Further data point. I installed 18.12.from Fedora 30 that I had used
successfully before to try to get some editing done. It froze the machine too.
The reinstall brought mlt-6.22.1-1.fc32.x86_64 with it as a dependency.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Kdenlive
2. Click on the Logging, Editing, Audio, Effects, Color items in the top right

This happens of 3 different Fedora 32 installations. One on a i7/nVidia/nouveau
another Core 2 Duo/Intel VGA and another on i5/Intel VGA

EXPECTED RESULT

This has also been reported to the RPMFusion Buzilla and a Wayland anomaly
identified.

Just to respond to this reminder.
Will test version 20.08.2 when it becomes available via RPMFusion.

Can report that 20.08.1 operates as expected without Wayland, just X-Org

Have installed 20.08.03 on the system that froze previously. In the meanwhile
that system has been upgraded from Fedora 32 to Fedora 33.(Kernel 5.9.8-200)

Sad to report that the same freeze occurs with Wayland and not with Xorg.

In Xorg mode, I opened a large 1080p project on version 20.08.03 and the system
became unresponsive. On investigation several threads of ffmpeg were consuming
the system resources. It would be worth having kdenlive produce some user
information as on the surface the system appeared frozen. After 10-15 mins the
processing had completed but this version of kdenlive barely plays that project
whereas 20.08.01 played OK.

I use the RPMFusion Spin of kdenlive. It is usable with Xorg.

Perhaps I should log this on the RPMFusion bugzilla

Thanks
