There is a new PooledConnection interfaced added in JDBC 2.0 API. However, one must use a DataSource object rather than the DriverManager class to get a connection. There is a list of JDBC driver vendors at http://java.sun.com/products/jdbc/drivers.html. i-Net Software has a type 4 driver for SQL Server that is very reasonably priced, as middleware goes. We are just beginning to test it, so I can't give any opinions. HTH.
