah close to her heart, in all honesty she could not continue with the hypocrisy of lying about how she felt about some verses of the Qur'an.
The basis of her talk was "How to be God's agent (khalifa) on Earth; to be a moral agent of the Creator." In this context, she presented four ways of looking at Qu'ranic verses which Muslims find difficulty dealing with. She identified the four methods as: (1) The literal readings of the text, (2) The legalistic arguments that constrain how verses are applied, (3) Reinterpretation from alternative perspectives, and (4) Saying "No to the Qur'an" when one disagrees with it.
Pursuing the last point, she declared that she could not intellectually or spiritually accept some things in the Qur'an, for example some of the hudud punishments like the cutting of hands or the permission to beat one's wife. She made it clear that she was denying neither the religion nor the revelation. "It is the Qur'an," she said, "that gives me the means to say no to the Qur'an."
However, many in the audience were completely unprepared for her honesty.
She had barely finished her talk when a long line of people lined up at the microphone to ask questions. One woman, who identified herself as a professor of Arabic Language at a Toronto University, took the mike and started lambasting Wadud, suggesting that she had come to her conclusion because she did not understand Arabic and that she had misread the Qur'an, saying, "You know only one verse of the Qur'an." Instead of a question, Wadud was subjected to a rant that was largely incomprehensible. The professor continued, accusing Wadud of supporting illicit sex, when Wadud had made no such reference.
"That is the most idiotic nonsense I have ever heard," Wadud replied.
When Amina Wadud referred to the 9/11 tragedy and the fact that some Muslims deemed it Islamic to crash planes into buildings and kill innocent people, a section of the crowd interrupted her. "What about Israel killing Palestinians," they yelled. One middle-aged heckler said, "She is a CIA agent." Other men and women lined up at the mike to accuse her of all sorts of things.
Another man, angered by Wadud's 9/11 remark, came to the mike and lectured Her. "Let me remind you that no Muslim was involved in the 9/11 attack." Wadud did not dignify his remark with a response.

What does the Quran have to say?
This should be important to know for all who are concerned with humanity and peace in this world, torn apart by strife, hatred and violence. It should be important whether one believes that the Quran is the Word of God or not.
To know what the Quran says is important because the Quran has made a deep and abiding impact on the course of human civilization and history in many fundamental ways because it has been inspiring, shaping, governing, and directing countless human lives over the ages, since it first appeared fourteen hundred years ago. And, it still does.
The Quran, among all other books believed to be divine, is the only book which itself claims, and is believed by its followers, to be literally the word of God. Those who first heard it from the lips of the prophet Muhammad had absolutely no doubt that, through him, God was speaking to them. It totally transformed them: it quickened their hearts, it reshaped their minds; it made their eyes overflow with tears and their bodies tremble with awe, it changed them into new individuals, as well as a new society and polity; it lead them to be the leaders of making and founders of a rich and flowering civilization.
However, everyone cannot venture to read the whole of the Quran though its length is less than that of the New Testament. Yet everyone should have the opportunity to taste the delicious fruits in the garden of the Quran.
The Quranic Treasures is a small step towards the fulfillment of the enormous task of making the words of the Quran heard in our times. This pocket-size, short book is an anthology of its selected verses, arranged under various topics. Though an anthology by its very nature has to leave out much precious and important material, these selections, it is hoped will give even the unfamiliar and the uninitiated a good glimpse of the vast treasures of knowledge and wisdom offered in the Quran, and will bring them face to face with the light that the Quran is.
This short pocket book, it is also hoed may spur and temp the readers to take up the reading of the whole of the Quran. Even the believers may fine it a useful companion for keeping in touch with the Quranic Teachings and making them heard in our times.

In addition to people coming forward with hard information about Todd Engstrom, a former Bridas Corporation person has come forward as well to fill in blanks and all things point to one thing: 9-11 was staged to take over the Caspian Basin oil and the pipeline needed to get that oil to the oceans. Since we do not play well with Iran, the pipelines and the oil and gas have to come across Afghanistan to get to the oceans.
Even the U.S. alleged problems in the Ukraine are tied to the Caspian Basin and the bogus glory of the BushLeague Oil Empire that thinks it can pull off this "oil scam and power grab" and dump the entire cost of acquisition, exploration and development and cost of security onto the backs of the U.S. taxpayers (and our fed up with Bush military). Yes, they are that stuck-on-stupid in BushLeague, and, no, more and more Americans are not buying their lies.

When war planning becomes a routine matter you may rest assured that this nation has now come full circle and has become the very monster it has always professed to be fighting. Especially in lieu of the fact the wars this nations war hawks are planning will be wars of their making; and wars that the neo-con cabal has been planning and looking forward to for the past 15 years, if not longer.

Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace" is exactly what this nation is being led into by a relatively small group of hard core neo-cons with an army of pundits, religious zealots, corporate greed merchants and Mayberry Machiavellis comprised of: the Project for a New American Century ; the Carlyle Group; the Heritage Foundation; the American Enterprise Institute ; the Club for Growth ; and the
Federalist Society

. All of whom are at the head of the BushCo parade attempting to redefine this nation. This is by no means all that comprise the menagerie of megalomaniacs pulling the strings of government. But these groups are pretty much at the top of the heap of those that help formulate what the foreign and domestic policies emanating from the Bush administration and Congress will be.

  "The Iraqi people gave America the biggest 'thank you' in the best way 
  we could have hoped for." Reading this election analysis from Betsy Hart, 
  a columnist for the Scripps Howard News Service, I found myself thinking 
  about my late grandmother. Half blind and a menace behind the wheel of her 
  Chevrolet, she adamantly refused to surrender her car keys. She was 
  convinced that everywhere she drove (flattening the house pets of 
  Philadelphia along the way) people were waving and smiling at her. "They 
  are so friendly!" We had to break the bad news. "They aren't waving with 
  their whole hand, Grandma  just with their middle finger."
  So it is with Betsy Hart and the other near-sighted election observers: 
  They think the Iraqi people have finally sent America those long-awaited 
  flowers and candies, when Iraq's voters just gave them the (purple) 
  finger.
  The election results are in: Iraqis voted overwhelmingly to throw out 
  the U.S.-installed government of Iyad Allawi, who refused to ask the 
  United States to leave. A decisive majority voted for the United Iraqi 
  Alliance; the second plank in the UIA platform calls for "a timetable for 
  the withdrawal of the multinational forces from Iraq."
  There are more single-digit messages embedded in the winning 
  coalition's platform. Some highlights: "Adopting a social security system 
  under which the state guarantees a job for every fit Iraqi ... and offers 
  facilities to citizens to build homes." The UIA also pledges "to write off 
  Iraq's debts, cancel reparations and use the oil wealth for economic 
  development projects." In short, Iraqis voted to repudiate the radical 
  free-market policies imposed by former chief U.S. envoy Paul Bremer and 
  locked in by a recent agreement with the International Monetary Fund.
  So will the people who got all choked up watching Iraqis flock to the 
  polls support these democratically chosen demands? Please. "You don't set 
  timetables," George W. Bush said four days after Iraqis voted for exactly 
  that. Likewise, British Prime Minister Tony Blair called the elections 
  "magnificent" but dismissed a firm timetable out of hand. The UIA's 
  pledges to expand the public sector, keep the oil and drop the debt will 
  likely suffer similar fates. At least if Adel Abd al-Mahdi gets his way  
  he's Iraq's finance minister and the man suddenly being touted as leader 
  of Iraq's next government.
  Al-Mahdi is the Bush administration's Trojan horse in the UIA. (You 
  didn't think they were going to put all their money on Allawi, did you?) 
  In October he told a gathering of the American Enterprise Institute that 
  he planned to "restructure and privatize [Iraq's] state-owned 
  enterprises," and in December he made another trip to Washington to unveil 
  plans for a new oil law "very promising to the American investors." It was 
  al-Mahdi himself who oversaw the signing of a flurry of deals with Shell, 
  BP and ChevronTexaco in the weeks before the elections, and it is he who 
  negotiated the recent austerity deal with the IMF. On troop withdrawal, 
  al-Mahdi sounds nothing like his party's platform and instead appears to 
  be channeling Dick Cheney on Fox News: "When the Americans go will depend 
  on when our own forces are ready and on how the resistance responds after 
  the elections." But on Sharia law, we are told, he is very close to the 
  clerics.
  Iraq's elections were delayed time and time again, while the occupation 
  and resistance grew ever more deadly. Now it seems that two years of 
  bloodshed, bribery and backroom arm-twisting were leading up to this: a 
  deal in which the ayatollahs get control over the family, Texaco gets the 
  oil, and Washington gets its enduring military bases (call it the "oil for 
  women program"). Everyone wins except the voters, who risked their lives 
  to cast their ballots for a very different set of policies.
  But never mind that. Jan. 30, we are told, was not about what Iraqis 
  were voting for  it was about the fact of their voting and, more 
  important, how their plucky courage made Americans feel about their 
  war. Apparently, the elections' true purpose was to prove to Americans 
  that, as George Bush put it, "the Iraqi people value their own liberty." 
  Stunningly, this appears to come as news. Chicago Sun-Times 
  columnist Mark Brown said the vote was "the first clear sign that freedom 
  really may mean something to the Iraqi people." On The Daily Show,

HERE IS SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF A FRIENDLY COUNTRY...!Condolesa Rice, the newly appointed Secretary of State asked from the Turkish President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to help improve the ugly image of the USA in the eyes of the Turkish people... According to a recent public survey around the world, the Turkish people came out the most suspicious and disgusted of the U.S. policies.  She required removal of these suspects and hate for her country... We have a suitable proverb for the situation;YOU HARVEST WHAT YOU SOW!...Now let's think a little bit about the relationship between the two countries.  The United States of America and Turkey:1- The Lausanne Treaty is the international document setting up the borders of the Republic of Turkey just after their War of 
Independence.  Why did this friendly country USA did not sign it immediately?  I suspect the health of this friendship in light of your offensive attitude. [Bir toplantida Demirel sonradan imzaladigini soyledi.  Eger hala imzalamadiysa bile hatirlatmayalim diye boyle yazdim].2- By installing long range nuclear warhead loaded missiles at our SSCB borders you set up Turkey as a first line target in front of Russia, without informing the Turkish citizens.  We found out about the threat to our country during the Cuban missile crisis and got rid of the missiles thanks to Kruschev's persistence.3- We remember that the Greek genocide against the Turkish community of Cyprus was unnoticed by the USA.  We also remember that this friendly NATO ally imposed an unjust military and economic embargo on Turkey after we intervened to stop the bloodshed on the 
Island in 1974 as one of the guarantor countries. 4- No thanks to your friendly countrys help conditions causing military revolts were prepared preventing Turkey from developing and progressing for decades. Our blessed Foreign Minister  Ihsan Sabri Caglayangil proved this reality by declaring: "The CIA has been digging our grave behind our back".  These words show this friendly country's plots against our country.5- During the NATO Stability Display Operation of October 2nd, 1992 two 'Sea Sparrow' missiles fired from the Saratoga Aircraft Carrier hit the cruiser "Muavenet" (which was the backbone of our navy) blowing up the captain's bridge.  Five officers including the commander and a sailor were killed.  Eleven of our beloved were injured seriously. This friendly country offered no excuses or compensation for our casualty. 6- Many 
states of this friendly country turn a blind eye towards the baseless claims of the Armenian community against Turkey. 7- Backed by false reports, this friendly country invaded Iraq by fooling its own public and the world besides Turkey. 8- The Defense Minister of this friendly country, accused Turkey for their military losses caused by their own mistakes and because they did not collaborate with the Turkish Intelligence during the preparation phase of their Iraqi invasion. 9- This friendly country hooded 11 of our finest soldiers who mistook their captors as guests and offered them tea in their barracks.  We will receive an apology for this event!.. 10- The USA invaded Iraq but did not protect the lives of Turkish drivers who were supplying the country's economic lifeline.  You only watched the murders 120 of our beloved 
drivers. 11- Overlooking the stability of the region, this friendly country breeds the two Kurdish tribes who declare separatism in Iraq for their own selfish benefits.  Overlooking Turkeys importance in the Middle East and its friendship may prove to be costly in the future. 12- The fraudulent manner in which this friendly country started the first war of the millennium threatens to expand towards Syria and Iran.  Is Turkey next in line?  13- Turkey as the country most suffering from terrorism lost 35 thousand of its citizens and 100 billion dollars of its wealth.  How friendly is the US if it does nothing to stop the PKK threats originating from Iraq? 
We do not wish to be friends with this unfriendly country anymore.  We stood shoulder to shoulder since the Korean War and defended the Free World against communism.  But now we discovered that our ally was no ally at all!  At last we discovered that you have been hypocritical all these years. My generation of Turks believed that World-Peace would be accomplished with the support of our friendly ally.  We feel betrayed by our trust of the USA. Now we realize that the World-Peace was a lie to suit the benefits of the U.S.A. alone.  Looks like you have used our country to block the communist threat against the rich Western Countries.  Since the Red Evil does not exist anymore, we feel discarded.

The Scientific Exegesis of The Qur'an
Justifying Quran with science or any other yardstick must be done with proper defined lines. Mistaking theses lines may lead to improper understanding and doubts. First we should clearly understand why Muslim should believe in Quran as a message of Allah (swt). Lets look at this little deeply. So, scientific justification and its degree of importance can easily understand.
Islamic teaching and its applications are universal and not confined to a language, time period or place. Similarly some reasons behind Muslims belief in Islam and Quran are irrespective of time, place and languages. However there are some other reasons that differ person-to-person and period-to-period. Early conversion to Islam are due to the fact that, Mohameds (puh) moral conducts, information regarding last prophet in the previous revelation, etc. People knew that he never tell lies, so they believed in his message, consequently some accepted due the clear message of Quran without mistakes and its ability to make realize the myths and mistakes in that society such as idle worshiping. Some literate people recognized the truth with Qurans way of presenting which was unable to challenge by poets. Like wise we can increase the list by analyzing until the Quran was revealed completely. Every message made them recognize the truth and gave a motivation to accept.
Whatever be the attracted reason towards Islam, they had a primary reason to believe, which they understood with the word " there is no god but Allah". This primary reason had not changed even right now.
Now the question is why nowadays people believe in Quran as a message of Allah. Here this can be analyzed in many ways. Let me put my understanding. Ill list down in three types. Primary reason, Supportive reason and Extended reasons. Primary reason is one can understand irrespective of intellectual capacity, language, time and place. Supportive reason is Qurans miraculous nature that can comprehend by a person; comprehension may differ based on a persons ability to understand Arabic. Finally extended reasons, this could differ person to person based on intellectual capacity, knowledge on specific subject, time, place, etc. Mean time one of this extended reason may be more attractive to a person than another based on his knowledge and profession, which leads to proper understanding.
Primary reason; note here, it is "reason" and not "reasons". Though I present in point form all these are inter connected and just one answer, point to note here, "to accept Islam this is sufficient": -

No doubts in divine nature of god

Quran ask us to understand the existence of god by looking at creations. That is, its construction and the way it functions. Hence it insists us to accept the existence of god. For example man could look at him self. Every organ is properly placed in an organized way and its placements are meaningful. Eyes, hands, legs, lungs, heart etc. placed in an organized way. To organize such there should be an organizer and this is god. To understand this, a person need not to be a literate because " to organize things an organizer should exist" is a simple fact that can understand by human. In other words An organized being cannot come to existent by chance. Religion like Buddhism fails to recognize this and do not support the question how organized universe came in to existent. Another issue is Quran presents god as unlimited. Rest of the religions give a limited image on him so cannot accept. Anyone with material needs and instincts cannot be termed as god. Eg:-
Christianity, Judaism and Hinduism insist god is having family members such as either son, brother or mother, hence it makes god limited as this is an attribute of creations. In Quranic teaching above two messages, that is; existence of god and his nature do not leads to any doubts regarding his divinity, this verifies the message is from god. (For more information)

Quran is cable of providing solution to the questions and problems without conflict and contradiction hence becomes complete. Some of this solutions cannot be identified by each of us as it needs intense study on Quran and its explanation by Sunnah, in such cases all of us can understand the solutions without difficulty once the solutions are presented. In other words Quran makes man to accept it by attracting with errorless message in all matters. For example by reading quran we can understand that implementation of Quran will lead to a peaceful society. As its teachings could give us a clear social order and its teachings do not conflict each other, so no conflicts in implementation. Listening to the Qur'an being recited correctly is enough to soften even the hardest of hearts and Muslims and non-Muslims alike find it a deeply moving experience even if they do not understand what is being said. We feel this even more in Ramadaan when we are in the Taraweeh prayers and we can really feel the difference if we go to a Masjid where the Tajweed rules of Qur'an recitation are not being observed as they should.
Every single Muslim has to recite Qur'an in Salah but many of us do not realise that reciting the Qur'an correctly, observing the rules of recitation is not an advanced science for expert reciters alone, rather it is an obligation upon each and every one of us whenever we recite the Qur'an.
What is Tajweed?The word Tajweed linguistically means 'proficiency' or 'doing something well'. It comes from the same root letters as the word 'Jayyid' in Arabic (meaning 'good'): Jeem, Waw and Daal. When applied to the Qur'an, it means
Giving every letter of the Qur'an its rights and dues of characteristics when we recite the Qur'an and observing the rules that apply to those letters in different situations.
We give the letters their rights by observing the essential characteristics of each letter that never leave it. And we give them their dues by observing the characteristics of each letter that are present in them some of the time and not present at other times.The Qur'an was revealed with Tajweed rules applied to it. In other words, when the angel Jibreel (alaihis salaam) recited the words of Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) he recited them in a certain way and he showed the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) the ways in which it was permissible to recite the Qur'an. So it is upon us to observe those rules so that we recite it in the way it was revealed. At the time of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) there was no need for people to study Tajweed because they talked with what is now known
as Tajweed so it was natural for them. When the Arabs started mixing with the non-Arabs as Islam spread, mistakes in Qur'an recitation started appearing, so the scholars had to record the rules. Now, because the everyday Arabic that Arabs speak has changed so much from the Classical Arabic with which the Qur'an was revealed, even Arabs have to study Tajweed.The purpose of Tajweed?
The Qur'an is the word of Allah, and its every syllable is from Allah. Its recitation must be taken very seriously. The purpose of the Science of Tajweed in essence is to make the reciter proficient in reciting the Qur'an, observing the correct pronunciation of every letter with the rulings and characteristics which apply to each letter, without any exaggeration or deficiency. And so through this the reciter can recite the Qur'an upon the way of the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) who received it from Jibreel who received it from Allah (subhanahu wa ta'aala) in the Classical Arabic dialect that it came down in.Arabic letters each have a Makhraj - an exit or articulation point - in the mouth or throat from which they originate and they also each have Sifaat - attributes, or characteristics - particular to them. Knowing the Makhraj and
Sifaat of each letter is an important part of Tajweed. Sometimes two letters have very similar exits which makes mixing them up easy. So if a person does not know the attributes of each letter there is a danger that he will change the meaning of the words in Qur'an recitation. Observing the rules of Tajweed in reciting protects the reciter from making mistakes in reciting the Qur'an.The ruling of reading with Tajweed Muhammad bin Al-Jazaree the great Qur'an and Hadeeth scholar of the 9th Century (Hijri) says in his famous poem detailing the rules of Tajweed: "And applying Tajweed is an issue of
absolute necessity, Whoever doesn't apply Tajweed to the Qur'an, then a sinner is he." Sheikh Zakariyyaa Al-Ansari [died in 926 H.] said in explanation of this verse in his book: Sharh al-Muqaddimah al-Jazariyyaa "It is required to observe all of the Arabic rules in that which changes it and ruins the meaning". So he regarded it as an obligation to keep away from the major mistakes in reciting the Qur'an. The scholars have divided the types of mistakes one might fall into when reciting the Qur'an into two types: 1. Clear mistakes: which usually change obvious things and change the meaning. 2. Unobvious (hidden) mistakes: for which one may need to study Tajweed rules. And the majority of scholars agree that applying the Tajweed rules of Qur'an such that the Clear Mistakes are avoided is an individual obligation (Fard 'Ayn) upon every Muslim who has memorised

Throughout much of the globe the _expression_ "let the season of love begin" is being heard. It's that time of the year again when roses abound, trinkets are exchanged and confessions of love and promises (which are rarely kept) are declared. February14 th, also known as St. Valentine's Day, is the time of year that for centuries has been dedicated to honour love and the pursuit of romance.
On this day the postal services will be inundated with cards and letters, bearing the responsibility of playing 'cupid', forwarding messages of 'true love'. Youngsters will be making Valentine's cards, or if they're in Wales, they will be making love spoons which they will be encouraged to give to their valentine in the playground. Moreover, the Valentine's Day rituals of anonymous cards, chocolates and gifts are expected between secret admirers.
So what's the harm in all this some may ask? After all, is it not a day to remind your spouse of how much you love them, or for the children to indulge in a bit of fun? Valentine's Day is not simply about showing your affection to your partner or spouse, but it is in fact a day to remove all inhibitions and show your feelings to the person you secretly desire, a colleague, classmate, next door neighbour, relative etc, but someone to whom on any other day of the year it would not be easy to approach.
THE STORY OF ST VALENTINE
During the fifth century the Catholic Church wanted to end a pagan fertility rite that the Romans had practised every year since the4 th century BC. During the month of February a lottery would be held to celebrate a young man's rite of passage to the "god" Lupericus. Young teenage girls participated in this lottery, with their names being placed in a box and drawn at random by young men. Through the lottery these young girls would be assigned to the man who picked them out, in order to enjoy 'mutual pleasure' for the duration of a year until the next year's lottery.
The Church was unhappy with the promiscuous nature of this ritual and tried to end it by selecting a "Lover's Saint", who would be honoured as a replacement of the ritual of Lupericus. They chose a bishop by the name of Valentine who had been executed in the3 rd century AD. His punishment was as a result of his defying the Emperor Claudius who had banned marriages saying that married men made poor soldiers, as they did not want to leave their families during battles. Valentine invited lovers to come to him to be married in secret, a crime for which he was executed. However, before he died he is said to have sent a farewell message to the jailer's daughter with whom he had fallen in love while in prison. It read "From your Valentine."
VALENTINE'S DAY-A celebration of promiscuity
The modern day ritual of Valentine's Day has developed into something quite different from the intentions of Valentine. Indeed, it is ironic to think that what the Church tried to achieve so long ago was the preservation of the institution of marriage, in the guise of St Valentine's Day. The reality of Valentine's Day and what is associated with it is quite different; the return of promiscuity to society, relationships built upon and that result in fornication, unwanted pregnancies, back street abortions and all things that lead to the degradation and loss of honour in society.
Sadly, the corruption that ensues from this celebration of immorality affects all levels of society. Far from being a harmless activity, Valentine's Day is big business in Western society. Television and newspapers will publicise Valentine's Day through their promotion of special programmes, articles and events. Department stores, gift shops, the Post Office and clothes shops will be fully decorated with red roses and heart shaped balloons, enticing customers to purchase all that they will need to make their Valentine's Day dreams a reality.
Throughout the country in the month of February countless numbers of schools, universities and clubs are in preparation for balls and parties, inviting the unsuspecting populace. Regrettably, some Muslims will inevitably be amongst them lured into the havens of free mixing, alcohol, drugs, and illicit sexual encounters.
At school girls and boys will compete with each other to see who received the most Valentines cards and boast about the number of secret admirers they have. Others will be hiding their faces with humiliation in the realisation that nobody wants to show an ounce of romantic interest in them. Teachers and pupils will be organising the annual Valentines party, which for many youngsters will be their first encouragement to partake in the temptations of the opposite sex.

I know this group is just for ISLAM(AhluSunnahWalJamaat), but I think this issue must be brought up because many of the group members complained of the low capacity of the hotmail accounts, which was 2 mb only.. and that causes the E-mail inbox to be filled with my group messages..
This trick is for those who live in non-western countries..
Microsoft proved she was a very big racist.. For western countries, she gives 250 mb mail capacity, and for non-western countries she gives just 2 mb capacity..

Anyway, here is the way to update your email from 2 mb to 250 mb..

1- login to your hotmail account. (www.hotmail.com)

2- Then go to "options" button..

3- Now, in "options" click the "Personal" button from the left menue, then go to "My Profiles", as seen below.

4- Now, change your country and zip code to any western country.. in the above picture, there is an example of Australia (the goat's milk drinkers country ... just teasing someone in this group). Then click the "Update" button.

6- Click continue to continue..

7- Now, copy this link and paste it in the SAME WINDOW of your Internet browser you are using now as doing these steps.. Be aware of this, paste this link in the SAME WINDOW of your Internet browser.

Maal Hijrah Awwal Muharram Awwal Khilafah Maal Hijrah marks a day of tremendous importance, not only for the Islamic Ummah but also for the whole world. Not only is it the Islamic new year, it was the beginning of a golden age of justice, learning and civilisation, a new system of life for mankind. Within 10 years, this tiny City State, was to purify the Hijaz from Mushrikeen, overcome the Persians and humble the Roman empires and absorb both into Dar ul Islam. It marks the birth of the worlds first ideological state Daulah Islamiyyah in Madinat ul Munawwarah. This day now passes almost like any other new years day of any other peoples of the world. Indeed, at this time when the war against Islam (the so called
GWOT) continues unabated, albeit at a more subtle and sinister level - the soft war, to corrupt our hearts and minds and terrify us into submission, it is all the more important that we reflect on the true significance of this day. Awal Muharram, our New Year of the Islamic lunar calendar commemorates the Hijrah the emigration of the Believers from Makkah to Madinah. Although, prior to the Hijrah they were tortured and slayed in Makkah for their Islam, the Muslims werent emigrating to Madinah merely to escape persecution. Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam and the first Muslims were taking a critical strategic step, to establish Daulah Islamiyyah so as to manifest and implement the Deen of Islam and to take the Islamic dawah to the rest of the world. Daulah Islamiah the implementation of Islam The whole nature of Islam and the Muslims were transformed. Whereas in Makkah there were only general rules, in Madinah there were detailed systems and
rules, implemented and enforced. Whereas previously Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam could only watch as the family of Yasser RA and others were tortured to death, now he would accept no persecution and was preparing the fledgling Islamic State for war. Madinah the first ideological state The significance of Madinah cannot be underestimated. It was the
worlds first ideological state, established on the Aqeedah of Islam. It was not a state based on selfish benefit of one nation or tribe or race or accidents of geography. Nor was it an empire built on enslavement or lies or material greed. Within days of arriving Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam had set out a covenant establishing the rights and responsibilities of ruler and citizens both Muslims and dhimmis. Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam defined the nature of the Islamic Ummah and the Daulah of Islam. The noble covenant of Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam read, This is a document from Muhammad the Prophet, governing the relations between the Believers and Muslims of Quraish and Yathrib and those who followed them, and joined them and fought alongside them. They are ONE UMMAH TO THE EXCLUSION OF ALL PEOPLE. To the Jews who follow us belong help and equality. They shall not be wronged, nor shall their enemies be aided.
