[dolphin] [Bug 429067] Dolphin does not return the path of the locally mounted network drive through kio-fuse during drag and drop

Is this a bug or an enhancement? Because, I think the fix would be simple, and
yet it's 4-years old.

If I open an SMB shared directory and double-click a video file, MPV plays it
fine, because Dolphin passes a converted local address to MPV. But if I
drag-and-drop the same file to the same MPV, MPV crashes, because Dolphin
passes the raw "smb://" address. Then, can't this be solved by passing the same
converted local address for drag-and-drop, too? Why pass different addresses
depending on double-click or drag-and-dropping?

If for some historical backward-compatibility reason, drag-and-drop needs to
remain raw network address, how about having an option in the Dolphin's
configuration? It could allow users to choose whether to use converted local
address or the raw network address for drag-and-drop.

Bug ID: 486327
Summary: Black screen with Wayland and Nvidia after locking the

Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 6.0.4
  Platform: Neon
OS: Linux

SUMMARY

I have an MSI GS75 8SE laptop with KDE Plasma 6.0.4. I have disabled the
laptop's screen and have the laptop connected to an LG 34GN850-B monitor via
Thunderbolt. In the BIOS, I have disabled the Intel card and am using only the
Nvidia RTX2060. I use Wayland on Plasma. The Nvidia drivers on my system are
version 550.78. Everything works fine. If I lock the session or leave and it
locks automatically, I can log back in without any problem. However, sometimes,
if a significant amount of time passes and I try to log back in, after entering
my password the screen turns black and only the mouse cursor is visible,
forcing me to shut down the computer and restart.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Lock the session or leave the computer so it auto-locks the session.
2. Wait a considerable amount of time.
3. Try to log back in. It will freeze after entering the password.

OBSERVED RESULT

Black screen where only the mouse cursor is visible.

EXPECTED RESULT

That I can log back into the session.

SUMMARY
Using openSUSE Tumbleweed on a Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen9. I have a setup with a
Lenovo USB-C dock with two external screens connected. It is configured to have
only the external screens when connected (built-in screen disabled). When I
close the lid of the laptop all external screens switch off since probably last
week. Before it was not happening and nothing was changed in settings. When
doing a fresh boot with lid closed the login screen is on both external screens
but after login they switch off. Opening the lid switches on external screens
as expected (built-in screen is disabled as set). Additionally after closing
and opening the lid some windows are shifted halfway off the screen (see
attachment). If I disconnect one of the monitors physically, it works as
expected. Connecting immediately results in switch off of both external screens
if lid is closed.

SUMMARY
When using the KDialog slider function, if the user clicks "OK", the exit code
from the process is 1 (which indicates an error) but when clicking "Cancel" the
exit code is 0 (which normally indicates successful completion in UNIX).

Other functions I've tested - such as the input box function - behave as
expected with "OK" producing a 0 exit code, and "Cancel" producing an exit code
of 1.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. In your terminal run  `kdialog --slider "Test" "1" "10" "1" && echo OK ||
echo Cancel`
2. In the dialog box that pops up, press "OK"

Multimedia keys stopped working after updating to plasma 6.

Closing as based on the last comment, this might have actually worked back 10
years ago. If everything's in right place on first start / first collection
update / rescan, the copy process probably works. (This is somewhat sensitive,
as the tracks not being in collection for during a scan can easily lead them to
be deemed removed, but writing stats to files is a possibility. Additionally,
some related bugs that might have caused loss of statistics if the paths were
not exactly the same have been fixed since.)

Only rolling release distro will get confronted with this.
Those distro updated Qt to 6.7 before devs even started using it and Qt 6.7
introduced some very low-level behavior changes causing crashes (deleteLater()
now crash when called with a nullptr object, most likely because of

[Craft] [Bug 486333] bootstrapping with -localdev does not use the specified craft package

Since the url from which craft is cloned is permanently set to
https://invent.kde.org/packaging/craft.git, this is particularly annoying if,
for example, you want/need to use a local copy of craft in a corporate
environment due to the corresponding framework conditions, which is currently
not possible.

Git commit 5e0b6cbf1b9ef5c1e181caa2726a5591ff0d5fde by Méven Car, on behalf of
Andrew Gunnerson.
Committed on 30/04/2024 at 10:14.
Pushed by meven into branch 'master'.

PreviewJob: Add file extension to thumbnail temp files

Previously, when previewing remote files, kio would create a local copy
of the file using QTemporaryFile's default template. This would result
in filenames, like /tmp/dolphin.XX. However, some thumbnail plugins,
like kdegraphics-thumbnailers' libkdcraw thumbnailer, require the file
extension to be valid in order to produce a preview.

This commit updates the temp file's naming template to include the
original file extension (if any).

If running the appimage does nothing and Krita does not open, it is a problem
for me. In the stable version 5.1 of Krita, it did not open on 3 of my
machines, and the solution was to use the alpha version. Now the alpha version
does not work, and version 5.2.2 works.

If you tell me how to extract more information to understand the reason why the
appimage does not open, I am willing to help with all the tests.

My Linux Mint is up to date, and I have verified that this version of the
package libstdc++.so.6.0.32 is not available in the stable version. If I do
this manually, it will break other packages; if I add servers, it will break
more packages, and my system becomes a mess. In my view, these libraries could
be packaged together to prevent errors, but that is just my opinion.

I can second this. There's no easy way to list & control processes in Plasma
since KSysGuard widget removal in Plasma 6 (KDE Neon).

I consider the new System Monitor a handy tool for its - well system monitoring
- tasks. Neat charts, great customization. But for this task it is too slow and
heavy. Main issues are keyboard navigation and the performance mentioned at bug
#479321.

I also miss the possibility to watch the system monitor charts and process list
at the same time.

I've made few more observations since.
The issue is not persistent and constant as it was when I reported it, that
seem to have been the right moment where I caught it in full swing.
laptop was asleep for few hours after reporting this bug and I didn't see the
same CPU usage by kwin_wayland that day.
It does reaper occasionality, especially where it does uses significant cpu
time just sitting around idling for some reason?

multiple packs available for download
Classification: Applications
   Product: systemsettings

  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_icons
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: vanr...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

When trying to install a new icon pack through system settings, by clicking on
Get New.., and finding a icon pack that i want (in this case Kora), clicking on
the "Install..." button opens a new window with multiple version of icons
available for download (green, grey, ...). When I click on "Install..." next to
one of those, the button closes the window and nothing happens.

This seems to affect all the icon packs which offer multiple version for
download.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open system settings Icons page.
2. Click on "Get New.." and find an icon pack with multiple version available
(ex. Kora)
3. Click "Install.." and choose one of the versions.
4. Window closes, nothing happens.

OBSERVED RESULT
After choosing a version and clicking on "Install..", window closes and nothing
happens, icon pack is not installed.

EXPECTED RESULT
After choosing version and clicking "Install...", window closes and icon pack
installs.

OR

1. open Wallpaper KCM
2, maximize the System Settings

-- Information about the crash:
When Kmail is configured with a lot of accounts (> 4), a lot of filters (>20)
and large mail dirs a manual check causes sometimes the crash of
akonadi_maildir_resource.
Restarting the akonadi_maildir_resource helps.

It seems there is a null pointer used (receiver=0x0) which is not checked:

I think this happens as race condition.

Thank you very much for the quick response. I just tested again and found
that I had set the whitelist for rescrobbled (the mpris scrobbler I am using)
for only
elisa. I needed to add amarok to the whitelist. When I did, it works fine.

So, there is an excellent solution to this issue, which is to use mpris
scrobbler.

If you someday have the time, then adding a plugin for listenbrainz would be
nice, or
if you want to simplify and get out of the scrobbling business, IMO mpris is
also
a good solution. It also handles last.fm.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Much appreciated.

I too have this problem with a NV96 card and plasma-systemmonitor.
This problem was always there from the time I installed plasma-systemmonitor
v.5.x in June to this day with v.6.0.4.
I believe it is related to this:
https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/nouveau/2014-May/017082.html

"Problem appear in shaders containing loops with conditional break when loop is
not unrolled by nouveau.
...
I think that artifacts appear in areas where is big difference in number of
iterations executed for pixel before breaking from loop."

If this is true, this behavior is really old.

Does this happen after your system suspends to ram? Have you configured
Preserve video memory after suspend for your nvidia card?
