Re: [kaffe] Microsoft Features in Kaffe
It is a strange story. There are only 3 Java classes as the result of this? Is there c code for this too? Re: [kaffe] J2ME anf Kaffe
Gabriella Sanchez wrote: Hi! everybody I'm beginning to use kaffe, Do you know if Kaffe can run a "jar" file from J2ME (Java 2 Micro Edition) ? It depends. If the jar file use ME-specific APIs that are not present in Java SE, then the answer is no, unless you use an ME wrapper for SE like ME4SE. cheers, dalibor topic ___ kaffe mailing list kaffe@kaffe.org http://kaffe.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kaffe
Re: [kaffe] Kaffe on sh4-linux architecture
Olivier Quilez wrote: Hello, I'm currently trying to install a JVM on a set-top box with a STb7109 processor, sh4 (superH) family. I saw on the Ports page that there was a superh version of Kaffe ; however I couldn't manage to find it. I saw, searching in the mailing list archives, that the config used to be in Kaffe's main release, however this isn't the case anymore... Could anyone help me, finding this config, or finding a compatible java for sh4? It was moved from config/superh to config/sh. http://kaffe.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/kaffe/config/sh/ cheers, dalibor topic ___ kaffe mailing list kaffe@kaffe.org http://kaffe.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kaffe

The JNI was being built with the -fPIC -DPIC compiler/linker option, which apparently was the cause of the trouble. Thanks for the update, and I'm glad you were able to track it down. Can you think of an automatic way to detect the problem from within the VM? cheers, dalibor topic ___ kaffe mailing list kaffe@kaffe.org http://kaffe.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kaffe

It didn't see any patches, and I've never seen free software using those APIs. cheers, dalibor topic ___ kaffe mailing list kaffe@kaffe.org http://kaffe.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kaffe

I think this might be it... http://kaffe.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/pocketlinux/XOE_1.0/src/kaffe-all/src/libraries/javalib/microsoft/ That's in the old Transvirtual Kaffe tree. I believe that Transvirtual was paid to implement these by Microsoft's legal team (who were embroiled in a legal war with Sun at the time). Strange story, eh? :-) Cheers, - Jim Michael Franz wrote: Hi, I was browsing around the kaffe site and found this article from 1999 [1], are these features in kaffe? If so, what are they?
