Interesting suggestion, haven't thought about a checkbox solution like that. 🤔
Ideally, There would still need to be an integer only option, since
Axis-Aligned vector shape borders are only rasterized sharply, when on integer
borders. At 0.5 intervals it would become blurry every other step, which is an
issue in the specific case of designing a GUI with sharp interface elements.

integers, because for example having a 3px thick rectangle, you'd want to put
it in the center of a pixel).

(Note that now bug 466582 is fixed, so it is possible to correct it afterwards
in gui).
