[kwin] [Bug 417614] New: [regression] kwin 5.18.0 ignores custom FPS set in ~/.config/kwinrc
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417614 Bug ID: 417614 Summary: [regression] kwin 5.18.0 ignores custom FPS set in ~/.config/kwinrc Product: kwin Version: 5.18.0 Platform: Neon Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: compositing Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: s_chriscoll...@hotmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Kwin compositing appears to operate at a frame rate equal to the lowest refresh rate among all connected monitors. This means that even though my primary monitor operates at 120 Hz, everything is being forced to 75 FPS due to my second monitor operating at only 75 Hz. Prior to the upgrade to Plasma 5.18, I was able to work around this using the following settings: 1. ForceCompositionPipeline=On in NVIDIA driver (this ensures tear-free video, always) 2. "MaxFPS=120" and "RefreshRate=120" added to ~/.config/kwinrc under the [Compositing] section (this forces the compositor to operate at 120 FPS) 3. Tearing prevention ("vsync") in kwin compositing settings set to "None" Using these settings in Plasma 5.17, the compositor operated at a smooth 120 FPS, and NVIDIA's ForceCompositionPipeline feature ensured that there was no screen tearing on either monitor. However, in Plasma 5.18, the above mentioned settings in kwinrc are no longer honored, and the "Show FPS" desktop effect confirms that kwin is only operating at 75 FPS. I can only get kwin to operate at 120 Hz if I disable my secondary monitor. Please let me know if there is a workaround for this issue. Thank you. [knotes] [Bug 417608] New: Feature Request: Option to remove configure button on knote widget.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417608 Bug ID: 417608 Summary: Feature Request: Option to remove configure button on knote widget. Product: knotes Version: unspecified Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org Reporter: sparky123558w...@gmail.com CC: myr...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 126000 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=126000=edit Example of the configure button being visible on the desktop when widget not being edited. SUMMARY Having the configure button visible at all times is not the best visually speaking. I was just wondering if it was possible to make this go away on the note itself. We still have access to it when editing the widget itself. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Add knote to desktop. 2. Leave it there. 3. Configure button always visible. OBSERVED RESULT Configure button always visible in lower corner of note. EXPECTED RESULT Configure button disappear once note is configured to color of choice. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Fedora Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.17.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.66 Qt Version: 5.13.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION On the image I include. It does look noticeably worse since I'm using a transparent note. This gives the configure button the appearance of floating off onto the desktop by itself. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[systemsettings] [Bug 417493] Light GTK theme doesn't override gtk-application-prefer-dark-theme
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417493 --- Comment #7 from Frederick Zhang --- I'm actually *not* using Breeze but Materia-light-compact instead. As it's a third-party theme I tested the case with Breeze hence it in this filed issue. While I agree that users who choose Breeze *usually* are expected to 'want for GTK apps to look as similar to Qt apps as possible', only hiding suffixes of official themes would though create a special case, of which I'm not the hugest fan. Personally I'd appreciate some consistency here and tbh I don't understand why we have to create more work here just to forbid users from choosing another variant of a theme which they currently can. The workflow I would expect is: 1. When a user applies a Global Theme, simply change the GTK one as well (if it's got a corresponding one), and also choose the same dark/light variant here (even for third-party ones if feasible). It's called 'Global Theme' and this is what one should expect. 2. Users can then optionally go to Configure GNOME/GTK Application Style and choose whichever theme/variant they want. If someone happens to select Breeze light here while using Breeze Dark as the Global Theme, simply let it be then cos they manually go through the extra steps to intentionally change it so it must be what they want. 3. gtk-application-prefer-dark-theme is synchronised to GNOME/GTK Application Style. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417604 Bug ID: 417604 Summary: Scrolling direction inverted in some Plasma applications Product: systemsettings Version: 5.18.0 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: kcm_touchpad Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: pietro.font...@posteo.net Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Since few KDE Plasma versions I observed that setting the scrolling direction between most applications (Firefox, Dolphin, Okular, Konsole) and some Plasma specific applications (network applet, system settings) is inverted. If I enable "natural scrolling" then this applies correctly to most applications but not to Plasma applets etc., if I disable the situation is the opposite. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Scroll in System Settings and in Dolphin (for example) 2. Enable/Disable "natural scrolling" 3. Scroll again OBSERVED RESULT The direction of scrolling is different in the two applications. EXPECTED RESULT The direction of scrolling is always the same in every application. In particular the use case we're targeting is allowing people to turn all the transparency *off* (without having to use a totally different Plasma theme, of course), but as long as the proposed setting is implemented as a slider rather than an on-off checkbox, it could accommodate your use case too. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Dark/Light theme should not be based on > framework, that is used by programmers to write application, but rather on a > particular application itself or the whole look (Global Dark/Light mode). > > But it's actually my fault. We shouldn't give an ability to set dark/light > themes in GTK page. For example "Breeze" and "Breeze-dark" should be > collapsed into just "Breeze" and "Adwaita" and "Adwaita-dark" to just > "Adwaita". Those will set their colors dynamically. I agree. It's not your fault though, it's always been that way. :) If a user wants to have a different style for GTK apps, they're still welcome to do that; just select a GTK theme that isn't Breeze-GTK. Someone using Breeze-GTK, is signaling that they want for GTK apps to look as similar to Qt apps as possible, so we should honor that request. So I think it's perfectly reasonable to just show "Breeze-GTK" and not its light or dark variants. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
