[Bug 257984] kmail automatic filtering doesn't work

--- Comment #1 from Felix Lemke 2010-11-27 01:51:53 ---
I have the same problem.

Automatic filtering doesn't work.
But the filtering works if I mark a mail and say "Apply all filters" (CTRL+J).

I also have this behaviour in kmail 2.0.89. Mail is not being sent. When I
send, it just sits in the outbox, and it's as if kmail isn't even trying to
send it. Nothing happens. If I try to re-send from the outbox, a duplicate
email gets added to the outbox.

This is what i see in .xsession-errors when i press send:

if an identity is edited, there are by chance two ok and cancel buttons on the
screen, with no visible indication that the lower ones belong to the main
identity manager window in the background. they are not clickable though, but
one has to use the ones in the modal dialog on top. it's visually confusing.

Icould make the first account name reappear by swiping the list so it vanishes
above the top of the screen and when it glides back in the name is there.

--- Comment #6 from Torgny Nyblom 2010-11-26 22:06:55 ---
The issue seems to be not inside KMSystemTray but in its usage of
KStatusNotifierItem. In this the function setOverlayIconbyPixmap() is a no op
due to the fact that no tray icon is associated with it, and this is due to
org.kde.StatusNotifierWatcher.

In conclusion this seems like a missed porting when something in the statustray
was updated.

I've run into this issue regularly. I frequently use KMail (or actually
Kontact) over NX. However, unlike what's reported above, I can generally use
KMail until I start to write a new message. The new message window will be
usable for a few seconds after which kmail freezes. It doesn't seem to happen
when running through an NX session, not even when the session is started on the
same machine.
"akonadictl restart" does resolve the issue.

I'll try to properly reproduce this and get the console output, if anyone wants
me to do same more specific testing let me know.

I'm running KDE from debian squeeze, these versions might be relevant:

[Bug 258003] New: KMail2 unusable after migration due to high CPU load

2010-11-26 Thread Alex Richardson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=258003

Summary: KMail2 unusable after migration due to high CPU load
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: alex.richard...@gmx.de

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.80)
OS:Linux

It seems KMail spawns hundreds of spamassassin processes which eat up the CPU
and also for some reason the Kontact GUI is frozen.
I have 4 POP mail accounts which I migrated today. These processes are spawned
every time I start KMail, possibly could be related to fetching mail. I have
set one of my POP accounts to leave the mail on the server for seven days,
maybe this it filters all these messages for spam. I do not know if it happens
after every automatic Mail check since I have not managed to run KMail for
longer than a few minutes.

I also got a crash when I switched to the Kontact tab KMail (I always start
with akregator) while the GUI was slow and unresponsive and the spamassassin
processes were running, but I haven't tried to reproduce this and unfortunately
I closed the backtrace.

Reproducible: Always

Yes, this happens here too with kmail/kontact and konqueror.
I'm using kmail/kontact version 4.4.7 and the rest is kde version 4.5.3.

I like to print important e-mails (flight tickets or hotel vouchers) and there
is always a lot of text missing between the last line of a page and the first
line of the next page.

My current "solution" is very unpractical:
- export the e-mail in to a mbox-file, name it *.html;
- edit this file (for example to remove unwanted headers);
- load this file in rekonq and print it there.

SVN commit 1201019 by asouza:

Properly setup the initial values of widgets

This patch (still needs some polishing, but already works) fix the
issue of the initial value of the variables not being properly
propagated through the tree until it reached the parent.

Actually the parent was receiving the changes but wasn't acting
on those changes, what led to the bugs below. It's fixed now
and just needs some polishing.

[Bug 257967] IMAP configuration dialog does not show and email bodies are not downloaded

2010-11-26 Thread Tvrtko Ursulin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=257967

--- Comment #1 from Tvrtko Ursulin 2010-11-26 15:30:16 ---
I got rid of the migrated IMAP account and created a new one. That worked
better for a while, but not all message headers were downloaded.

Is there a limit how much it will fetch? It seems to download from oldest but
then for various folders it stops at various dates. Which leads me to suspect
it is about the number since bigger folders miss more of the recent messages.

Then it somehow got stuck again in a way that I could not enter the
configuration dialog for this IMAP account. I re-created it again.

Situation with not all headers being downloaded is still present.

However bodies of all downloaded headers can be read.

[Bug 257977] New: messages in threads marked as ignored are treated as unread

OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: stefano.cro...@alice.it

Version: 2.0.89
OS:Linux

If there's a thread containing more than one message, and some of them are
unread, marking the whole thread as ignored doesn't make the unread messages
read like it did in KMail 1. Now the unread messsages in the ignored thread are
listed in the unread column in the folder list and in the message list even
when the filter is set to Unread.

If I select the messages in the message list after marking the thread as
ignored seems to correctly mark them as read, but as soon as the folder is
synced again (which happens the next time mail is checked) they're again marked
as unread. The same happens using the "Mark all mail as read" or "Mark thread
as read" menu entries

I have one of my IMAP resource that won't sync with the server, even when I ask

In account settings, the resource is said to be "connection established", and

Restarting akonadi using akonadi_control worked, the resource is now ready and
syncing works.

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.80)
OS:Linux

I upgraded from KDE 4.5.3 to 4.6 Beta 1. On first mail migration thingy ran
successfully.

I had one IMAP (MS Exchange) account configured.

Some new email headers were downloaded fine but message bodies for both new and
old mail are not downloaded at all.

Subsequently no new headers are getting downloaded. (I guess after the first
batch it stopped working)

I tried going into the account configuration where the IMAP one is listed but
configuration dialog is not showing up either on double-click or on clicking
"Modify..." on the right.

Account status is "Connection established".

There are no visible indicators that something is crashing or reporting
failures/problems.

I've used an opensuse package. Now, since KDE 4.6 beta 1 is available for
opensuse 11.3, the bug seems to be gone as far as I can tell from one day of

N900 only, does not happen on WincE -> out of scope for komo3.

N900 only (WinCE has no icons), so not komo3-relevant anymore.

We now also have per-folder sync progress indicators. Should be good enough
IMHO, if you want more please file separate wishes :)

Does not affect WinCE but is Maemo5 only, so out of scope for komo3.

SVN commit 1200922 by asouza:

Make date and time selectors set proper values

A possible bug in QML was not properly propagating the changes
to the widgets. One workaround for that is calling a function
instead to set the value instead of relying on the signals.

Now dates and times are shown correctly (instead of 0's) but
we still need to setup to the right values (right now they show
the 'current/last setup' date and time.
