[plasmashell] [Bug 490891] The KDE Plasma desktop does not remember manual positioning of desktop icons
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=490891 --- Comment #1 from René Paw Christensen --- It just happened again, and this time my icons was locked ! I turned off my monitor and went to bed. When I got up, I turned on my monitor and the icons was moved as if I selected: * Locked (uncheck because they are still locked, yeah really) * Folders first (is always set) * Top to bottom (is always set) * Left (is always set) * Sort by name (is still set to Unsorted) So now I have to UNLOCK my icons, move them back, and don't bother to lock them again. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 490891] New: The KDE Plasma desktop does not remember manual positioning of desktop icons
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=490891 Bug ID: 490891 Summary: The KDE Plasma desktop does not remember manual positioning of desktop icons Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 6.1.3 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Folder Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: r...@rpc-scandinavia.dk CC: h...@kde.org Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY The KDE Plasma desktop does not remember manual positioning of desktop icons. I have had this problem with Plasma 5 and it still occures with Plasma 6. KDE Plasma 6 is almost perfect, runs really well. I have only two issues - this icon problem and the fact that Wayland don't support window positioning so I again can use the window rules to position my windows and dialogboxes where I want them. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Manually position your desktop icons 2. Use your computer, or reboot your computer, or turn the monitor off OBSERVED RESULT My computer always runs, the icon repositioning sometimes occures when I turn off the monitor and go to bed, the next day I turn on the monitor and the icons have been repositioned. Other times it occures when I log on again after either reboot or logoff. EXPECTED RESULT I expect that manually positioned icons STAY at their position in the grid, regardless of what happens. New icons can be placed as configured in "Arrange" and "Align", as it is working today. When a icon is outside the screen bounds, the icon can be moved into view as if it was a new icon - or better yet, a new configuration could be added with options like "Scroll desktop", "Move icon", "Do nothing". A new feature could be a "Lock position" toggleble option on each desktop icon, so you can lock a icon on another monitor even when that monitor is turned off. There should also be a menu option (function) like "Move hidden locked icons into view". NOTES Desktop icon positions are stored in the configuration file "$HOME/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc" Other bug reports can be opened with "https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=##; SIMILAR/RELATED BUG REPORTS Here is a compiled list of similar, perhaps related, bug reports, regarding desktop icon positioning. 482875 6 ? This results in a unresponsive window. The solution is to set a size limit, on how big ".desktop" files Dolphin should process. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a folder and copy a big file to it (150 MB) 2. Rename the file to ".desktop" or ".Desktop" extension 3. Browse the folder in Dolphin OBSERVED RESULT The window does not respond, the CPU goes high. I expect that Dolphin tries to process the big file, because it thinks it is a text ".desktop" file. [KScreen] [Bug 460341] On X11, external monitor disabled, setting of external monitor is not remembered
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460341 René Fritz changed: What|Removed |Added CC||rf-...@colorcube.de --- Comment #62 from René Fritz --- I have a laptop with Nvidia graphics and driver version 510 (tried 515 and 520). KDE Neon 22.04 I use external monitors connected with HDMI and USB-C (which is display port?) both in 4k. Hotplug worked well but not always flawless in the past. Lately only HDMI Monitor gets enabled on hotplug but not the one over USB-C. This behavior seems to be the same which many described here. I can enable the USB-C monitor using kcm_kscreen but it gets disabled immediately. Can't tell which updated caused it. It was before 22.04 was available I thin. My workaround - plug in the USB-C Monitor, it will not be enabled - enable the USB-C Monitor using nvidia-settings - plug in the HDMI Monitor - the monitor layout configured with kcm_kscreen will be restored To me it seems not the monitor layout is the problem but enabling a display port monitor - maybe specific to nvidia? I don't think the it's the nvidia driver because I'm pretty shure I used v 510 already when it still worked. Slightly different and maybe not related: I have another setup with two 4k daisy chained USB-C monitors. I had a problem there that sometimes one monitor got not enabled and enabling him manually using kcm_kscreen didn't work (nothing happens). Usually I tried plugin multiple times until it worked. This behavior got much more worse with recent update, which means it doesn't work 95% of the time. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kmymoney] [Bug 459006] Investment activity type 'Remove' is replaced by 'Add' in CSV import

[kmymoney] [Bug 459006] New: Investment activity type 'Remove' is replaced by 'Add' in CSV import
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459006 Bug ID: 459006 Summary: Investment activity type 'Remove' is replaced by 'Add' in CSV import Product: kmymoney Version: 5.1.3 Platform: openSUSE RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: importer Assignee: kmymoney-de...@kde.org Reporter: r.clu...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** Hi everybody, I'm using KMyMoney (V 5.1.3) under Opensuse Tumbleweed (20220908 x86_64) with Gnome 42.2 (with Wayland). I created a CSV file for importing investments with different activity types (Buy, Sell, Dividend, Add and Remove). Buy, Sell, Dividend, Add activity types work well and create the corresponding records in the KMM empty created investment account. The rows containing Remove for removing securities after they have been created (with dates in the correct order) operate as Add activity type. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. The CSV file: Type de compte :Placement,,, ,,, Date,Titre,Action/type,Montant,Quantité,Cours,Intérêts,Commissions,Compte,Note,État,Symbole 2022-10-10,AMUNDI CRDT Euro P,Buy,"-2812,26","18,2","154,69",,,TitreTest (Courtage),,,FR0010775429 2022-10-10,AMUNDI CRDT Euro P,Buy,"-2534,94","0,3","9749,77",,,TitreTest (Courtage),,,FR0010775429 2022-10-10,BNP Paribas,Buy,"-417,67","4,3","97,36",,,TitreTest (Courtage),,,FR0011362094 2022-10-10,SG MONE PLUS P - FR0011362094,Buy,"-299,67","4,5","66,89",,,TitreTest (Courtage),,,FR131104 2022-10-11,AMUNDI CRDT Euro P,ReinvDiv,"5,45","18,2","0,3","-5,45",,TitreTest (Courtage),,,FR0010775429 2022-10-11,BNP Paribas,Sell,"223,11","3,3",67,,,TitreTest (Courtage),,,FR0011362094 2022-10-12,BNP Paribas,DivX,10,0,0,-10,,TitreTest (Courtage),,,FR0011362094 2022-10-15,SG MONE PLUS P - FR0011362094,Shrsin,0,5,0,,,TitreTest (Courtage),,,FR131104 2022-10-16,SG MONE PLUS P - FR0011362094,Remove,0,2,0,,,TitreTest (Courtage),,,FR131104 2022-10-10,AMUNDI CRDT Euro P,Remove,0,3,0,,,TitreTest (Courtage),,,FR0010775429 2. [kde] [Bug 444192] New: Crash when DisplayPort monitor connected
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=444192 Bug ID: 444192 Summary: Crash when DisplayPort monitor connected Product: kde Version: unspecified Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org Reporter: rser...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I just bought a Displayport Samsung monitor and when connecting it through USB-C and DisplayLink on my Ubuntu 21.04 a really weird behavior happens. The moment I connect the monitor KDE applications start to randomly crash and from then they cannot be started anymore. Looking at the logs I can repeatedly (around 3 million times!!) see the message: [warn] epoll_wait: Bad file descriptor I'm not able to see any other relevant log message. The most strange issue is that if I disconnect the monitor or if I connect it through regular HDMI the problem instantly disappears. I don't really know if it's a plasma or displaylink bug. The problem does not happen with other non plasma applications (chrome, firefox...) I filed a bug on DisplayLink already without answer yet: https://www.displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?t=67936 Any hint what can be wrong? No STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Connect the monitor through displayport 2. continue working as usual 3. observe crashes kontact, dolphin, systemsettings, ... EXPECTED RESULT No crashes and regular workflow SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.23 (but the behavior is the same in 5.21 and 5.22 My KUbuntu is 21.10 (but before upgrading, the problem was present in 21.04) KDE Frameworks Version: 5.87, but with 5.86 was the same Qt Version: 5.15.2 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kdeconnect] [Bug 410360] Add a "soft upair" (disconnect) option to the interface and put a warning on the permanent unpair action.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410360 René changed: What|Removed |Added Version|1.10|1.4 CC||r...@comunica2.net --- Comment #1 from René --- I don't want to change the title but propose you don't call it "soft unpair". I think disconnect is sufficient. I agree that this feature is needed but for other reasons. What about the use of kdeconnect in a small office or household?: 1. members want to quickly share among them a file without setting up a network share. 2. members don't want to be permanently connected to avoid clipboard paste conflicts 3. privacy issues in Android Concept of clipboard paste conflict can be described as follows. User A and B are paired and share the clipboard. Both are editing a document and do a lot of corrections using copy/cut and paste. User A copies a text and without knowing user B does the same right after. Then user A pastes not his own copy but that of user B and is confused. The privacy issue in Android I discovered while using the virtual keyboard. Just above the virtual keyboard there is an area that shows a button of recently cut/copies text from the clipbaord that allows you to paste it by tapping it. It shows a fragment of the text and it was constantly changing while I was answering a chat message. I discovered they were not the usual suggestions while you enter your text but it was copied text of my wife while she was editing on her paired device In this aspect I think that kdeconnect counts too much on individual use and it does not on use in households or small office teams. There should at least be an easy disconnect option and auto-connect should be optional per device. That way you can minimally distinguish between your own devices and that of others and maintain some respect and privacy. Like @leftcrane explains, unpair is too drastic and something like (manual) connect and disconnect would be desirable. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=429453 René changed: What|Removed |Added CC||r...@comunica2.net --- Comment #3 from René --- The question is why Bookmarks is hidden and Places has its own Panel. Apparently the team responsible is chosing simplicity over functionality. In Bookmarks you can organise in a folder hierarchy, in Places not. Bookmarks aim at what you could call power users that need losts of shortcuts that are organised according to task or location. Do you want to punish power users? In the filemanager profile of Konquerer both "Places" and bookmarks had their own Panel. [plasmashell] [Bug 430371] New: ALT Tab change tag does no longer work while dragging selected string
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430371 Bug ID: 430371 Summary: ALT Tab change tag does no longer work while dragging selected string Product: plasmashell Version: 5.18.5 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Reporter: r...@comunica2.net CC: plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY This seems like a functionality regression. Previously I could select a text, start dragging it, then with ALT Tab change to another applicaton window and there drop the string in that window. I don't see the point why I should always contaminate the clipboard with these routine operations. Work around is slow and needs more coordination and finding the right one, namely to drag the string to the desired task tab in the task manager which will make it change the focus there. When that still works, why not ALT Tab like before? STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Select text string in task A 2. Start dragging while changing to previous task using the ALT + Tab key combination. OBSERVED RESULT ALT Tab will no longer change to previous task during a drag operation. EXPECTED RESULT ALT Tab will also change task while doing a drag operation. [kmymoney] [Bug 416080] New: Kmymoney: distinction between date of record and date of movement
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=416080 Bug ID: 416080 Summary: Kmymoney: distinction between date of record and date of movement Product: kmymoney Version: 5.0.7 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: database Assignee: kmymoney-de...@kde.org Reporter: r.clu...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Hello everybody, I am not sure to address the correct list. I would like to a feature wish about Kmymoney and not a bug. The issue concerns the Reconciliation process. I very frequently meet a difficulty in this process when the date of a record is very close to the initial date of a a reconciliation period provided by my bank. Account records are registered with their date of emission (the date of the signature of a check, or the date when a transfer is made). My account is debited later, few days later for transfer or credit card payment, and very often two or three weeks later for checks. When I reconciliate a check payment, I have to go backward in my account to change the date and record the emission date in the record note. There is a loss of information unless printing the final listing of the reconciliation of the previous period. The reconciliation list provided by banks include two fields: * Emission Date, which the date of the check emission, the date of the credit card payment, or the date of the transfer request, and * Value Date (Date de Valeur in French), which is the date when the bank account is debited or credited. It would be interesting that such a second field is added to the account file, filled in by default with the first field and displayed in color(red for example) when the corresponding record is not yet reconciliated, and reset in a standard color when it is reconciliated. This issue is related for Kmymoney versions for both Debian 10, and Fedora 31. If this is not the right forum, please redirect me to the right one. Many thanks for your attention. [kmail2] [Bug 373368] Opening new message very slow and freezes KMail for several second each
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373368 --- Comment #5 from René Krell <renda.kr...@gmail.com> --- Created attachment 102662 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=102662=edit Compressed output of valgrind --tool=callgrind --instr-atstart=no plasmashell for a few minutes after starting callgrind_control -i o Added the compressed output of 'valgrind --tool=callgrind --instr-atstart=no plasmashell' for a few minutes after starting 'callgrind_control -i o'. I started callgrind_control when kmail started to be unresponsive, including the rest of the plasmashell. I'm not able to interpret the output shown in kcachegrind. Can someone look at this, please? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kmail2] [Bug 373368] Opening new message very slow and freezes KMail for several second each
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373368 --- Comment #4 from René Krell <renda.kr...@gmail.com> --- I'm currently keeping plasmashell running in valgrind according to this comment: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=289=121533=7ab1403c4fedc79c23d4cadac1e09fd3=45#p343228 and waiting for plasmashell to fall into the high CPU load again, which is apparently the reason for the unresponsiveness of KMail. As soon as this will be the case I try to send some kcachegrind dump from it to get this issue to the right direction. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kmail2] [Bug 373368] Opening new message very slow and freezes KMail for several second each
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373368 --- Comment #3 from René Krell <renda.kr...@gmail.com> --- Sorry, that was to fast. Baloo isn't the cause. I run into this problem again with deactivated File Search, but now I have plasmashell at high load: PID USER PR NIVIRTRESSHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 3392 rkrell20 0 0,255t 471020 187628 S 115,3 1,456 33:34.98 plasmashell There is no comparable process in this situation with such a high CPU load. Now even restarting KMail doesn't help. Navigating between messages is almost unresponsive in both accounts, IMAP and Local Folders. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kmail2] [Bug 373368] Opening new message very slow and freezes KMail for several second each
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373368 --- Comment #2 from René Krell <renda.kr...@gmail.com> --- The only process I saw with a high load during reproducing the problem was the baloo_file_extractor. After that I switched off Search -> File Search -> [ ] Enable File Search. Deactivating the Baloo File Extractor might be way how to avoid the issue reported here, I'll watch this several days. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kmail2] [Bug 373368] Opening new message very slow and freezes KMail for several second each
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373368 --- Comment #1 from René Krell <renda.kr...@gmail.com> --- Important addition: This problem doesn't happen right after system start, but some time after using KMail (after several seconds, minutes or even hours). At the moment I can't see it, but when it happens the notebook's fan is running on higher speed, probably due to a high CPU load. As soon as the problem occurs, KMail doesn't recover from it, so the high load remains instant until the next system restart. I nobody can reproduce this, please give me some hints what outputs to generate and provide, and what to do else to help analyzing. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kmail2] [Bug 373368] New: Opening new message very slow and freezes KMail for several second each
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373368 Bug ID: 373368 Summary: Opening new message very slow and freezes KMail for several second each Product: kmail2 Version: Git (master) Platform: openSUSE RPMs OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: message list Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org Reporter: renda.kr...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- KMail 5.3.3 (QtWebEngine), OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, Linux (x86_64) release 4.8.12-1-default: Kmail is very slow when navigating between messages in the message list. I have two accounts - an IMAP account (Activated Download all messages for offline use) and a Local Folders account. To be sure this is no migration problem from KDE 4 I stopped KMail and Akonadi and removed the following folders and files: ~/.local/share/akonadi ~/.config/akonadi ~/.kde4/share/config/akonadi* After that I restarted Akonadi and resynchronized the account again. Thus, this should be a clean state. When having synchronized all messages after the above cleanup action the problem reoccurs again: I click on several messages in the message list, marking a new message in the message list freezes KMail for several seconds before the new message is shown in the message window. This behavior happened from my point of view since the QtWebEngine has been introduced as message viewer. Because I've read about multi-threading problems of Nouveau, I tried also the native NVidia driver, no change so far. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
