[kate] [Bug 417371] texlab LSP does not start on Windows
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417371 --- Comment #3 from Marcello Massaro --- So, I tested the store version (https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/Kate_Release_win64/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/kate-20.04.2-924-windows-msvc2019_64-cl-sideload.appx) and the "normal" one (https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/Kate_Release_win64/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/kate-20.04.2-924-windows-msvc2019_64-cl.exe). Unfortunately, both still tell that they could not start the language server. Before installing either, I made sure that texlab is really on my path (btw, I'm using texlab 2.2.0, which should be the latest stable version) and it was, at least from a random powershell instance. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 418499] API clarification SlaveBase::Copy permissions & umask for remote slaves
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=418499 --- Comment #2 from Harald Sitter --- If the umask strips +x we really shouldn't put it back in, beyond that I'm fairly unopinionated on the matter. That being said, if we want to have +x preserved we kind of need a better separation of desired permission outcomes: - implicit permissions (the new default for boundary crossing copies): copyjob passes in the existing permissions and the slave must "create" with these AND must honor umask - explicit permissions (the default for non-boundary crossing copies): copyjob passes in permission and the slave must call chmod to ensure those permissions are applied regardless of umask - default permissions: same as implicit but the permissions are some default value implicit permission would then preserve the entire mode in so far as the umask doesn't strip bits. API changes I am thinking of: ``` Mode { Auto, /* boundary-crossing: Implicit; !boundary-crossing: Explicit */ Implicit, /* honor umask */ Explicit, /* override umask */ Default /* 644 */ } CopyJob::setPermissionMode(Mode) deprecated CopyJob::setDefaultPermissions(bool b) { setPermissionMode(b ? Default : Auto) } ``` On the protocol side I suppose we can simply add another value that carries the mode and deprecate SlaveBase::copy(QUrl,int,JobFlags) in favor of copy(QUrl,int,Mode,JobFlags) with the dispatch function taking care of compatibility. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[krita] [Bug 423533] New: Layer drawn incorrectly after some combinations of blending modes
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423533 Bug ID: 423533 Summary: Layer drawn incorrectly after some combinations of blending modes Product: krita Version: 4.2.9 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: General Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: gin...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 129689 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=129689=edit sample file SUMMARY This both happens in 4.2.9 and master. It seems that if we have 2 layers and set the top one to a mode that makes the bottom layer only partially visible in the composition (like "Destination In" or "Destination Atop"), when we change back the blending mode to normal or any other that should show all the bottom layer, the bottom layer can be shown cropped as if only some tiles where painted. It seems that this is only a visualization problem and if the bottom layer is hidden and shown again with the eye icon the layer is shown correctly again. The main problem is that if the image is saved when the layer is being displayed wrongly, the layer is saved with the artifact. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open the attached file in krita 2. Set the blending mode of "Layer 2" to Destination In or Destination Atop 3. Set the blending mode of "Layer 2" back to Normal OBSERVED RESULT "Layer 1" is cropped. [frameworks-kio] [Bug 423532] New: PreviewJob to apply remote maxSize to mounted remotes?
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423532 Bug ID: 423532 Summary: PreviewJob to apply remote maxSize to mounted remotes? Product: frameworks-kio Version: git master Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kio-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: sit...@kde.org CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Right now we only apply the remote max size setting to items that are isLocalFile() or for which their protocol is :local. The trouble is that just because a path is local doesn't mean that the filesystem is. Which makes e.g. an sshfs mount both technically and practically a "remote" meaning the size constraints applied to remotes should apply to mounted remotes as well. Making this change would mean, by default, previews are off for mounted remotes as well, reducing the risk of bottlenecking the remotes with preview related IO. And of course users can then also opt to have previews enabled, albeit at a lower cut off point than for local files. This would help to reduce the risk of bugs like bug #423082 and bug #178678 happening. They are a general type of issue where our code easily can fall into the trap that a local path means we can use local synchronous IO API when in fact that means the GUI thread will block until we got a reply from the remote. By not drowning the remote with previews there is more bandwidth to accommodate blocking stat() calls and the like. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[akregator] [Bug 268158] Don't update .kde4/share/apps/akregator/data/feeds.opml if not change to prevent disk writing

I store my .opml file in the git repo (to sync it between machines): https://github.com/matklad/config/blob/c97dcf8fc96ac837ad1dfe7cec67eeaae1e5d494/home/.local/share/akregator/data/feeds.opml It looks like akregator always makes non-semantic changes to opml on startup (changing the order of attributes), so I have to exclude opml from commit manually. Looks like hashmap is used to represent XML and the iteration order is leaked? I see two fixes: * canonicalize the order of attributes (by using an ordered container instead of a hash-based one) * avoid writing the file unless there are semantically-meaningful changes Probably makes sense to do both of these :-) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

The content thumbs are already cached so that's cool. But the composite appears to get generated over and over again even when its content hasn't changed. This could be improved somewhat easily... - cache the composite with a bit of proprietary attribute since the spec has no useful existing [1]. X-KDE::DirParts or somesuch, a comma separated list of md5sums of thumbnails comprising the composite - on thumbnail attempts (if cache for dir exists): -- load cache -- read DirParts attribute -- iterate directory -- foreach dirent createThumbOrLoadFromCache - is md5 NOT in DirParts -> invalidate dir cache and re-composite -- if selected md5s.count < DirParts.count re-composite (e.g. previewable content went from 4 to 3) This would then mean that dir previews do not change unless the underlying parts change. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423082 Harald Sitter changed: What|Removed |Added Depends on|423481, 423487, 423492, |423532 |423499, 423500, 423501, | |423502 | CC||sit...@kde.org --- Comment #1 from Harald Sitter --- There is a mountain of issues contributing to what you see. Primarily this comes down to previews being enabled, albeit not exclusively. If you disable previews I'm sure things will behave better, there'll likely still be stuttering though. The problem here is that POSIX IO APIs are synchronous in behavior. So by mounting a remote file system you essentially make all software address it through those blocking calls and they then can take ages to finish. The blocking API call is subject to network latency/bandwith constraints and the remote's IO latency/bandwith constraints, and that is why you get intermittent blocks. It's simply waiting for replies. This is always a problem with mounted remote file systems, but in this case its made more prominent because your file copy causes an exhaustion of one of the constraints making the requests take so long that you can notice the UI intermittently locking up. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423541 Bug ID: 423541 Summary: remove CacheThumbnail=bool support Product: frameworks-kio Version: git master Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kio-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: sit...@kde.org CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- This bug also extends into kio-extras and the thumbcreator implementations * If the thumbnail creation is cheap (such as text previews), you can set * \code * CacheThumbnail=false Thumbnailers can opt out of caching but that seems more like a disadvantage than anything. The only thumbnailer making use of this is the text thumbnailer, so we have this entire feature for a single use case. What's more this kinda impairs making the directory thumbnailer cacheable (also see bug #423538). Directory thumbnails are composites of its content thumbnails. If some of its content can opt out of caching then the dir thumbnailer has a much harder time to determine if the content thumbnail changed compared to the previous thumbnailer run and so it has no option but to always re-composite itself even when the directory content hasn't changed. I'm also not sure thumbnailing is ever really cheaper than loading that very same image from PNG. In particular since the very example of text thumbnailing is apparently also not nearly as cheap as one would think thanks to encoding detection being a pain https://phabricator.kde.org/D29381 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[dolphin] [Bug 423537] New: hold N previews in memory (i.e. multi-level preview caching)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423537 Bug ID: 423537 Summary: hold N previews in memory (i.e. multi-level preview caching) Product: dolphin Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: sit...@kde.org CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Not super sure who should do this, might be KIO. When one browses through directories there's a good chance one may go up and down and up and down. The trouble is every time the dir changes we PreviewJob the new entries even when we know that they haven't changed. At the best of times that will simply result in the job poking the thumbnailer and the thumbnailer reading the cache file from disk, over and over again. At the worst of times the previewable content has caching disabled entirely (Text thumbs, directory thumbs) and we spend energy on needlessly updating stuff all the time. The current way of doing things also means there can be a noticeable amount of time between going up to the previous directory and the (unchanged) previews appearing again. To improve things I'd propose having a global static FIFO in-memory cache of previews with some N entries that attaches a QFileSystemWatcher or something to kick the cache entry out in case the file changes. When loading previews for $URI first try to pop them out of the in-memory cache and only if that misses start a PreviewJob. For example: I'm in dolphin's src dir and descend into the views dir only to find that the file I was looking for is in fact not here so I go back up and into the kitemviews dir instead. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 423539] New: Password box icon to show/hide password is inverted
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423539 Bug ID: 423539 Summary: Password box icon to show/hide password is inverted Product: plasmashell Version: 5.18.90 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Lock/logout Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: claudius.ell...@live.de Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY On the login screen and the lock screen the password box where the password is entered has the icon appearance for showing and hiding the password inverted. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use the login screen or lock the session 2. Type in characters in the password box 3. An eye icon appears on the right of the password box OBSERVED RESULT The eye icon is striked through when the password is hidden and normal when the password is shown EXPECTED RESULT The eye icon should be normal when the password is hidden and striked through when the password is shown. This would indicate what will happen when the icon is clicked. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This is how it works on Windows and how I expect it to work. Also this might be a regression. I think I identified those two relevant lines in two files: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/blob/master/lookandfeel/contents/lockscreen/MainBlock.qml#L32 and https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/blob/master/sddm-theme/Login.qml#L11 However, I could not dig deeper. This might be a bug in a more central component. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423542 Bug ID: 423542 Summary: Incorrect window scaling on highdpi monitor Product: kwin Version: git master Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: wayland-generic Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: nicolas.fe...@gmx.de Target Milestone: --- I have a 4K monitor with 2x scaling and a FHD monitor with 1x scaling. When I open a window on the 4K monitor the content only fills the top left quarter of the window. Once I resize the window it works as expected. [okular] [Bug 423517] Unable to see text typed when filling forms
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423517 --- Comment #3 from David Hurka --- The widget style looks very much like Breeze, but the color scheme is very likely not Breeze. It looks similar, but note the white text on blue background on the pressed button. If you can determine your color scheme, we could examine where it uses white for text foreground. On Plasma desktop you would just go to System Settings -> Colors. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
