I've also been requesting this option to no avail.
Dolphin needs to have Genre so that we can select multiple files and move them
to another directory.

Last time I got a response saying it already has support but they don't seem to
understand that we need metatadata to also show on the VIEW PANEL.

Metadata info appears on the Information Panel but it's of no use when we want
to use Dolphin to organize and not just hover on files to see their respected
metadata info.

Artist, Album, Duration, and Track but no Genre for Pain Panel's View Mode

Dolphin lacks the option of Genre in Additional Data.
I've taken screenshots so that you can understand my point.

*I looked at Dolphin's Source Code and tried to hack it on my own but I'm still
in the process of learning._.

Metatadata appears on the Information Panel and it is of great help,
unfortunately we need to hover over the files in order to view extended info,
which doesn't help a lot when organizing/moving files by genre.

It would be helpful having genre in the Main Panel also known as View Panel so
that we can select multiple files with same genre. Select them and move them
and move them to another directory.

You should upload a video tutorial on how to change Genre from Source Code. If
I can do Dolphin then I could do tweak other Free Source Apps. Reading can
sometimes be confusing because simple things as renaming dependencies, learning
other things, and using new software is hard to understand when I'm just a DIY
learner.

Ever since Kubuntu-12 I wanted to change this little nuisance. I never had the
time, but now I think watching videos has helped me a lot.

By default we get: "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" as an example
when
opening KfontViewer.

It would be much better if KfontViewer either saved last input or allow us to
save several examples so that we don't have to type words we want every single
time.

This would be extremely helpful when looking for certain letters that we want
to see how
they look on different font-themes.

A major example is when trying to choose the best font that had a "real
difference"
when setting apart uppercase/lowercase letters and numbers like:
Ii Ll Ff Kk 0Oo

Many fonts straight up use the same fashion style for uppercase I and lowercase
l, or
uppercase O is the same as number 0

Tellico only uses blue font color for URL entries and can not be changed via

This is necessary on dark themes where the blue fonts are too dark and make it

[QtCurve] [Bug 429201] New: Some themes make Kup-Backup and Falkon crash or not properly work.

2020-11-16 Thread Xeno Idaltu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=429201

Bug ID: 429201
Summary: Some themes make Kup-Backup and Falkon crash or not
properly work.
   Product: QtCurve
   Version: 1.9
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: qt5
  Assignee: yyc1...@gmail.com
  Reporter: xenoida...@gmail.com
CC: h...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

I currently use a theme I found on OpenDesktop.org and works fine on all apps
but two:

1) Falkon: The tabs and overall experience is not properly integrated.
2) Kup-Backup: It crashes when opened.

Things I tried to solve this issue:
1) Installed the latest kernel and problems persisted.
2) Tried other widget styles and finally noticed the problem were not the apps
but probably QTCurve because Falkon and Kup-Backup worked without problems.
3) Tried other QT-Curve themes. Some worked others didn't.
4) I thoerised it had to do with some themes using Images as background, but
this has nothing to do with it.

I still haven't figured what exactly is making some themes crash. Maybe I need
to disable/enable something. Or maybe it has too many gradients or something.

I really what to keep using this theme. I'd appreciate if someone were to help
me out know what's going on.

UPDATE===

The problem isn't Kup but the QTCurve theme I'm currently using.
Kup works fine without any problems on any widget style and on most QT-Curve
themes.

[QtCurve] [Bug 429201] Some themes make Kup-Backup and Falkon crash or not properly work.

2020-11-17 Thread Xeno Idaltu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=429201

I used a Live ISO of Kubuntu 20.04 LTS, it comes with the following:

KDE Plasma 5.18.4
KDE Frameworks 5.68.0
Qt 5.12.8
Linux Kernel 5.4.0-26-generic

I installed QT-Curve and used my favorite theme on it. These were the results:

1) Falkon Browser:
The integration is now flawless, controls are now responsive and everything
seemed to work as it should.
Couldn't test it further because QT5-WebEngine kept crashing. It crashes when
using Nouveau Drivers. This problem is solved by installing Nvidia Propietary
drivers.

2) Kup-Backup:
It also kept crashing when using my QT-Curve theme but not the default QT-Curve
theme. Nothing changed.

==
Synopsis:
Based on this I can say that upgrading to newer KDE-QT versions will solve the
issue with Falkon but not Kup-Backup.
I already compared six QT-Curve themes. Three that work and three that don't
and didn't see any major difference but the different use of gradients. Maybe
it has to do with how much gradient we are using or something..

It would be helpful if you could put update the issue regarding Nouveau and
QT5-WebEngine on Falkon's website.
This will certainly help and save time to not so technical users.
I spent hours trying to figure out configurations and then finally read
online the issue regarding QT5-WebEngine.

I have another question. Smoothscrool using the mouse doesn't work on
Debian 10 but it does work on Kubuntu. I checked everything and the only
differences are the Kernels and QT Versions.

Why can't smoothscrooll and bookmark previews work on Debian?

Is this because Kubuntu is using Kernel 5.0 or because Kubuntu is using KDE
5.12 LTS?

It's been +5 years since KDE5 Plasma was released and we still don't have X11
Cursor Thumbnails. Not everyone would care about this issue but the thumbnails
come very handy when designing cursors or to learn what image does what
according to the title on each .xmc file.

For now I use an alternative, but the alternative makes .xmc files turn into
.png previews, thus making the icons blurry.

[plasmashell] [Bug 418135] New: Not all QT5/QT4 based apps show the same Pop-Up Window when opening files.

2020-02-24 Thread Xeno Idaltu

Bug ID: 418135
Summary: Not all QT5/QT4 based apps show the same Pop-Up Window
when opening files.
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.14.5
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: xenoida...@gmail.com

  Target Milestone: 1.0

I don't know how exactly it works but I've noticed that there are three
different window screens can appear when opening a file from a QT based app.
I'm talking about the small window that pops out when we want to open a file
from a specific program.
On most programs, we go to the File Tab on the upper Menu Bar and then click on
Open File.
There are three types of windows that will show up depending on the program
currently using.

1) Best Pop-Up Window:
This window allows us to use the Show Aside Preview, View Hidden Files, and the
Shortcut Paths are customizable within the window. If we Add An Entry on
Dolphin, it will appear on all QT-based programs using this particular window
style. Very handy.
##This window will open when using: Gwenview, KolourPaint, Kwrite, VLC, and
Krita.

 2) QT5 Pop-Up Window:
This window style doesn't allow us to use Show Aside Preview, show hidden
files, and we can't change the Shortcut Paths. I don't know exactly how this
window decided to use some of my manually made directories as shortcut paths.
##This window will open when using: Kvantum, Kid3, LMMS 1.2

3) QT4 Pop-Up Window:
This window behaves exactly the same as the previous one only that this is for
QT4 based apps.
##This window will open when using: PuddleTag, LMMS 1.1

UPDATE#
After browsing around i found out that I can edit path entries for QT5 Pop-Up
windows by editing file QtProject.conf
/home/USER/.config/QtProject.conf
This will only work for QT5 apps but not for QT4 apps. I've looked around and I
don't see any file. I looked inside PuddleTag and nothing.

Also, this problem happens in Kubuntu 18.04 and Debian 10. On OpenSuse,
Puddletag uses what I call Best Pop-Up Window. I don't know if OpenSuse
developers fixed this issue or if this something that was never truly fixed on
Debian/Ubuntu.

It looks like the "pop-up window" I am referring to is called KDialog. Is there
a way to make a QT4 application use KDialog instead of the Basic QT4-OpenFile
Dialog?

PuddleTag, a QT4 App, ceased maintenance on 2016 yet OpenSuse-KDE makes
PuddleTag use KDialog instead.

I need this feature because I have files on an external drive and when using
QT4 apps I have to click all the way to my desired path. Sometimes 10 clicks
per file and doing it on a regular basis is time consuming and inefficient.

If I'm using a color scheme of my choice and then accidentally click on Use KDE

using. I tried this on all preinstalled color schemes and they all turned into
my default KDE Color Scheme. This can be annoying when testing color schemes.

Update:

I finally made it work!

I used the Right-Alt key instead. If we choose Any Alt or Left-Alt key it will
interfere with Global Shortcuts because those shortcuts use Left Alt by
default.

Recommended Solution:
1) Update the Shortcuts KCM Module section by being more specific as to which
Alt, Ctrl, Shift keys are being used.

2) Update the Keyboard System Settings by letting users know that shortcuts
used for the keyboard will interfere with Global Shortcuts.
# (ex) Warning: Using Left Alt Key as a 3rd Level Shortcut will make shortcuts
using Left Alt Key in Global Shortcuts unusable. ((or something like that))

3) Or the issue can be fixed by making us use Left Alt Key without any side
effect for Global Shortcuts.

After a fresh install, I tried to run Falkon with no success. It crashes on
start. Sometimes it actually starts but when it does, if I click the default
bookmark titled Falkon Wiki, it crashes and/or freezes the entire desktop.
Falkon froze the entire desktop twice. I couldn't even use a TTY Terminal.

The user interface is dfferent than Firefox. All I see is Update Subscriptions.
This issue is also present on OpenSuse 15.1, but unlike Kubuntu, on OpenSuse
the ad stays there.

tried to run it using Netrunner 19.08, which uses Debian Buster repos.

I couldn't move the mouse nor the shortcut to bring a TTY Terminal. Also, I
used Free Drivers on both occasions.

When we want to test Left and Right audio we get a new window on top of the one
currently in use. The icon titled "audio-speakers-symbolic" must be shown but
it doesn't. It only appears if it's and SVG file, but even then it will not
show color, the icon will show up using the color used in texts.
This also happens for icon titled "window-close", icon will only show a shadow.
Fox example I use a PNG based icon theme that has a circle and an X inside it.
This PNG icon will only appear after we click to to close window, otherwise it
only shows a circle/shadow.

Looks like that new window is SVG centric because before this new way of
"popping windows", I never had problems with icons showing up as shadows..

[krename] [Bug 467224] New: Kservices needs option to only open directories and not list all files on them

It would be very helpful having the option to open only directories without
having Krename list all the files inside them. This is helpful when wanting to
batch rename directories by just highlighting them via Dolphin File Manager.

Currently the only two options are not useful because they open files we don't
want.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. I had 12 directories with letters 03- at the front. My goal was to open them
via Dolphin and just change 03- for 04-
2. Currently we need to open Krename as an app and enable Add Folder Names
Only"
3. This is time consuming as it requires extra steps like browsing the desired
the path

We now have have KsysGuard and the new program call System Monitor. For some
reason KsysGuard no longer gives output of available programs currently in use.

The only way to kill a program is by listing all processes.

I use a custom QT-Curve theme and noticed this right away because I personally
prefer KsysGuard for integrating with my QT-Curve theme.
System Monitor on the other hand shows a GUI that resembles default Breeze.

Since both apps do the same, I just use KsysGuard and some plugins.

To enable the output in this section we need to to enable Baloo so that it can

Information does appear on the Information Panel section but this is not usable

We also need to make sure to tick "Also Index File Content" on SystemSettings
After the database has been purged, we need to enable Baloo again:

$ balooctl enable

I think it would be a lot helpful if Baloo had Tooltips explaining how Baloo

I used command "mediainfo" and got same results. The reason Grub2's .mod files
are labeled as Amiga is because the person who made the Breeze Icon theme
probably left it like that.

If we remove the .mod and .ko extensions of Grub2 and Linux Kernel Modules then
they are automatically labeled as Object Files.

[Breeze] [Bug 439927] New: Breeze Cursor won't use Scroll icon when pressed

  Target Milestone: ---

On Firefox we enable Smooth Scroll. We press the middle button of our mouse, a
circular icon shows up letting us know we can now scroll around.
-
Dolphin File Manager lacks this feature so I made a Xorg Configuration.

1) First I installed Xinput from Debian repos

2) I created file:
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf

3) Inside the file I used this:
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "libinput pointer catchall"
MatchIsPointer "on"
MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
Option "ScrollMethod" "button"
Driver "libinput"
EndSection

=
Everything works with the exception of the icon that shows up everytime we
press the middle button. This icon no longer shows up on Firefox, Chromium,
Falkon, etc.

This has led me to believe that we must configure the Breeze Cursor Theme.

Plasma's Breeze Cursor theme has an icon labeled "all-scroll" that should show
up when pressing the middle button, maybe we need to use another word or a set
of numbers.

I theorize this because I've seen this behavior with Oxygen Cursor Themes where
"size_bdiag" and "size_fdiag" revert back to Plasma's default Breeze Cursor
"size_bdiag" and "size_fdiag". This happens because Oxygen Cursor Themes were
made for KDE4 and lack certain name tagging.
This is fixed by adding "ne_resize", "sw_resize", "nw_resize", "se_resize" to
"size_bdiag" and "size_fdiag".

Years ago when I was learning about this issue I came accross a Github page
that had all possible names/numbers of Xcursor themes.

Dolphin on KDE5 lacks Xcursor previews. Xcursor-Viewer needs to be installed to
view Cursor themes.

Thank you Aldrin.

I like the way I navigate on Dolphin now, however there are two issues.

1) Firefox, Falkon, Chromium, etc have now lost the "image/icon" that shows up
under our cursor when we press/hold the middle button.

I think we should edit Breeze Cursor themes to make the "all-scroll" image/icon
show up instead. The tricky part is what name/numbers to use. Years ago, I saw
a GitHub page with all possible names/numbers to use but currently don't have
enough time to search around the web.

XCursor previews have been lost on Dolphin when it was ported to QT5 because of
security problems.

A great way to overcome this issue is by using XCursor-Viewer made by Ivan
Romanov. The app is simple and very helpful to know how Cursor Theming is
organized. I think it would be great if KDE forked a version of it, either as a
KCM-Module, Dolphin Plug-In, or a stand alone app.
