[kmymoney] [Bug 466972] New: Difficulty translating kmymoney.cpp i18n string "save storage"

2023-03-06 Thread Oliver Kellogg
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=466972

Bug ID: 466972
Summary: Difficulty translating kmymoney.cpp i18n string "save
storage"
Classification: Applications
   Product: kmymoney
   Version: git (master)
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kmymoney-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: okell...@users.sourceforge.net
  Target Milestone: ---

On git master kmymoney/kmymoney.cpp class KMyMoneyApp functions slotFileSave
and slotFileSaveAs,
there are the i18n strings

"Failed to save your storage."
"Couldn't find suitable plugin to save your storage."
"Couldn't find any plugin for saving storage."

I find this hard to translate.
Translating it literally (to Esperanto) gives

"Malsukcesis konservi vian konservejon."
"Ne eblis trovi [...]programon por konservi vian konservejon."
"Ne eblis trovi [...]programon por konservi konservejon."

The duplication "to save" (konservi) and "storage" (konservejo) looks strange.
What is meant by "storage"?
Could it be thought of as "data"?

Please either change the term "storage" to something clearer, or (if that is
not adequate) provide i18n context for easier translation.
Many thanks.

[valgrind] [Bug 466104] aligned_alloc problems, part 1

I haven't much changed Linux glibc, but just about all the other platforms have
been overhauled.

The behaviour is still static. However it shouldn't be too difficult to
refactor the present code to make it runtime configurable. If ever we do that
then we could have a set of bitmasks that would correspond to things like
VG_MEMALIGN_ALIGN_POWER_TWO (there 1 to 4 per function). Then we could have
either specific options or options like --malloc-lib=tcmalloc (or both).

That would add a bit of overhead - the current code with static macros should
optimize out all the ones that are turned off.

Bug 466104 - aligned_alloc problems, part 1

I think that these are all now done.
This commit refactors memalign and updates manual-core.xml
to say some behaviour of Valgrind depends on the build time
OS and libraries.

Bug ID: 466973
Summary: Events can overlap such as one hides the other
Classification: Applications
   Product: korganizer
   Version: 5.22.3
  Platform: Debian unstable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

Screenshot

SUMMARY
When working with a few events that extend over more than one day, it is easy
to get into a situation when one event hides the other

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a couple of multi-day events. E.g. in the screenshot:
   - event1: 06-03 - 06-04
   - event2: 06-04 - 06-05
   - event4: 06-26 - 07-03
   - event5: 07-06 - 0709
2. Notice the event 3 may or may no be visible, depending on the order of
creation and interaction.

OBSERVED RESULT

EXPECTED RESULT
Easier to distinguish and interact with the different events.

weird elements on windows when using titlebars accent-colored

SUMMARY
When you enable titlebars accent-colored and using Breeze Dark global theme,
some elements look weird, for example

* titlebars accent-colored-1.png
- the line that divides the header in System Setting turn black instead of some
white tone.

* titlebars accent-colored-2.png
- in dolphin the outline of the selected view mode doesn't have enough contrast
with the selected color.
- the same happens whith eh back and forward buttons when are disabled (I don't
know if this is the name of the state so sorry if isn't)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. System Settings > Appearance > Colors
2. Enable titlebars accent-colored
3. Choose #3daee9 as accent color (I've think this is the one that is in
fourth position from right to left in the available colors)

OBSERVED RESULT
Some elements don't have 'visual consistency' with the rest of the window.

  Platform: Archlinux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

Frameworks Version: 5.103.0
Operating System: Linux 6.2.2-arch1-1 x86_64
Windowing System: X11
Distribution: "Arch Linux"
DrKonqi: 5.27.2 [KCrashBackend]

-- Information about the crash:
I am using kdevelop on Arch Linux to build wx apps as cmake projects. A few
weeks or months ago, it was just fine. Now kdevelop 22.12.3 crashes when it
parses the source files after the project is successfully loaded. Once in a
while, it would load and parse successfully.

I can't know if it's related to kdevelop internals, or to a problem in the
cmake files of wxWidgets. Other projects not involving wxWidgets do not have
this issue. The problem has been tagged 'out of scope' on the wxWidgets forum.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Sorry for the bad video quality...

1) Both monitors are setup to 100%
https://www.dropbox.com/s/npy9i4xamdcddyl/VID_20230306_222847.mp4?dl=0

The fullHD monitor displays the 1920x1080 image as 'fit' but i can zoom to 100%
- and the image covers the screen (see also the zoom-box in lower right corner)

2) Now, fullHD is 100%, 2k monitor is 175%
https://www.dropbox.com/s/9vovux9aqpesi53/VID_20230306_223108.mp4?dl=0

The 1920x1080 is initially rendered as 'fit' and way smaller (scaled/zoomed) as
in the 100/100% scenario.
Setting zoom to 100% still does not make the image cover the whole screen, it's
still smaller although it should be pixel-perfect sized to the screen
dimensions

Here you can also see the problem with the browse button
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=466739) and the messed up folder-view
when moving the mouse

SUMMARY
When animating stuff in Krita and using the onion skins feature it's very easy
to mess up the opacity sliders on the "Onion Skins" docker without a quick way
to restore them.

It would be great having some option to restore them to default settings, like
a defaults button on the "Onion Skins" docker or a right-click context menu on
the sliders themselves.

[kwin] [Bug 466741] wayland: 2 monitor setup with 175%/100% scaling: mouse scroll-wheel creates a jumping motion when operated slowly

2023-03-06 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=466741

I did some further testing and i think this could also be related to the
mouse-settings
I'm using a logitech M525 mouse and solaar running in the backround. It's using
the 'scroll wheel high resolution' option set to enabled.

Depending on how you (gently) touch the scrollwheel, this causes jumps when
operated slowly and gets smoother the quicker you scroll.
Maybe this has nothing to do with plasma/screen renderings

And yes, firefox behaves differently as chrome regarding scrolling.

I'd say the culprit is the mouse, i am tempted to close this as well...

In general, when the screen is turned off, user interaction is required to turn
it back on. Perhaps the issue here is that opening the lid isn't counted as
user interaction.

The text after the dash is the app name. We strip it so it doesn't duplicate
the text that appears in the tooltip right above it.

The issue here is that the window is changing its app name after launch. That's
kinda sus. It shouldn't do that. Apps don't get different names at runtime. So
this appears to be an app bug.

I'm afraid Plasma 5.24 is unfortunately no longer eligible for support or
maintenance. Plasma is a fast-moving project, and bugs in one version are often
fixed in the next one. Please update to Plasma 5.27 as soon as your distro
offers it to you. If you need support for Plasma 5.24, please contact your
distro, who bears the responsibility of providing support for older non-LTS
releases.

If you can reproduce the issue after upgrading to Plasma 5.27, feel free to
re-open this bug report.

Thanks for understanding!

[NeoChat] [Bug 466980] New: Neochat crashes when closing main window

2023-03-06 Thread Alexander Wilms
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=466980

Bug ID: 466980
Summary: Neochat crashes when closing main window
Classification: Applications
   Product: NeoChat
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: fe...@posteo.de
  Reporter: f.alexander.wi...@gmail.com
CC: c...@carlschwan.eu
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: neochat (23.01)

Qt Version: 5.15.8
Frameworks Version: 5.103.0
Operating System: Linux 6.2.1-1-default x86_64
Windowing System: X11
Distribution: "openSUSE Tumbleweed"
DrKonqi: 5.27.2 [KCrashBackend]

-- Information about the crash:
Neochat was working fine but crashed when clicking the close button in the
window decoration.

Something unusual, which might be unrelated: The main window fails to show the
list of rooms and the chat history when I log into KDE. kwallet asks for my
passwort but when I enter it, Neochat keeps showing a loading bar. I can only
start Neochat by running it from the console. I'll add that to the "see also"
section once I've reported that issue as well.

The reporter is unsure if this crash is reproducible.

[kmymoney] [Bug 466981] New: Update Stock and Currency Prices clutters systemd journal

2023-03-06 Thread Albert Hensel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=466981

Bug ID: 466981
Summary: Update Stock and Currency Prices clutters systemd
journal
Classification: Applications
   Product: kmymoney
   Version: 5.1.3
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kmymoney-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: ahp...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

When updating stock and currency prices under Investments / Equities, KMyMoney
prints the source text of the corresponding web page (providing the online
quotes) to the standard error stream (prefixed "kmymoney_webpricequote:
quotedata"), which in my case gets redirected to the systemd journal. For me,
this creates about one megabyte of log data for every price update.

The expected behavior is not to waste resources with huge unsolicited debug
messages.

IIRC it's a generic issue on Wayland. The same happens to panel popups; they
open behind "keep on top" windows

Based on the backtrace, the bug would appear to be in Qt or the kernel. Could
be a packaging issue with Qt coming from the backports PPA; please report to
the Kubuntu folks. Thanks!

Definitely would be nice to set the version number automatically, But when I
test this and click "Report a Bug in the Current Page", it defaults to
selecting "master" in the version table for all pages I tried.

What page did this behavior happen with?

I'm afraid Plasma 5.14 is unfortunately no longer eligible for support or
maintenance. Plasma is a fast-moving project, and bugs in one version are often
fixed in the next one. Please update to Plasma 5.27 as soon as your distro
offers it to you. If you need support for Plasma 5.14, please contact your
distro, who bears the responsibility of providing support for older non-LTS
releases.

If you can reproduce the issue after upgrading to Plasma 5.27, feel free to
re-open this bug report.

Thanks for understanding!

Thank you for the bug report! Unfortunately I can't reproduce the crash myself
in Plasma 5.27.2, and the backtrace is incomplete and missing debug symbols for
the following lines that we need to figure out exactly what's going wrong:

> #25 0x7fe6815974cb in ?? () from
> /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/plasma/kcms/systemsettings/kcm_fonts.so

Could you please install debug symbols for Plasma, reproduce the crash, and
attach a new symbolicated backtrace? See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports

Thanks again!

How curious. I also don't know where this comes from, but it's probably
something in KWin. It also doesn't seem to work for me when triggered with a
touchpad; it switches but then goes right back after the scroll gesture ends.
