I have the same problem on Dell 7210 2-in-1 tablet. Disconnecting the tablet's
main keyboard switches the device to Touch mode even if an external keyboard
and mouse are connected. Also there does not seem to be an easy way to turn the
Touch mode on and off manually except for directly in the system settings.

I'm using a keyboard and a mouse that share a wireless USB adapter.

I'm getting this error with updated KDE Neon.
Seems like it happens after waking up from suspend and/or changing network
(haven't tested this properly yet).
Restarting Kontact resolves this problem until next suspend+wakeup.
I'm connecting to the Internet by WiFi - connection itself works OK, only
Akregator (and KMail? Whole Kontact?) have issues.

I'm getting the repair system popup as well, after failed update (/boot ran out
of space while installing new kernel).
Clicking on "Repair system" just asks for admin password, nothing happens
after.
Since the failed update I've also tried "sudo dpkg --configure -a", installed a
couple of updates successfully, including kernel. The popup still appears on
every startup.
Is there at least a way to get rid of it manually?

The apply button behaves in this way:
1. - 5. The same
6. Click on the widget to open it's pop-up (widget is in tray). Changes are
already applied.
7. Click on another section on the left side: apply/discard dialog shows up.

I'm struggling to build kirigami-gallery for Android. Desktop build works fine,
but Android build ends with error:

By not providing "FindKF5Kirigami2.cmake" in CMAKE_MODULE_PATH this project

Yes, kirigami2-dev package is installed and the "missing" file is in
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/KF5Kirigami2/KF5Kirigami2Config.cmake
Setting KF5Kirigami2_DIR env variable or appending CMAKE_PREFIX_PATH doesn't
seem to work. Sorry if this is a trivial CMake issue, I've been using qmake so
far.

[neon] [Bug 430952] New: ECM Android.cmake fails at SORT type NATURAL

2020-12-29 Thread wincak

Bug ID: 430952
Summary: ECM Android.cmake fails at SORT type NATURAL
   Product: neon
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Packages User Edition
  Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: win...@seznam.cz
CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
ECM (extra-cmake-modules) Android.cmake uses SORT type NATURAL, that is not
available in system cmake version. According to cmake manual this type of
sorting is available in cmake >= 3.18, while current system cmake is 3.16.3.
The installed version of Android.cmake (from package extra-cmake-modules
5.77.0-0xneon+20.04+focal+build12) claims that required cmake version is 3.7.
This has been corrected upstream with commit:
3f466f67e15bb285b7041a0b6b85d72ffb98e059.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install system cmake and extra-cmake-modules
2. Try to build https://github.com/KDE/kirigami-gallery for Android

OBSERVED RESULT
Build fails with error:
CMake Error at /usr/share/ECM/toolchain/Android.cmake:145 (list):
list sub-command SORT value "NATURAL" for option "COMPARE" is invalid.

EXPECTED RESULT
Build completes without error.

[kinfocenter] [Bug 387366] Energy consumption statistics not available

2020-12-20 Thread wincak
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387366

Original reporter here.
Please try changing the data range to the longest "Last 7 days" and refresh.
Also try unplugging the power supply and wait for some time. The refresh again.
In my case the graphs always appear.

I believe the problem is that the system (upower?) only logs battery charge
level changes. Then when you ask the system for data for a certain time
interval, it only gives you data if there was any change in that interval. For
example if you have laptop charger plugged in permanently and then try to view
history for the last hour, there is no change, thus no reported data and the
"This type of history is currently not available for this device"
message is displayed.

As for charge percentage, judging by the current behaviour, only data points
returned by the system for the displayed time interval are used to plot the
chart (see attached pic). This is not a correct behaviour. At all times the
current charge should be included as well and used at least with the latest
stored data point in history to plot a line. The last recorded data point
should be looked up even if it's outside of the currently displayed time
interval.

This logic might be applied even to energy consumption chart.

[plasmashell] [Bug 360478] Desktop widgets and Folder View icons do not remember their sizes and positions on a per-resolution basis

2020-12-05 Thread wincak

Isn't it strange that even though bugs in KDE are fixed left and right and the
overall KDE experience has improved dramatically over the last couple of years,
support for using multiple monitors (manifested by resolution changes in this
case) is still in a bad shape and even basic functionality sometimes doesn't
work? Is it possible that KDE devs only work with one monitor at all times?
Maybe we should chip in and get them a second one.

(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #82)
> No, I don't think anyone has begun work on this yet.
Still no progress? This has clearly been bugging people for years. Is there a
way to help things move forward? This is not a job for a mere passerby to do,
but I would be happy to buy someone a beer or two to fix this.

[plasmashell] [Bug 429542] New: Media player applet shows even applications that don't play media

2020-11-23 Thread wincak
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=429542

Bug ID: 429542
Summary: Media player applet shows even applications that don't
play media
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Media Player
  Assignee: k...@privat.broulik.de
  Reporter: win...@seznam.cz
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
The Media player applet shows multimedia controls for applications that are not
media players. In my case Element, an instant messenger client. Since the
client is based on Electron and uses notification sounds, I suspect that the
Media player applet notices this and reacts.
Media player applet then shows playback as paused. Clicking on it's buttons
(back, pause/play, forward) doesn't do anything.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start up KDE, launch Element
2. Receive a message notification in Element

OBSERVED RESULT
Media player applet shows up in system tray and stays there as long as Element
runs.

EXPECTED RESULT
Media player applet doesn't do anything and stays hidden.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i7-3520M CPU @ 2.90GHz
Memory: 7,5 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: Mesa DRI Intel® HD Graphics 4000

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This has been happening for a long time now, it's not specific to this KDE
version.
While this could be considered a bug of the Element application, a general
white/blacklist of applications that the Media player plugin interacts with
might be a good way to solve this.

on tray battery icon or by opening the Energy information page in kinfocenter
(and closing it).

Yes, I still see this on current Neon - with the same search paths as in the
original report - which was also Neon.
(However battery statistics work for me now as expected, so that was probably
an unrelated issue.)

Bug still exists for latest KDE Neon 5.16 with KTorrent 5.1.2

There doesn't seem to be much going on in KTorrent repository except for
various build-related fixes and minor changes in the last year or so.

[akregator] [Bug 394525] New: Adblock filters don't work

2018-05-21 Thread wincak
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=394525

Bug ID: 394525
   Summary: Adblock filters don't work
   Product: akregator
   Version: 5.8.1
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: internal browser
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: win...@seznam.cz
  Target Milestone: ---

Adblocking rules don't seem to be blocking anything.
Ads are still shown. Adding blocklists or manually adding block rules don't
hide anything.

Reproducibility: Always

How to reproduce
1) Add a feed to Akregator (for example
http://feeds.arstechnica.com/arstechnica/index/)
2) Click on random article and open it in a new tab
3) Ads are visible
4) Enable Adblock plugin in Webengine plugins configuration and check "Hide
filtered elements"
5) Add blocklists (for example EasyList)
6) Restart Akregator
7) Ads are still visible
8) Add manual filter using address of one of the ads (for example
https://track.adform.net/*)
9) Restart Akregator
10) Ads are still visible

This happens with other sites as well.

After I reported this issue it fixed itself eventually and sending email
started working again without my direct intervention.
For some time I was unable to reproduce the issue until it reappeared after

I believe the upgrade process somehow breaks communication between KMail and
Akonadi components and reboot fixes it.

Sending emails using SMTP stopped working by itself. Messages get stuck in
outbox and automated repeated attempts to send them end with message:

Failed to transport message. Network unreachable

I'm using unenctypted connection to smtp.seznam.cz port 25, PLAIN
authentication. This configuration used to work until recently and is still
listed in server's help as a viable configuration.

Receiving emails works OK just like in:

Since kmail doesn't seem to provide any additional debug logs I tried to use
Akonadi console but couldn't figure out how to get anything useful out of it
either.

[kinfocenter] [Bug 355460] Make Information text in "About System" Kcm module selectable

2018-02-19 Thread wincak
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=355460

--- Comment #6 from wincak <win...@seznam.cz> ---
Turns out this is not a trivial thing to achieve because the information is
displayed using several QLabels in a grid layout and you cannot select text
across more QLabels.
Simply printing all the info newline-separated in a single QLabel (like in
KAboutApplicationDialog) gets the selection to work, but you can't get such
nice centered alignment.
Using a QTableWidget also doesn't look right - different background colour,
etc.
Creating a special "copy info" button really might be overkill, also you don't
always need all the info.
So is the right solution to somehow use a single QLabel with formatting tags
(like in the "USB Devices" page)?

--- Comment #17 from wincak <win...@seznam.cz> ---
This bug is still not fixed properly. It used to appear a few months ago, then
stopped and now it's back. Since I was fiddling with the configuration
recently, it's probably caused by that. I definitely don't remember configuring
kmail to open in separate window, though.
Since quitting KMail from tray (comment 11) resolves this for the current
session, is it possible that something (Akonadi?) launches KMail to display a
notification (new mail) instead of launching Kontact as a whole? That even
sounds reasonable.
Second idea: is the behaviour described in comment 9 correct? I believe in this
situation KMail should get embedded in Kontact even if it was already running
standalone before.

This issue seems to be simple to reproduce and makes the program pretty much
unusable, since it deletes your work without warning.

1) Open blogilo (even without any configuration)
2) Click in Visual Editor and try to type - nothing happens.
3) Switch to HTML Editor and try to type - text appears
4) Switch back to Visual Editor, text is there
5) Switch again to HTML Editor - everything is gone
6) Switch to Visual Editor - text briefly appears again, but then disappears.

Charge percentage graph is shown (see attachment - is the time axis missing on
purpose?), but Energy consumption still shows either "This type of history..."
message or sometimes an empty graph rectangle (can't manage to reproduce that
right now).

[plasmashell] [Bug 387841] Adding Nextcloud PIM calendar causes plasmashell freeze

2018-01-06 Thread wincak
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387841

--- Comment #2 from wincak <win...@seznam.cz> ---
It does! Setting start date for all TODOs makes adding the calendar possible.
Unset start date for a single TODO and it crashes again.

[plasmashell] [Bug 387841] New: Adding Nextcloud PIM calendar causes plasmashell freeze

2017-12-12 Thread wincak
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387841

Bug ID: 387841
Summary: Adding Nextcloud PIM calendar causes plasmashell
freeze
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.11.4
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Digital Clock
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: win...@seznam.cz
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Adding calendar synced with Nextcloud through PIM plugin in settings and
clicking Ok/Apply causes hard disk start to work hard and makes desktop freeze
completely in a few seconds with recovery only possible through hard reset (not
even console switch or ctrl+alt+backspace work).
After reboot the calendar in settings is not selected again, making it
impossible to use it.
Facebook calendar added through PIM plugin next to this one doesn't cause these
issues.
Using mentioned nextcloud calendar in Kontact works OK. The server is in my
local network and accessible. Synchronization works through CalDav.

Is there a way to debug this issue somehow?

Reproducibility: always (with current setup)

2017-12-11 Thread wincak

--- Comment #4 from wincak <win...@seznam.cz> ---
Any progress on the issue? Or a hint as to where to look for an error if it is
not caused by wrong library search path?
I can access some battery history data through UPower D-Bus, so there should be
at least something visible.
I tried building kinfocenter from source and debugging, but it's a bit tricky
since the program built this way doesn't contain all the components (e.g. QML
GUI) and calls system libraries instead of the built ones.
Just a note: it would be nice it there was some building/debugging guide, even
if it was short.

[kontact] [Bug 343558] Unread mail not showing in summary monitored folders

--- Comment #7 from wincak <win...@seznam.cz> ---
I might have stumbled upon this issue as well:

KMail window in Kontact was showing unread mail - unread emails in the list
were highlighted, the folder tree was showing unread emails in inbox (count of
messages in parentheses), Inbox->Folder properties->General had "Act on
new/unread mail in this folder" checked, I even got a new email notification in
the corner of the screen, but Kontact summary stubbornly said "No unread
messages in your monitored folders"

The problem was that in Settings->Configure Kontact->Summary->New messages the
Inbox folder was not checked.

Now I see that it is logical, but for and unsuspecting user (eg. me twenty
minutes ago) it might be hard to understand that it is necessary to check
several checkboxes to really be notified on new email in all the Kontact tabs.

Would it be possible to warn the user in Summary window that no folders are
being monitored and possibly place a button there that opens the appropriate
settings window?

I can confirm these issues are still a problem, just the plugin search path is
different on my Manjaro. Missing plugin seems to be breaking energy information
statistics - cannot confirm this 100%.

org.kde.kcoreaddons: Error loading plugin "kcm_energyinfo" "The shared library
was not found."
Plugin search paths are ("/usr/lib/qt/plugins", "/usr/bin")
The environment variable QT_PLUGIN_PATH might be not correctly set
...

The library kcm_energyinfo.so is actually in /usr/lib/qt/plugins/kcms. After
symlinking library to /usr/lib/qt/plugins the first error message disappears,
but I still can't see any statistics.

Qt 5.9.2 (built against 5.9.2)
